The game's pretty rough around teh edges but when I wasn't dying due to the janky physics I was having a good time; trying to figure out what size you needed to be at and what potion to be carrying with you was a fun puzzle to solve and I enjoyed it a good bit', good job'

(1 edit)

On retrospective having 2/3rds of the enemy spawns  randomly become the background decoration was NOT a good idea haha.

The music is kind of really bad; going in I knew - music's my worse aspect,  I need to make something passable and make the rest of the game good enough to compensate. Overall - I agree with all your points there'; thank you!

That did happen a lot - and it was more annoying than fun, really. Doing a wrong move manouvering a cube and having to go all the way back and slowly and carefully bring it around to complete the puzzle isn't reallly fun in a puzzle game; the game's about solving the puzzle, not about executing it, after all.

Really weird that you can move with WASD and the arrow keys but only jump with the arrow keys. The graphics were nice; I really liked the ground tiles.

Ayyy really nice!

I really, REALLY like the 2D character on 3D ambient you've made; really really nice.

The gameplay was simple and nice although learning it was pretty tricky - if you don't notice the block falling on the other at the beginning you can get kinda stuck, which I did. Also, kinda weird that there's a button to push the cubes rather than to pick up/down the cubes.

These issues aside, I really liked everything else - the music, the sound, the graphics, all very solid. Nice job!

The game's good! I like it.
The art was REALLY good - easy 5 stars there. The gameplay was also really good - moving around the peasants on the tower was really fun. Main problem is that the difficulty ramps up way too fast and the archer is kind of a waste of money; the enemies very often aren't on an angle that the archer can hit.

Ayy, got to round 24!

Gave 4 stars on everything except for the Audio and the Graphics, due to you using premade assets and on the gameplay due to the massively distracting juice and the dissapearing bullets.

Overall - I really like the game. My main problem with the game is the juice. Damn it's kinda... bad. The screenshaking is EXTREMELY strong - you can literally see the edges of the screen wiggling around like jello whenever you do anything. It's very, very distracting. Also - the enemies have an exploding death animation but they make a grunt rather than an explosion sound when they die? Overall I'd say the juice is the weakest part of the game and does bring the experience down.

Other than that - I realy like the main idea. I went for a attack speed, multi-bullet build while denying my enemies attack speed and bullets; that way I didn't need to spend much energy aiming and cound focus on dodging. And because I didn't buff their bullets it was easy to dodge. That did lead to me having to open all 4 portals and get 3 waves, which was my downfall.

The game is rather buggy, with the dissapearing bullets and enemies getting stuck on the ceiling, but overall, really nice game. Great job'!

Ayyy I like the game'.

The gameplay was fun - the platforming's solid. The jump on the moving block was a bit hard but I got it after a while. Getting the ducking star was REALLY hard; I kept trying to slide off the platform on top into it until I thought about walljumping off that wall. Maybe it could have been more clear how to reach it.

Talking about being clear: I really like the invisible tutorial. The way you go forward to a dead end to then be forced to go backwards, to be in a pit to be forced to jump, etc.

Oh - and fyi, you don't need the ducking star. You can walljump over the wall separating you and the heart.

Gameplay aside the graphics were REALLY nice however I'm taking away points for taking em' online rather than making in the jam. The sound effects were really nice but the constant background noise was pretty ehh'. It did stop when I colllected the heart and it made for a really good atmosphere with the silence and the sound effects.

Overall - really nice! Good job!

Ayy. Clearly it's far from finished, so I can't give much feedback, and of course it has some implications in the ratings.

That aside, it's a bit hard to give some feedback based on how barebones it is haha'. I will say tho, the graphis are real good for how much time you had (or at least I imagine you had)'; really nice. I like it.

Ay nice! Pretty fun game; I beat all levels.

You never can go wrong with Minesweeper, but I feel like there could have been some spin on it. Maybe you have a time limit till the baloon hits the ground, and patching it up gives more time? Idk. As it is rn, it just feels like regular minesweeper on a baloon. Wich isn't a bad thing mind you, but it could be more.

