Great pacing, great music and visuals! Was easy to just keep playing after figuring out the rhythm. The little guys made me feel safe, not unlike the way white blood cells keep us safe from infections... such hardworking little guys. They deserve a raise.
Super cute game! I really liked the variety of frogs available though it did take me a little time to figure out how to use em all. I really loved the super cute aesthetic!
Very cute game! Frog variety and upgrades really help change up gameplay styles and make it more fun. It did take me a while to figure out the controls (I didn't read the game page until after I failed the first round running with a hoard chasing after me the entire time lol), and I don't think I saw any health indicators so wasn't sure how many more hits I could take.
Cute little game. Took me a little bit to figure out how to use the different fregs but once I did it was pretty fun. With more time it might have been nice to add some more in-game tutorial. Still a good game for 6 days of work.
Also I found out that after a while you can get enough range upgrades and build a big enough army of fregs to turn the game into an idle clicker. It took me a good few hours and over 400 levels but I managed to make my way up to 1 million flies! :D
Omg I'm in pure shock. I can't believe you got that many flies. Round 403??! Considering each round is 40 seconds, that's about 4.5 hours!?!? I shared this around to the entire team! You beat my top round by a mile, I never even broke 100. I can see how this could make a pretty good idle clicker, maybe I should change gears ahah.
Thanks so much for playing <3 This made my day lmao.
This game is surprisingly fun for how simple it seems at first glance. Using the different modes was fun, and upgrading between rounds made me want to get even further. My only minor complaint would be that the upgrades (especially movement speed) make the game a bit too easy, and even then it was still fun. Great job!
This has a lot of potential but would benefit greatly from some in-game context. The environment and gameplay could subtly teach the player about what to do and why.
Also, freg.
100% what I was going for. I really wanted the environment to teach the player the game. I sadly didn't achieve that very well. There's possibly a better way I could communicate the changing of modes, maybe even a way without needing to press additional buttons. Could've made little pick-ups on the map that changed your mode, and you'd need to find and pick up the right ones given the situation idk just a thought. Thanks for playing ^^
Also, frege.
I actually didn't realize on swapping the modes in my first playthrough
Those small frogs deceived me, I thought they came to me to be my fren but they only want my flies :(
New frog lore from the frog log:
It appears that in the realm of the pond, not all is as it seems. The smaller frogs, once thought to be companions in the dance of the lilies, have revealed themselves to be cunning strategists in the game of survival. Their approach, initially perceived as friendship, was in fact a clever ploy to partake in the bounty of flies that your larger form attracted.
This revelation from the frog log sheds light on the intricate dynamics of the pond's ecosystem. Where alliances are as shifting as does the water flow amidst the pond, perchance they may turn on you once you become too slow to fight back.
And yet, maybe your anxiety proceeds you. Maybe it was friendship after all, it's all a mystery within the realm of the pond.
frog log out.
<3 Thanks for playing
Very unique concept! The first few rounds the game didn't stick with me very well, but after i discovered the different modes it became a bit more fun.
Around round 10 in my final plathrough the game became a bit too easy and I didn't really have any challenge anymore of trying to survive. Keep picking the more flies and spamming exploding froggies was the best strat here. Played until round 25 and died to a frog spawning on me -_-
I really liked the concept though! Would be cool to see more added to flesh things out and to keep the gameplay more fresh, with maybe even a cap to how many rounds you can play like Vampire Survivors. Definitely a strong base for a full game!
So glad you figured it out. 100% my bad for not forcing my army of frog programmers to build the tutorial. It's a bit hard to type with flippers (imagine the PRs). So cool you stuck around to round 25 though! shame about the toad (ew toads) spawning on you, I did add some code to ensure that enemies don't spawn within the viewport's vision, so for that reason you 100% died to a bug and therefore, not your fault (it's the frogs).
Maybe I will come back and polish the game up. It seems yourself and a few others are interested ^^ Regardless thanks so much for playing <3
The first time I played it I didn't know how to switch modes and made it to round 18, where my Laptop had about 2 fps. Afterwards I figured out how to actually play the game, but it wasn't as successful as leveling movement speed and walking around in a big circle. I like the idea of making your little army and defend yourself against an ever increasing enemy, but I think this fell slightly flat in achieving that player fantasy (at least for me). I think if you had more days to work on this (and get some deserved sleep) this could've been a really cool rendition of a Vampire Survivors esque game.
As it is now, it's still a fun and cute game with a musical bop but I think it could be really great if you had more time to work on it!
fun fact: I haven't awoken since I fell asleep post submitting the game. All my comments are merely my subconscious mind working away as if it were awake. Maybe someday I'll realise this and awake from my long deserved slumber.
Anywoo, thanks for playing the game <3 I so could've named this game Froge Survivors.
Very fun game! I actually found the music quite thought-provoking...as my froggo grew larger and larger I started to wonder what I was doing in the process...How many flies did I eat? Why am I killing all of these frogs ? How BIGGO can I REALLY get!?
Great visuals and good gameplay loop!
