Omg I'm in pure shock. I can't believe you got that many flies. Round 403??! Considering each round is 40 seconds, that's about 4.5 hours!?!? I shared this around to the entire team! You beat my top round by a mile, I never even broke 100. I can see how this could make a pretty good idle clicker, maybe I should change gears ahah.
Thanks so much for playing <3 This made my day lmao.
This game was sick! It's super well balanced and the enemies scale appropriately. The upgrade system and the different modes kept me interested and wanting more. I was kinda sad when the game ended. At the end you really got the feel of being powerful. I felt the magnet upgrade was super powerful at one point because it was hard to pick up orbs while attacking a large crowd. In the end I got to level 44!
Seriously amazing job, Loved the graphics and style of it too! needs more hype!
Ok this game was really sick. I finished the bigmode version all the way through (I could not beat your score holy what). I'm not very good at these kind of games but I still had fun. The animations and attacks were super satisfying even if I was just holding down the key all the time.
Amazing work! You should be proud!
- The art style and little introduction animations are so cute and awesome
- This is such a unique game, I love the different camera angles and the multitasking stress
- Its so awesome that you can combine the mechanic to stomp with quickly locking in a position that has no people in it as well as using it to attack the police cars
- Small mode is pretty fun too, I tried doing the first part without using dodge at all by standing still and anticipating the attacks.
- You can tell a lot of thought and love has been put into this, you've done an amazing job putting this together in the time frame <3
- Goblins are reAL
- Love the low graphics style with this game
- The tutorial on the walls is super useful
- The controls were a little finicky at first, was getting a but confused between interact, use and pickup
- I couldn't figure out how much health I was on or how much gold I had
- The enemies really do provide a challenge out of the box (get it haha like... out of the chest)
- Overall a pretty fun little gem of a game <3
100% what I was going for. I really wanted the environment to teach the player the game. I sadly didn't achieve that very well. There's possibly a better way I could communicate the changing of modes, maybe even a way without needing to press additional buttons. Could've made little pick-ups on the map that changed your mode, and you'd need to find and pick up the right ones given the situation idk just a thought. Thanks for playing ^^
Also, frege.
New frog lore from the frog log:
It appears that in the realm of the pond, not all is as it seems. The smaller frogs, once thought to be companions in the dance of the lilies, have revealed themselves to be cunning strategists in the game of survival. Their approach, initially perceived as friendship, was in fact a clever ploy to partake in the bounty of flies that your larger form attracted.
This revelation from the frog log sheds light on the intricate dynamics of the pond's ecosystem. Where alliances are as shifting as does the water flow amidst the pond, perchance they may turn on you once you become too slow to fight back.
And yet, maybe your anxiety proceeds you. Maybe it was friendship after all, it's all a mystery within the realm of the pond.
frog log out.
<3 Thanks for playing
So glad you figured it out. 100% my bad for not forcing my army of frog programmers to build the tutorial. It's a bit hard to type with flippers (imagine the PRs). So cool you stuck around to round 25 though! shame about the toad (ew toads) spawning on you, I did add some code to ensure that enemies don't spawn within the viewport's vision, so for that reason you 100% died to a bug and therefore, not your fault (it's the frogs).
Maybe I will come back and polish the game up. It seems yourself and a few others are interested ^^ Regardless thanks so much for playing <3
fun fact: I haven't awoken since I fell asleep post submitting the game. All my comments are merely my subconscious mind working away as if it were awake. Maybe someday I'll realise this and awake from my long deserved slumber.
Anywoo, thanks for playing the game <3 I so could've named this game Froge Survivors.
As one froge becomes bigger, and thy comrades are thine small as ants, thy start to ponder mine existence. Is this growth merely a quirk of fate, or a sign of some greater destiny? In this larger form, I tower over my brethren, casting long shadows across the lily pads. The world below now seems so tiny, so intricate. Do they see me as a giant, a protector, or an anomaly in this natural world?
Thanks so much for playing, I appreciate the kind words <3
Cheers for playing <3 Yeah tutorial would have been handy fo sure. Froge overlord was 100% the goal of satisfaction! Glad you're understanding of the timeframe, personally we only had 6 days to complete this including the art, music and programming. Would you believe that 2 days before the deadline we didn't even have enemies or upgrades?
Haha it's interesting that you mention unlocking them because that's 100% what I was planning to do. I was going to make it so that you'd unlock them at round 5, 10 and 20. I did run out of time for that system but I love that you intuitively thought that's what you were meant to do. But yeah tutorial moment would have been a good idea. I've tried to include the tutorial for controls in 3 different places on the pages now but I don't think it compares to having it in the game itself.
Thanks so much for playing <3
Thanks for the detailed review. After all these comments it's really making me rethink how low I put tutorials on the to-do list lmao
I really only had time to program waves up to 10, and I guess 10-20 had some things.
I was going to add some toads every few rounds that obliterate your army.
Optimisation was the very last thing on my list, sorry for the low fps 🫡
Really appreciate you taking the time to play <3
Omg I'm so glad you noticed the grass details lmao. I just had to add something like that at any cost.
Just checking, did you press the 1/2/3 keys to change the soldier spawn modes?