That aside, I really like the art; the presentation is very pretty on this one. I also like how only the baloon is colored, so as you go playing the more the baloon is reveled and the more colorful the screen becomes.

Overall, pretty cool game! I enjoyed!

I enjoyed a lot this game!

Jumping, slashing and shooting was very fun, and the art was very good as well. However, I'm not sure how to approach the knife dudes when I have a knife?

It seems to just be a coin toss; they randomly swing their knifes, their knife is the same size as mine and the knife also hits above their head. There's no safe way for me to attack them with the knife, and due to them swinging it randomly I endup randomly getting hit against them as well.

That aside, the rest of the game is pretty good, well-designed and more importantly, fun! I like it.

I really like the simplicity of this game; most puzzle games are "you move on a grid, but there's this really sick twist"; here, the puzzles aren't some mind-bending eldrich nightmare but rather the level design pushing the grid-based movement, something I really like. It does a lot with very little, very in spirit of the jam.

Ay nice game!

I really like the presentation; it's really, well, minimalistic! The gameplay is also solid. There's 2 problems I have with the gameplay however;

  • 1: You can just put all items from one side to the other and win
  • 2: Sometimes there are multiple of the same item that you need and the game only recognizes one of them, forcing the player to put in-and-out all of the copies of the item till they find the right one.

Those complaints aside, I really like it; it has a solid gameplay and doesn't overstay its welcome. Really good package all around!

I really like this game.

The story really touched me, with the message of not giving up and still trying. I love the atmosphere; the character design, black-and-white aesthetic, the music, etc. I also really like how the more the protagonist starts giving up, the deeper he falls, but by the end he's platforming up. Really cool symbolism!

..also, btw, wacky stuff happen when you spam jump. One time I ended skyrocketing into the sky, but most of the time it ended giving infinite mini-double jumps.

I REALLY liked this game!

The controls are water-tight, the gameplay fun, the level design was fun to traverse, I really enjoyed my time with it.

However, I think the game's too hard; firstly, it's way harder than it should to exit that first room you spawn in. Having a tutorial room where you have no time limit would have gave the player time to figure out the controls; putting a super tight time constraint on a player trying to figure out how to play isn't really that good.

After I did managed to learn how to play, I really really enjoyed my time with the game. Fast, tight and precise; really damn nice. However, I didn't managed to clear the first level, but I did managed to enjoy a lot the game.

I like it! The game feels good; the attack makes a sound, a particle effect, and hit enemies flash red. The only thing that lacks are particles flying out, but the game's still fun to play withouth that.

I feel kinda weird about the whole "weaker = more points"; while it's a subversion and all that, players like being strong, specially in a shooter game like this. Making so the most fun way of playing the game is also the less effective for getting points is kinda weird, in my opinion.

That aside, I really like everything else; the character customization, the art, etc. Pretty well-made game!

Ay, fun lil' game!

The art's super adorable, and I really like the main mechanic; having everything be controled by 1 button is always interesting. I will say that it feels a bit "heavy" when you start charging, like you're struggling to change the trajectory y'know? I think making it change a bit faster on the start and a bit slower later on would make the game control even better

I like the idea of balancing all 3 needs while reflecting on being a rat, but the platforming kinda ruined it for me; I spent more time trying to jump into the higher area rather than eating, sleeping or exercising.

As others mentioned, the turning around is super sluggish, but I also think the rat's hitbox is bigger than it needs to be and the momentum isn't quite right.

The platforming aside, the game is great at creating and mantaining a mood; the music, graphics and (if the platforming worked) gameplay all create this weird mood that I strangely like. Making everything fit together to make a mood as cohesive as this one isn't an easy task, and this does it masterfully. The only part where it really stumbles is in that platforming, where it kinda breaks the entire thing.

But hey - you got one of the hardest parts of making a game really well-done; that's something to be proud of, even if the end result didn't quite come together like expected.

Yo nice game! I really like the art; it's simple, cute and elegant.

