Really nice music. Very Zelda like. I like all of the abilities you get. Never found out how to use the magic one.

I really love the art style and presentation, as well as the music and sounds! I think it looks really good. There were some parts in the beginning when there is some wide open, unused space, and it messes with the pacing a bit. But I was really happy to discover all the little Biggy frogs! In general, the character designs of both the player character in his differend modes, as well as the enemies and the NPCs, all of their little quirks have to be my favorite part of the game. They're so cool and have so much personality!

This is also what made the boss fights great. The boss' design translated into the fights themselves, communicating clearly what their abilities, their strengths and weaknesses would be when you're fighting them.

This brings me to one last point, which is that I was unfortunately not able to beat the game. The red boss with the many different hands was too hard for me (the difficulty selections screen was right! 👶)Once I was able to finally beat the second phase, I would immediately get my ass kicked in the third phase. Starting over again with the first phase was starting to get frustrating after about an hour :(

I will maybe try again at a later time when I have more energy and focus, because I am still really invested in the story and the world!

This gives me enter the gungeon vibes!

Really good character in this game. It was really fun and the world felt super fleshed out. Not to mention the difficulty selection at the start was hilarious.

Nice game! I like the world you built, it feels big and vast, feels like a lived in world. Admittedly I think the art still needs some practice, but the consistency shows good judgement with game design and art design. Well done you guys should be proud!

Great point about the art - this is a discussion we had throughout the development of the game - I've honed this weird, not very good pixel art style over the last few jam games I've made, and I probably need to do some studying to improve it.

Thanks so much for playing, I really enjoyed the heck out of your game!

nice little adventure game, great presentation and sound. the boss fights were fun but the walk speed was a bit slow for my liking

Developer (1 edit)

There's unfortunately a really-difficult-to-pin-down bug in the game involving vsync, which seems to only happen on some machines. This is why your movement was so slow.

In case you decide to take another swing at it, I added this block to the game's page on Itch.

!!! IMPORTANT !!! IF PLAYER MOVEMENT IS SLOW the game may not be beatable. Try toggling VSync in your graphics settings (for Hero Mode.exe only, if possible).

Thank you so, so much for playing! :)

  • The music on the menu screen is a banger, actually got me listening to the whole song before I even started the game
  • The art for the menu screen is also amazing and sets the scene well
  • I clicked multiple times on normal mode, until it locked, very funny, I love it
  • Frogs breathe through their skin?!
  • I did not listen to magic supreme
  • I couldn't figure out how to use magic mode tho
  • Cute doge top right
  • One of my attempts at the barrel room was to push the torches into one of the barrels. Even though that wasn't the way forward, just thought it was a cool idea.
  • Scored 70 on the arena part
  • :( I was standing right next to the boss on his 3rd mode on 1 heart. This is so sad
  • Dayum there's a bug that if you fall off the plate and hit the boss when he goes into his 3rd mode, you continuously take damage :( I was on 4 hearts, I was so ready.
  • I died so many times on the boss

I had heaps of fun, everything was really well done and it feels like a lot of effort went into this game. It provided a decent challenge even though it was baby mode ;-; makes me think I didn't want to pick normal mode from the start.

Be proud ^^ awesome work.

Great game. I got stuck in the barrel room the first time I played, but went back to try again and finally figured it out. I'm not sure what the magic mode does or I couldn't get it to work. The final boss battle was intense! Overall nice bite-sized game, agree with other commenter that it's very fleshed out, feels like an actual game.

Man I hate to be the one to break this to you, but magic just isn't real

Nah, yeah, magic mode is bugged.

Thank you so much for your review and for playing! :)

This may be one of the most fleshed-out games in the jam. Not just in the amount of content, but in the little details. Naturally, I had to destroy every table and chair after discovering they were destructible. Of course, there are some minor adjustments that could be tweaked, eg faster character speed, or attacking up and down maybe.  But overall, this game feels like an actual game, not just a quick project. Build out the combat and you could have something akin hyper light drifter. Serious accolades to Hidden Wish Studios, this was a seriously fun.

Holy cow, thank you so much for your kind words!!!
