How does your game represent Mode?
As a kid, I thought the word "Mowed" was spelled like "Mode", so we spent an ungodly number of hours making a game about it.

Interesting and unique mowed game design! It took me a while to figure out what was hitting me, those grass bits looked so innocent.

The gameplay of this one was really good with this game who knew protecting flowers could be so intense. Loved the gameplay mechanic of the rock and the log changing the way the lawnmower shoots. Plus you have the ranking system in this game too for player who want to improve. The art was fantastic too I loved the design of the main menu.

The characters are adorable, and their palette and animations are awesome! I loved how happy and oblivious the little guy looked while destroying my flowers. Maybe adding a timer could help to notice how much time is left to finish the level. Great work!

It's funny that you mention that!  Our team's artist suggested adding a gas meter that depletes over time, signifying how much time is left in the stage.  It would have been the right move, but I was committed to the 4:3 aspect ratio by that point and the field of play fills up the whole screen, leaving no room for UI elements.  Thanks for taking the time to play our game and leave feedback!

Nice another lawn care development professional. Neat concept and good interpretation of the theme. The audio really matched the style of gameplay. Definitely stands out as something you would hear walking through an 80's arcade. Cool stuff, fun loop, great design.

Lawn Gang!!!  I'm glad you could still enjoy our lawn game after two and a half tireless weeks of creating your own.  Thanks for the play and the positive feedback, I'll be sure to hit you back with a download and my thoughts in the coming days!

As a fellow lawnmowing enthusiast I enjoyed this take on the idea of mowing haha. It's actually super tricky on some of the later levels, and requires some good memorization and execution to complete. Good job overall, I especially love the art of the kid and the player.

A fellow grass guru, you say?  It's funny, we thought our interpretation of the prompt was SO original.  Still, all of the lawn games to come out of this jam look very distinct from one another and I'm excited to try them all.  Thanks for spreading the lawn love, and may your soil be weed-free.

MY PRECIOUS FLOWERS NOOOOO!

But seriously this game is good. It definitely reminds me of old Atari and Namco games I've played. And it's so much fun. (And is that kid intentionally trying to mow rocks what's wrong with him!?) It took me a bit to realize that the grass clippings were dangerous and not just visual polish, but that's my only criticism. Everything else is great! And the theme interpretation is 10/10, completely unique.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for pointing that out!  I can totally see how that would be confusing; high-speed blades of grass aren't very threatening in real life, after all.  I'm glad the Namco influence shined through, because we were aiming for a Dig Dug-esque experience with this one.  I appreciate the play and the kind/constructive feedback!

Nice art and animations on characters! I felt as anxious as the player character looked when trying to save my dear sunflowers.

Warms my heart to see so many people invested in Ray's plight.  I hope Bimmie Jr. didn't get too many of 'em :)

That's far more swearing at a cartoon child than I would have preferred to do today... I thought I could get one over on 'em by planting where he'd already "mode", but he's as bad at mowing as I was a kid so he got me with silver once or twice. Very well done, really cute entry!

Developer(+1)

That's a good strategy, you had every reason to believe that it'd work.  Unfortunately, Bimmie Jr. is a very silly boy and he does not care about your best laid plans.  Thanks for the play, and I'll be sure to give you some feedback on your game soon.

Cute artwork! Simple but fun, I like the arcade style music.

Thanks for trying our game out!  I love the art and music too- I never thought I'd get to work on a game that looks and sounds this good.  Slug Mode looks like madness (in a good way,) so I'm looking forward to playing it later this week.

Hopefully it's not TOO surprising!  I've been playing games since I was old enough to hold a controller, so I'm hoping all those years have given me some insight into what makes for fun gameplay.  Thanks for giving our game a shot and bringing the positivity- I'm excited to try out your game when I get the chance!