However, I'll say that the controls are a bit sloppy; the character doesn't stop moving when I release the key, making it feel very slippery, uncontrolably and a bit bad to control. Other than that, the game's pretty good; I like the art and music. The concept is super simple but less is more, not just in the gamejam but also in life; the game does give a pretty sweet package. A simple one, but a good one noneotherless. Nice work!

I may like this game more than I should xD

This is the first Game Jam game I came back to on a second day, and damn this game is great. I already did a comment with all my thoughts and feedback on the game so I won't really do it a second time. Can't wait for the mobile release!

Btw, got a 112 (37%) on the daily board! >:D I doubt it's even possible to beat that!

Obviously, the game lacks music and sound, but you probably already know that.

With that out of the way, I REALLY LIKE THIS GAME! The sword and shield combat, combined with the healing mechanic gives a really neat rythm to the combat; you go in, dish out damage, get damaged, step back and heal.

The cooling down is also really well done; when I first read about it in the description I got a bit worried. If it was too slow, then it'd break the pace of the game. If it was too fast then it'd be broken. Thankfully, your game fits neither: It works. It takes the perfect amount of time; it's not slow enough to break the pace of the game, but also not fast enough you can do it whenever you want to; you need to consider when it's safe to stop and cool down.

My only problem with the game (other than the lack of sound) is the third fight; as I don't have anything to damage the boss with, that means it's up to the boss to kill itself, and that's just not really engaging; with the other fights it felt like I  was damaging the boss, it was my task to kill the boss. Here it's just waiting; withouth a hands-on objective (damaging the boss), a survival task like that really isn't engaging.

Other than the third fight, I really, really like this game. It has a great flow to it, and combined with the great art style, this is a great game.

I like it!

I really like how the words you can use in the "ask" part are highlighted in blue; it took me a few seconds to figure it out, but when I did it was pretty satisfying; it walked very well on the "not too easy to figure out but also not too hard to notice" line.

I can see this game being pretty good; the main thing that the game lacks is polish.

If the game had particle effects when you hit enemies, if the game had a "pew" sound when you shot and stuff like that, this game would be mad fun, but withouth these player feedbacks it just feels a bit lackluster to shoot and move around

Ay I like this game!

Shooting and eating enemies is a lot of fun, although I don't see much a point in expanding the web? It didn't seem to give me benefits other than just making the arena bigger.

The boss fight was too hard I'd say; even if you go in with full web you can't kill the boss, having to wait in place for some time, wich would be fine if it wasn't for the boss' insane attack; there's no animation for when it's about to attack, you just have to guess when the big spider will stop walking and immediately shot. It'd greatly benefit if it stopped in place a bit before attacking, had an animation, a sound cue, anything really, but as it is rn it's too hard to predict when you have to start moving.

Other than the boss, super great game! The gameplay is solid, the art is excelent and the music is really good. I really like this game!

Finally, a true gaming experience - I washed the duck.

I love the quack sounds! So cute.

It's a cute lil' game; you mentioned you only worked on this in a day, right? If so, niiice! The game's fun for a 24 hours game jam. Landing a combo feels super satisfying to hit, but the game has really almost no depth to it.

There's no reason why not to just tag your entire hand as a combo, so if you win any of the rounds you just win the game. Plus, it's just complete RNG if you'll land a hit every round. If you were to expand on the game, it'd say to put more things to consider when picking a move rather than it being completely relied on chance if a certain move is good or not.

I really, really like this game!

I love the blueprint aesthetic; it really makes the whole game together visually.  I also love the soudn the character makes when walking; it reminds me of the sound characters make in cartoons when sneaking out, really neat.

My only gripe with the game is the difficulty; some levels are way too hard, requiring some precising manouvers. Other than that, it's a great game; I loved it!

I liked it; it's a pretty immersive exploration game; reminds me of Yumme Nikki a bit, but not much. I also really liked the chat; specially when he said "Nice guess, Faz!" after I guessed the word with just half the word.

Ay I like it!

The art style's simple but charming, same with the gameplay. It was a tad too hard, at least for me; never could make it past the first bend on the river. Eitherway, loved this game.

(Btw, is it just me or was that a Ho-oh flying on the background?)

I like this game!

