It took me a while to find out about the controls (thought it was mouse only), but then I got to foraging and brewing crazy concoctions. The brewing controls are somewhat clunky, but it worked. Not sure what the goal of the game is, but it was pretty fun as a prototype.

The sounds and visuals are really good!

I love the art style and unique UI for mixing ingredients! The inventory physics made me feel a bit like I was playing QWOP for potion brewing, it’s hilariously fun! However, I didn’t seem to be able to actually find any of the side effects some of the other commenters mentioned - maybe I simply didn’t try eating enough mushrooms….

I really liked the added detail of stuff popping back out into the overworld if if fell off the side of the inventory, and it was nice that you thought to replace the tools if they fell off too.

Overall I really like it, I definitely think with some polish this game could be an absolute blast! I could see this being a fun VR game if you decide to continue developing it too.

Developer

Thank you so much! To actually get any of the effects (good or bad), you need to brew potions of of the inredients. And mash 'em up to get a higher quality potion. There are not that many effects and some of them are not as noticable (As I don't have any hud displaying the effects), but they are there.

I'm planning to finish this in the future, as I had a lot of things planned that I didn't have time to implement (Wasted too much time on looks and physics). That was planned to be a pve/pvp game, where you battle out with whacky potion effects. VR is a good idea too, will definately think about it.

I ate some mushrooms without mashing them and lost gravity, then accidentally ate the pestle. 10/10

Love the sound effects lol. The art seriously looks really good.

Thank you so much! You can also eat the cauldron if you try hard enough :)

I liked mixing the potions, the UI is incredible! The game is beautiful also but I was lacking some description and directions. At the end, reached the world edge and fell off. Didn't have enough ingredients to make a levitation potion :(

I believe this game has a huge potential!

Thank you! I know it's still rough and more of a prototype and not really a game (Considering I made only third of what I planned initially). Just didn't have enough experience with bevy to finish it properly. My planning skills are quite poor.

But thanks for leaving a comment, feedback is always appreciated!

I really like the UI you have here. I wish this was more of a finished game but it was still a really cool experience

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Watched your stream and you seemed quite confused (I don't blame you for that one hahah)
There are good effects actually (and they can just not happen, it's random).
I wish it was more finished too...

Managed to find the locate ingredient, no gravity and bouncy objects effects. I also found a few other things (I'm going insane!) but it's difficult for me to know why any of the effects occurred. The UI is really fun to use, although my cauldron flew into the sky with such speed when I had no gravity that it took minutes to come down. Cool game.

Developer(+1)

When you make and drink potions, the effects occur. Or at least in theory it should work like that. Effects are chosen randomly, but ingredients go into consideration. "I'm going insane" is the one where you hallucinate ingedients and items on the ground. Really needed a hud to tell you about your current effects... BUT I GUESS IT'S MORE FUN TO FIND OUT BY YOURSELF!
A lot of ingredients will make potions stronger and crushing them in the mortar will increate their quality (Better effects)

Crashing on mac for me with

Sorry about that, I never actually tried running the game on mac (as I don't have one)

I will have a quick look after work

Developer

I tried fixing it by building a wasm build but I'm too dumb for this. It's so frustrating that it's not working.

Sorry, I will try again tomorrow. My brain can't process this endless wasmopacalypsys

I managed to finally port it to WASM, but the audio... Audio is beyond repair...
Audio and game seems to work fine on Chrome, apparently Firefox is super laggy

I'm sorry that native Mac build didn't work, but I don't really have a clue on how to fix it as I don't have access to any macs

Hope you at least enjoy this WASM version!

How do you drink?

Developer (1 edit)

You need to grag a potion from your inventory to player character head.
It's my bad that it's not explicit enough
