I liked the concept, it uses the jam theme very well. I like the visuals, but I think that the start screen is too different from the in game one. A very enjoyable game, good job mate!

If you have some time I would really appreciate if you can check my game :D Thank you so much!

Wow! Now that's what a  boss fight is like. You just made one stage and showed everything in it. The boss was hard, well designed, and followed a pattern. It was so much fun defeating him. This was one of the boss fights where every defeat would be the player's mistake as the player did something without thinking. Brilliant! Thanks for your game!

Please consider playing and rating my game as well. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!! Cheers!!

Awesome game man, loved the variety of attack patterns in the boss and the lower his health became, the harder he could hit.

Nice game and good idea, but way too hard. A little tutorial, a few lines of text would be enough, would be nice.

Really well designed boss encounter! I love the heat/cooldown mechanic and the way it effects both you and the boss. Making it a matter of survival and outlasting each other was a nice move. I felt like I was witnessing a match from robot wars at one point haha! The art work is really nice and everything felt nicely balanced. I didn't find myself using the shield much, but simply learning the boss patterns and how to move around it was a really fun experience. I saw you mentioned your small time frame to get this done so it's a very impressive turn around. If you had a bit more time, some music and sounds would have enhanced the experience even more, but to produce this in the time you had was great!

Nice work :)

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! Ahaha you're right, it feels like a robot war episode!

I also liked your game, nice work :)

Great mechanics, clean artwork. Took me awhile to get a hang of it, but after that it's really fun to play. If you add music later on, it will definitely take the game to another level :)

This was a fun entry to the jam!
Theme:
The game did get more difficult because of the less powerups. The only critique I have on it, is that it isn't a main focus of the game. It felt like you could play through the boss fight once and be done with the game. There was no reward to engage the player to play a second time. Which if a player left after the first round of the boss, made the theme obsolete. But I do like the concept of this!

Visuals:

The art looks like a flash game. Nothing wrong with that though. I love the style and it is very cohesive all the way thru.  I did wish the player was a different color or popped a little more.

Sounds/Music:

This area was  sadly lacking.

Overall:

This was a solid entry, that could have used some additional info to help ensure the player understood the rules of the game.  The boss was unique and had an interesting design.  It was a challenge to play through the first time, but had little incentive to go through with the second time.  Also the shield seemed to lack function, so I was not sure how to play through a second time even if I wanted too.  But thank you for joining and showing off your entry! Great work!!!

Very cool game! It was a little challenging at first as the big boss hits hard, but once I got the hang of it, it really reminded me of an old school arcade game! I'd say to improve it a little bit, would be to add some audio, that and maybe add a long-range weapon to make the fight a little more fair on the player

The game is seriously awesome with a lot of variety(even with one enemy) and has a lot of improvement potentials.

But i still have no idea how to fight without the blade(with the shield) and i would have really liked a healthbar for the boss and some sound effects could have gotten a long way in making the game way more awesome than it already is.

Overall great job on the game.

Obviously, the game lacks music and sound, but you probably already know that.

With that out of the way, I REALLY LIKE THIS GAME! The sword and shield combat, combined with the healing mechanic gives a really neat rythm to the combat; you go in, dish out damage, get damaged, step back and heal.

The cooling down is also really well done; when I first read about it in the description I got a bit worried. If it was too slow, then it'd break the pace of the game. If it was too fast then it'd be broken. Thankfully, your game fits neither: It works. It takes the perfect amount of time; it's not slow enough to break the pace of the game, but also not fast enough you can do it whenever you want to; you need to consider when it's safe to stop and cool down.

My only problem with the game (other than the lack of sound) is the third fight; as I don't have anything to damage the boss with, that means it's up to the boss to kill itself, and that's just not really engaging; with the other fights it felt like I  was damaging the boss, it was my task to kill the boss. Here it's just waiting; withouth a hands-on objective (damaging the boss), a survival task like that really isn't engaging.

Other than the third fight, I really, really like this game. It has a great flow to it, and combined with the great art style, this is a great game.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

In the beginning of development, the boss would let off steam every now and then, and the player could place near its exhaust to prevent that to the boss overheat. However, this mechanic was difficult to implement without slowing the rhythm of the boss fight, so I just opted for the final version.

I really missed sound and music, but my main complaint is, that your game didn't convey crucial information to me well enough. After I beat the boss, I thought the game was over, but then I checked the description and it turns out it continues but with some restrictions to the player.

Aside from all of that, I liked the boss abilities and boss logic, and the graphics are cool too.

I Love the animations! I just didnt understand what the shield does, It didnt block the lazers, or hurt the machine, So what does it do?

Developer

The shield can be used to block projectiles, but using it makes you overheat so it's not op. As the game evolved during the development, the shield became less useful. I thought about replacing it with some type of ranged weapons, but I had no time.

Thanks for the feedback!

I had a lot of fun with your game. The topic of overheating before the life bar was an excellent idea. Congratulations

I absolutely love this! The art is great and the gameplay feels really solid. The amount of polish in the visuals is amazing, from the smoke particles to the enemies health being displayed on the pressure gauge. The fact that you made this in 3 days blows my mind! It would have been really nice if there was a victory screen because after killing mr roomba without any weapon or shield it just told me to restart and then I wasn't 100% sure if I'd won or not.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it, I also really enjoyed yours!

Thanks for the feedback about the victory screen, and congratulations, you definitely won the game!

Woah that’s a really cool game! I like this art and the gameplay. The animations are awesome! Good job!

Nice game, the dropping weapons/shield adds some more layer to it although it would have been nice to see more attacking patterns from the enemy

Developer

Thank you, I really liked your game

Were you the one that called my boss an "evil roomba"? I'm still laughing

yes that was me :D now you know what to call the sequel :P