I really like the hud, it really looks like a ship's steering wheel. My main problem with the game is that the goal of the level is always exactly the amount of trash in the level. This means that if you missed 1, you'd have to look the entire map to find it, like finding a needle in a haystack; it'd be better if there were a bit more than needed so finding the last ones is easier.

Eitherway, really really cool game, specially for a game jam! Nice work!

Ay I love this game!

The game is very polished and fun to play, and a great brainteaser. Also, I really like the touch of the color of the borders indicating where the blocks will endup; really nice.

Btw, I got a 119 (41%) on board seed 198165; pretty good, hm?

Yoo really nice game!

I LOVE the aesthetic! It looks so damn cool! The game's also a lot of fun too.

My main problem with the game is the tutorial. The protagonist pausing the game every 10 seconds was really annoying, plus mixing story and tutorial like that also didn't help much. Maybe if before the game there was a cutscene explaining the story the tutorial can be more focused.

Eitherway, loved the game!

I feel like I should like this game more than I like it tbh.

The platforming feels good, shooting has the proper feedback, everything has particles, screen shake, sound effects, etc.

But it feels like something's missing; I think this game doesn't really have anything "special". There's no unique mechanic, no unique spin on an idea, no unique narrative or even unique setting. It feels very by-the-book; "a platforming game must be able to jump, have collectibles, moving platforms, etc".

If this game had a unique something, anything, it'd probably be my favorite of the jam, but it lacks this spice to make it trully great. It has all the fundamentals of game making nailed down, but it need more courage to experiment with new mechanics, new themes, new ideas, to create something unique.

A great book isn't one that has no spelling mistakes in its words but one that makes something new with the words, and I think the same applies here. It got the basics down, but it would greatly benefit from going a bit wilder with its ideas.

Yo! Nice game!

I really dig the 1-bit artstyle; it's very unique. The graphics, sounds and gameplay are all simple but good, fitting the theme of the jam. I feel like the game could use some particles; maybe some pixels fly out when you pick a coin, or a small dust cloud when you jump. Small stuff like that.

Also - I really like how a sound effect plays when you reach the peak of your jump, although I think the sound effect ya'll chose is a bit too hard on the ears; a more subtle sound would make this feature even better.

Overall, fun, nice game.

Yo! Nice game!

I like the aesthetic, with the brainy walls and the emotion enemies.

The gameplay could get some juicing up; hiting enemies could make some particles fly out of them, and while you're connecting and dominating an emotion having the enemy glow or have some particles fly out would be pretty cool.

Also - sometimes I enter a room and the enemies immediately jump on me, giving no room to dodge. I feel like that should be fixed, maybe the enemies won't attack for a second after you entered a room?

Eitherway, nice game! I enjoyed it.

I like this! The mechanic is creative and gives lots of long term vs short term decisions. My main problem with the game is level 5, the purple level (I think it was called "The Cursed City"? Can't remember exactly).  There's way too many areas where it's almost if not impossible to get hit withouth destroying enemies, causing the later parts of the stage to become infested.

I really like the game, but I think destroying enemies should be a plan B if you can't or don't want to dodge something, not required to go unharmed through a section.

I like this game!

It's fun and quick-paced, and also not too overly-difficult. I like the story and art; it's cute and charming.

My only problems with the game is how the yellow mine is a tad too punishing; maybe having the forks be a bit more spaced apart? Also, at the end of the game, I think it should say "YOU WON!" rather than "GAME OVER!". Having a written conclusion for the story would also be nice.

Overall; really fun game! I enjoyed it.

I LOVE THIS GAME!

This game is unironically amazing. The main puzzle mechanic is simple yet gives room for some great puzzles, the visuals are charming and non-obtrusive, it sounds nice, it's perfectly balanced, god I love this game. This game could easily be expanded upon and released on Steam and become a super good puzzle game like Baba is You or Steven's Sausage Roll.

I like this game.

It's immersive, the story is pretty good, and I really like how unbtrusive the tutorial is at the start. This game can easily be expanded upon and get like, a full Steam release, like Paper's Please. I really like this!