As one froge becomes bigger, and thy comrades are thine small as ants, thy start to ponder mine existence. Is this growth merely a quirk of fate, or a sign of some greater destiny? In this larger form, I tower over my brethren, casting long shadows across the lily pads. The world below now seems so tiny, so intricate. Do they see me as a giant, a protector, or an anomaly in this natural world?
Thanks so much for playing, I appreciate the kind words <3
I agree with the person below me, it wasn't until my third play through that I realized there was more than one mode. Other than that, the title has a super satisfying gameplay loop and the enemy variety is pretty decent considering the time limit. Overall, great job!!!
I mega appreciate it <3 I didn't actually make this game, there's a frog in my chef hat controlling my every move, so blame him for not including a tutorial >:)
A simple explanation in game would've saved me the trouble of having to download the game to play it correctly after not understanding there was more than 1 mode. lol Love the overlord frog concept. I'd avoid making enemies the same color as the player to avoid confusion and if you released this as an actual game there definitely would need to be balancing (archer's OP) but for the time frame everything in this was A++. Great job!
Cheers for playing <3 Yeah tutorial would have been handy fo sure. Froge overlord was 100% the goal of satisfaction! Glad you're understanding of the timeframe, personally we only had 6 days to complete this including the art, music and programming. Would you believe that 2 days before the deadline we didn't even have enemies or upgrades?
I would believe that because I was the sick artist in our group and didn't get started until the last week. XD Do what you gotta do. lol I love the character models so great job on that with such a short time frame.

tongue mode?
lick mode?
The game loop is so fun. Getting those upgrades was so satisfying. Although the gameplay does repeat itself, it's super replayable! I think it would help if you had some supplemental UI that shows the player they can switch the frog modes at any time because I thought you were supposed to unlock/upgrade to get them.
Super fun game.
Haha it's interesting that you mention unlocking them because that's 100% what I was planning to do. I was going to make it so that you'd unlock them at round 5, 10 and 20. I did run out of time for that system but I love that you intuitively thought that's what you were meant to do. But yeah tutorial moment would have been a good idea. I've tried to include the tutorial for controls in 3 different places on the pages now but I don't think it compares to having it in the game itself.
Thanks so much for playing <3
Oddly hypnotic. Nice work!
*The hypno-toad compels you*
Really enjoyed the kind of pikmin frog building mechanic. I was getting overwhelmed with enemies a lot but I sorta wonder if my tactics were wrong. The sprites were super well drawn and I liked the music and overall survival aspect. It would be cool to make super good build and just dominate the zone, so I think there is great replayability here as well!
Thanks for playing ^^ Surprised this is the first time pikmin has been mentioned, you're so right. My goal was to make builds that people could spam for fun, like a full doge-only build. So glad you thought it was repayable <3
cool game! you've probably heard this feedback a lot already, but it's difficult to realize that there's more units to spawn than just soldier. i actually did manage to get really far without switching the mode, but there were so many enemies onscreen that i just gave up because it became so laggy! once i realized that i could switch the mode, though, the game became a lot easier. over time the game becomes a lot more of a cakewalk, as you can just get more and more movement speed to avoid enemies, and more and more mass per fly to simply spawn bomber frogs as much as you need. maybe the game could benefit from more powerful enemy types, as opposed to spawning too many basic enemies? either way, it's a very solid gameplay loop! i also really loved the art and music, it's super cute :) great job!
Thanks for the detailed review. After all these comments it's really making me rethink how low I put tutorials on the to-do list lmao
I really only had time to program waves up to 10, and I guess 10-20 had some things.
I was going to add some toads every few rounds that obliterate your army.
Optimisation was the very last thing on my list, sorry for the low fps 🫡
Really appreciate you taking the time to play <3
Hey, cool game! I liked the upgrade options and nice details in the animations. The attacks felt pretty weak compared to just kiting the mobs and collecting flies, which is what I did up to round 12 before getting caught on an edge and getting wiped :p Good job!
Haha I'm glad you like the animations, I call those types of animations 'lazy animations'. So I'm glad they were acceptable. 100% circle mode is the most froge-pilled strat. I had some ideas to make that gameplay style a little harder by adding traps on the ground.
Cheers for playing <3
Had a lot of fun running around. The scaling went crazy after a while and I couldn't keep up with the amount of enemies so I kept running in circles.
The upgrades feel good and make a difference, was expecting to have some other soldiers I could spawn or an upgrade that would improve the ones I had
I liked the details like the grass moving when something goes through it :) we did that too on our game!
Great entry I enjoyed it!
Omg I'm so glad you noticed the grass details lmao. I just had to add something like that at any cost.
Just checking, did you press the 1/2/3 keys to change the soldier spawn modes?
Otherwise, at one point I planning to unlock more frog modes (more than the 3 already added), with either upgrade cards or when you reached a certain round.
fun fact: There was going to be a 4th healer class froge, however I didn't include it because I thought it would be too OP
So glad you enjoyed it <3 Thanks for playing :D
Oh I didn't notice the 1/2/3 keys would change the soldiers! I have to play again to see this
