A nicely presented tile merging/adjacency resource bonus kind of game, but the experience playing has room to improve with some really unfair map generation possibilities and some awkward pacing when you basically complete the objective early.
- My favorite part of this was the presentation, like the tiles being at visible heights so you could have an idea of where the water might rise to, before the nice 2 step warning of yellow/red notifications, it was nice to see and interact with.
Though simple the animations helped give some extra life to the tiles as you played with them too.
In general I think there was a good collection of possible combinations to interact with on the island, with +/-'s that you could make sense of.
For the amount of changes that happen when you move/combine tiles, the presentation of the value changes was well designed-though darkening the tiles in the affected radius would be nice.
- Regrettably after my 4th attempt at island 5 had me start with -11 food, I had to stop playing there.
I think the method of generating the board, food requirement and map size began to hurt the gameplay and pace at that point instead. Some more time customizing the generation could really strengthen the experience.
I like that all the characters that will reach the island are stuck on tiles in the surrounding area, with a great touch of them jumping/jumping less for the first then second group coming up to join. However it would be nice if that information was more immediately present, like a board similar to the total count that was to the right of the current islanders with a '+X', of however many will join after you act.
Thanks for this honest and valuable feedback, It's really appreciated. Your remarks make sense. As you can image, we didn't have enough time to do all we want. But if we decide to make something bigger, your remarks will become feature !
No worries, happy to hear it was valuable for you :) .
Yup, you got a lot in the game as is so can totally understand, good luck refining it further if you continue with it.
+ Wonderful art style!
+ Loved the animal noises - very funny!
+ Really cool game mechanics
+ Lots of fun, well done!
- I'd like more combinations!
- Maybe the difficulty ramp isn't quite right? I think that the first island is a little tough. I would suggest having less tile variation to explain the concept a bit more and then introduce new tiles and new combinations on later islands.
Thanks you for your feedback. You're absolutly right. We ran out of time ><'. :) Thanks for playing it !!
Bravo!!!!
very polished, really liked
Thanks you. :)
Super nice, I love the 2.5d style! Really interesting resource management game, experimenting with the different merging outcomes is really fun!
Thanks you for playing and feedback ! I'm glad you enjoyed it !
Really like this game. Always fond of this kind of management. Nice artwork, splendid entry!
Thanks you very much !!!
This was quite a bit of fun to just chill out to and try to puzzle through. I really like the calming sounds and simple mechanics of combining things into smaller but more efficient spaces. Nice.
Thanks you for playing and feedback ! :) It was our first sound design from scratch. I'm happy you find it chill !
It took a little bit to understand, but when I did, I was having a lot of fun! You could totally flesh this out into an actual big game with more mechanics and whatnot. The only issue I had is that once I got my food above what the population was going to be, I just kept doing random moves that gave me zero points just to get all the people and win, like moving a plain onto another plain. As (I think) Sid Meiers would say, I was optimizing the fun out of the game. Maybe if there was some sort of incentive to get extra food? idk. Great game overall, I’d totally pay for a bigger version of it.
Thanks for your valuable feedback. It's true that when you have enough, the only challenge is too not loose them into water, and some incentive mechanic to get extra food will be welcomed.
It took me a couple of trial to understand it well, but in conclusion nice mechanics, very good visuals and a relaxing atmosphere, even if there is a flood.
Thanks you for playing and feedback. Yes, it's seems we have to work on the tutorial. :)
Had lots of fun playing this game. It reminds me of islanders in a way.
I can't say it was not an inspiration :)
Loved the art style! The gameplay was a bit though to get into at first, I think the tutorial part could have been expanded on teaching with the numbers mean and what the different buildings do. But I got it in the end and was pretty fun to play!
Thanks for your feedback. The tutorial part is always the hardest for me: give enough information without overwhelming. That's tough !
I really like this "different" style of visuals. The gameplay is very nice, I love games like this.
Thanks you for playing and feedback :).
Cute game, interesting concept. Sounds are nice, visuals too.
Thanks you :)
awesome game
Thanks you for playing :).
First: I love the concept, and strategy/hex games are so unusual in game jams, so yeah it is pretty cool. The theme is respected, the arts are good. I really love it. Congrats ! (I think the rules could be a bit more explicit, it took me some time to understand all the combinations, the meaning of each number, but it all made sense by the end).
Thanks for playing and your feedback. Do you have some idea to make it more explicit (without to muchtext) ? Thanks you !
Maybe something like “When you drag a tile onto another tile, you will get a completely new tile. Each tile has different bonuses based on what’s near it. Experiment for yourself and see what kinds of tiles you can make!
:/ i cant beat the first isle. But the concept is good. I like the sound and graphics
Thanks for playing ! Sorry to hear that you cant beat the first Isle, first one is meant to be easy. You certainly had a particularly not favourable random generation.
Great Visuals!
Thanks you !! :) It was a pleasure to work on it !
A pretty fun strategy game! The visuals are great too!
Thanks for playing and for your feedback :) !!
I like the mix of 2d and 3d, kind of reminds me of Don't Starve
Thanks you ! I like the reference !! :)
