How does your game represent Mode?
Besides being featured in the game's title, the player's character is a robot that enters "Low Power Mode" when the battery's charge is below 15%, making the character move slower ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿ”‹ ๐Ÿ”Œ

The art and music was really good in this entry. Beepo has a pretty cool design. Cool that you made a RPGMAKER game that doesn't have turn-based combat.

Thank you very much for your review! I'm glad you liked how I used the engine.

I like roguelikes and you got the base pretty much working already! Having option to fight back in cost of battery might have been an interesting feature to have, since the map is already procedurally generated. Also, try to give more highlight on object that can be interacted with.

I like the main menu, music, and art in general. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Toro, it makes me happy to get feedback from someone who likes the genre, that's very useful :)

I'll do my best to improve upon this in the future! ๐Ÿ’ช

Good job! This game had a fun retro vibe to it. If you decide to expand it, I think adding abilities that cost charge to use would be pretty cool.

Developer

Thanks Madog_Porter, I love that idea!

Fun game, loved the music & the art style. Sad that I couldn't keep beepo alive for a longer time :(

Developer

Thank you so much! Beepo appreciates your efforts anyway <3

Really good game, i really liked the art and gameplay. Maybe a thing that could have been better is the randomization because sometimes i had small rooms full of batteries and other times really big rooms with only robots and alot of ways so finding the exit is extra hard. I havent made any game on rpg maker so i do not know how hard something like this is to implement. Other than that it is a great game

Developer

Thank you for your feedback Wavemonade, that's very helpful to know! Also, I'm happy you liked the art and gameplay :)

Why make the player slower when they have lower battery? it feels especially frustrating when I'm trying to recharge. Also the game's combat feels really weird, and it doesn't feel like i can apply much strategy or skill besides avoiding enemies entirely, which isn't super fun.  I do like the art and music however, and It has its own charm that i can appreciate.

Developer

Thank you for your helpful feedback! I'm sorry to hear that it wasn't fun for you.

To answer your question, my thought process was that it felt satisfying when I was struggling for my life, slowing down and still managed to safe myself by recharging the battery and eventually pick myself back up again.

You're right that the main gameplay consists of avoiding the other robots, you can't influence the combat otherwise. Next time, I will try to make it more clear to the player and make it feel more rewarding. Maybe by giving the points more purpose and allowing the player to purchase upgrades with them, which had been my initial plan. Once they hit you, you can then decide whether to run away, or continue fighting them so you will lose even more battery but also gain some points for killing them.

I'm glad to hear you found some charming aspects in the game that you liked, it's nice that you gave it a chance anyway! :]

Aww I'm so happy that people seem to like Beepo! Maybe one day I'll make an update or a sequel with a happy ending for Beepo โค

Nice job! I don't have much familiarity with RPG maker, have never seen a game made in it where your objective is something other than turn-based combat.

The initial audio settings were pretty jarring, but it was nice to be able to go in and fix them immediately.

Developer

Thank you :D

I know what you mean, it was actually my first time making something like this in RPG maker as well.  I'm glad you appreciate it :)

I was inspired by the battle system from Eternal Senia, which is also an (slightly older) RPG Maker game. Even though the final result came out different in the end.

Also, that's good to know about the audio, thanks ๐Ÿ‘

Fun concept! I love how the art fits together and the theming on the menus. It looks very clean!

Thank you Klenzer! I'm glad to hear that, it means a lot :)