Otherwise, at one point I planning to unlock more frog modes (more than the 3 already added), with either upgrade cards or when you reached a certain round.
fun fact: There was going to be a 4th healer class froge, however I didn't include it because I thought it would be too OP
So glad you enjoyed it <3 Thanks for playing :D
- The music on the menu screen is a banger, actually got me listening to the whole song before I even started the game
- The art for the menu screen is also amazing and sets the scene well
- I clicked multiple times on normal mode, until it locked, very funny, I love it
- Frogs breathe through their skin?!
- I did not listen to magic supreme
- I couldn't figure out how to use magic mode tho
- Cute doge top right
- One of my attempts at the barrel room was to push the torches into one of the barrels. Even though that wasn't the way forward, just thought it was a cool idea.
- Scored 70 on the arena part
- :( I was standing right next to the boss on his 3rd mode on 1 heart. This is so sad
- Dayum there's a bug that if you fall off the plate and hit the boss when he goes into his 3rd mode, you continuously take damage :( I was on 4 hearts, I was so ready.
- I died so many times on the boss
I had heaps of fun, everything was really well done and it feels like a lot of effort went into this game. It provided a decent challenge even though it was baby mode ;-; makes me think I didn't want to pick normal mode from the start.
Be proud ^^ awesome work.
Thanks for playing! <3 Your right, I did mega last minute balance changes on the day of submission to get it to it's current stage, but if I had time I would've:
- Made the doge more powerful so you could build a doge army build (the doge is just a reskin of the soldier frog)
- Added rarity to the upgrades so that you get ones like 'planet' more often and 'epic fly' less
- Enemy types that counter certain froges like the bomber toad / explosion resistant metal toads
Thanks for playing! Mega appreciate this response. I'll also respond with the time it deserves! Here's a bunch of fun facts:
- The title was based off of 'little big planet' from the PS3 days
- Tome0 did our music while being half deaf and sick, if you like it now, imagine what he could've done if he was better!
- The game was pulled together in 6 days, as I was in Sydney on a work trip for the first 2 weeks (rip timing)
- I didn't actually spend that much time on the map generation (under a day), frankly due to an amazing Unity plugin called "Map Graph". All-in-all it was probably faster than doing it by hand considering each tile was 16x16 and the map was I think 500 tiles wide.
- One of the enemy types I wanted to add was the "Mega Buster Toad" and the "Mega Dart Toad". The buster toads would explode with a large boom and destroy large parts of your army, and dart toads would shoot large bullets from a range.
- The buster toad is good a thinning down your army is latter levels if it gets too big
- The dart toads are good at destroying some of your bomber frogs from a distance before they explode
- Ideally I would have added more of these 'disruptor units' to give the player a harder time, and I could've even made the spawner-ai smart by spawning more of them when you've got more frog units deployed.
- I wanted to add rarity to upgrades, that way more powerful ones like the "fly" and "speed" upgrades would appear less frequently. They're intentionally OP... but not intentionally common haha.
There's so much more I wanted to add, I've only mentioned a few here, I wish I was in this ready state a week ago, I'm sure we all do. Again thanks so much for playing ^^ <3
For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get the last cog in level 4 (the first ball level), I spent a good while.
Seriously though, what an amazing concept and execution. The style is simple but fits so well, and the switch from 2D to 3D is seamless.
You really went hard on the challenging aspect of the puzzles, my head hurt.
- The art and environments are very cool
- Found myself ranging a bit (not very good at these kinda games rip)
- The level design provided some tedious but good challenges
- (I couldn't make it to the top I suck)
- It took me reading the description to figure out what touching the statues do. Maybe some particles to indicate how long it last for would be cool.
Awesome job over all pulling together something as cool as this!
- Loved the tutorial art on the main menu lmao
- Level design and music was cool ^^
- I couldn't tell what was going on some times, but at some point I gained infinite jumps and used it to bypass a lot of the enemies, or sneak pass then by blocking hehe
I got maybe 5 levels in before I had a viewport issue, which is possibly due to me playing on a widescreen monitor. Huge effort working on and getting a game in!
- The mechanics were pretty satisfying, the boomerang was cool to use up close next to a wall
- Hitting enemies in large groups felt nice, especially with the SFX
- I couldn't figure out how to get past the first room though :( Maybe I'm dumb but I was trying to destroy the props around the room but couldn't.
Nice job getting it in! Shame I couldn't try the boss fight :c
- The art style is super cute, love the little guys omg, props to your artist <3
- Loved the dynamic where if you kill too little enemies you'll get overwhelmed
- Super simple but entertaining, the enemy pool while small, still felt challenging and diverse
Some issues I found were:
- I could push some enemies into the walls in muscle mode
- I think I somehow died while still having 2hp
- I took damage coming out of muscle mode while standing over an enemy
- I can enter escape mode while transitioning between berserk mode
Amazing job team ^^ Well done.
- UI is super cool, has a fitting style and feels mega polished. I loved the transition animation between screens.
- The voice acting and story was an extra treat, not too many games can say they voice acted.
- Quality of life polish, the small things like moving the notes around was super handy.
- It may be that I chose too many cards in my deck but during a interrogation they would overlay especially when selected.
- I did struggle a bit to figure out how things worked. I would say a tutorial would've been nice.... but you did say you ran out of time and ironically I'm in the same boat for my game haha.
Overall massive achievement, you should be proud!
