Track description | Creative process
An alternate take on the Super Mario Bros Underground Theme. I wanted to depict a mysterious vibe where there are unsavory types lurking about the shadows of a pipe-filled maze. Hope you enjoy!

It sounds great and fits the underground area very well. Yet it is too serious and ethereal for a Mario game.

Feels a bit more like a track from a James Bond game than Mario to me, but the composition and vibes are immaculate!

Nice tune, the mixing is maybe a bit off. Some instruments remain in the background when maybe they should be more prominent in the mix. Overall, it's a great piece, with a few adjustments, it could really shine.

creativity is really strong here.  Credibility takes a hit as far as the 1985 technology era but so is almost all our submissions because we're having to dial it back a lot compared to all our setups capability.  Percussions a bit heavy and maybe its too dark, remember the very very first SMB is a cutesy-pie game before stuff got maybe darker starting with super mario world six years later.

But production skill level and stuff is all on point.  Really enjoyed this.

If you do rate my submission back the correct wav file and links are out on this page:

i got caught by the issue where you submit the last jam's project on accident by default if you dont move the drop down somewhere

Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah, I wanted to make it a little more ominous, but I totally get what you mean with the original game's vibe haha. I'll be sure to check out the link below!

Mysterious and deep with the reverb you added ! (Maybe a bit too distant though) Good atmosphere for the underground, and nice groove ! Well done !

Nice take, the track feels a bit too distant and some instruments not loud enough, but you really set the mood with all these sounds and reverbs, it feels very very on theme! Good job!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Mixing is something that I want to keep working on haha

Pretty cool take, very "distant" like in a cave if that what you were going for. I can sense the mystery like you described. good job !

Interesting take on the original theme, giving new vibes with those reverby snare hits. I dig that lead trembling instrument sound chosen, which really conveys a mysterious feeling. Good work!
