Pretty good I really enjoyed the visuals and the way you presented the game elements is a good thing to highlight! Took a few tries to figure out but it is definitely doable! Good Job
Thank you for your kind words and taking your time to try my game! :)
sir it is the best game i have played so far! 5/5!
Thanks a lot! I like your profile pic! ;)
it feels kinda odd when you have bright colorful sprite in the middle of void dark but i like the art,
good game and really appreciate the effort you for this game
Thank you! :)
Really nice visuals, the sci fi look is something that shines so well in this game, I like it a lot really, the mechanics are awesome too, you made a cooll game really, sorry I couldnt check before the jam end, its a cool game
Asdronin! I have to say something to you!
I really have to take my hat off to you because, looking at your activities so far, you’re someone who not only submitted an amazing game, but you also went through every single game and tried them all. I have no idea how you managed to do that, but seriously, hats off! I even told my brother about you, that there’s a guy here who actually went through all the games and wrote detailed reviews. I don’t know where you found all that time and energy, but huge respect! I wish I had that much time. I’ve received some criticism because I rated games without playing them. I really didn’t have time to play every single one, but I tried to focus on aspects that were clearly visible on the profile pages, like graphics, design, and so on. I believe that after putting in so much work, everyone deserves at least some recognition for their game. For me, it’s almost impossible to play through 900 games when my week is mostly filled with work. But it’s really nice to see such dedicated people like you, and I sincerely hope you win or at least place high! Give it your all, boss! ;)
Oh, and thank you very much for what you wrote about my game! :) I hope my 5 stars help contribute to your victory! :P
I mean spam ratting its a strategy for sure... one only needs time and copy paste lol, hopefully good games win and not who spams faster XD
I did a little banner to advertise while ratting but playing the games took way too much time, so it would be impossible to play them and rate, still I wouldn't feel proud to copy pasting "rated rate mine" if I haven't actually played their games XP
Whatever "Spam Ratting" means, I think you actually meant Jam Rating! ;)
While spam refers to unwanted content, the essence of a JAM is that we mutually rate each other's creations. You know what else is needed besides copy and paste? Dedication! The fact that, alongside work, you sacrifice your precious free time to rate other people's creations - based on the available information! - even when you have very little time for a ton of projects.
By the way ... how do you know which games I played and which ones I didn’t? :)
Not being able to play through all 900 projects - which is practically impossible - doesn't mean they can't be rated! Of course, I could have just sat in front of my monitor, waiting for a miracle, only to realize at the end of the competition that my project had 2-3 ratings. Then, I could have left some half-baked comment under other people's entries. But I wouldn't be proud of that... " LOL "
What I am proud of is that, even in the final moments, I was able to help people by rating their work - acknowledging their hard efforts -without expecting anything in return! Because whether or not someone rates my game back is not an expectation, just a possibility. Regardless, I still rate others, just like the many other dedicated people who took the time to check out and rate as many projects as possible, whether they played them fully or not. What's the problem with writing a few kind words on each other's games..!?
This screenshot was taken in the last hour. What kind of rating do you think I could have expected in return in just one hour?
Not to mention, I also gave 5 stars to the most rated games in the last minutes so that the best one could win! Because I didn’t have time to try each one individually. Sportsmanship is much more important than personal victory! Have a Great Day!
Ps.: Good games win. The judges are not fools; they will consider every circumstance. I’ve long since stopped expecting my game to win anything. That’s not why I made it. I did it because I wanted to fully take part in this JAM, making the most of the time available - especially since I had to miss all the previous ones in past years due to lack of time!
Fair enough, I am not attacking you so no need to go full defensive mode lol, I am saying copy paste "rated, plz check mine" can be a strategy since the person doing so can go way up in the Popularity and on the Karma list, and ppl tend to be nice and rate back making you go up in the most ranked list, nothing wrong with that if u do it , I said " I "wouldn't feel proud to just rate without playing the game not you, but that's me XD anyways, best of luck with the entry o7
Thank you for the clarification Gendgi! In that case, please don't be upset if I reacted poorly or misunderstood your previous message. Yes, you're right - it’s difficult to determine what counts as a good approach in a jam with such a large number of participants. By the way, you raised valid questions, and your concerns are absolutely reasonable. Once again, I apologize if I overreacted! Thanks for the kind wishes, and I wish you all the best as well! Also, your cat is adorable! ;)
So it looks like it’s more focused on frenzy shooting than balancing or forcing the player to die and retry. The recovery rate is quite high and obviously infinite lives make it doable in one rush, although you can challenge yourself to rush without losing a life. But considering your lack of time, it was a smart way to ensure the game is finishable.
I was pretty impressed by the graphics, not just the sprites themselves but all the shaders around to give it a scifi look.
The first boss was the hardest as there is a gimmick to understand and you must stop spamming shots continuously. It disturbed me that you can only move horizontally and only on that boss, it forced me to wait for the right moment to shoot and makes it harder to experiment shooting at different locations. But the gimmick itself is clever.
After that it’s mostly about barriers. The first one rotates a bit too fast to rotate around, the further ones are okay as you always find openings to shoot through - and the barriers break if you shoot them too much anyway.
I think barriers damage you too much, at the end I was only focused on dodging them and didn’t care about hitting asteroids or projectiles are they would relatively damage you much less, and you can recover that.
UI issues
I pressed Escape once to open pause menu, then Escape again to close pause menu and it closed the game!
Thank you very much for the detailed and technical analysis! ;)
Nice! Congratulations on your work!
THX A LOT! :))
Very good production value! Felt some free hidden-gem game I could find on an old Gamestar or PC Guru DVD then playing it for hours without an end :D
I had 3 idea for this game jam, the deck builder was the 3rd, the 1st was something like a "dark souls like boss rush" and the second was a pixelart top-down scifi shooter so you nailed the genre of my second idea :D
My idea was boring tho and abandoned it, your game is fun and greatly coherent with the art and music - and also the rap song in the YT video is wild!
All in all, great submission :D
Fiiiinaaallyyy someone actually listened to the music! :D Man, it was an absolute blast reading your comment! We need more people like you on this planet called Earth! :D Thanks for every kind word, I can see you’re a big retrohead too—Gamestar, PC Guru, absolute classics, a source of so many great and nostalgic games from the '90s and 2000s!
Now, tell me, where are you from? Because I grew up with these as well, and who knows, we might even be from the same city! :)
Huge thanks for everything, and for checking out the YouTube track too! I actually made it out of frustration when my game only had one rating :D I thought it would be a fun little extra, hoping someone would like it—so I’m really happy to see I’m not the only one listening to it 2-3 times a day! :D
