How does your game fit the theme?
In "JellyVolt," your reflexes will be put to the test as you swerve and glide past treacherous poison-spewing sea snakes, all while skillfully sidestepping the menacing embrace of spiky starfish. To ascend the ranks and claim the top spot, you'll need to feast on the smaller, nimble green fish, amassing points to prove your dominance of the underwater arena.

But there's more to your arsenal than meets the eye. Harness the power of electric bolts, your trusty companions in dispatching the lurking sea creatures that threaten your existence. Yet, remember, strategy is paramount; these bolts are limited in number, so every shot must count.

The aim is the phsycally Dive Deeper to gain a higher score.

I really like this, it is very chill and casual. I really like the sound effect, it would be nice to have a cute background music though. Overall, it's cute and fit the theme perfectly.

Developer

I appreciate your feedback thank you!

Very cute, fast, and enjoyable. I can picture it on mobile, and it would work very well there too. I agree with the other comments in saying that the game feels static, and the sense of going deeper doesn't come across immediately. I would have also added a main audio track. Nonetheless, it's very charming.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I will 100% Take your feedback on board and I might add to the game in the future!

very quite game idea.. i like the jellyfish alot... i would recomment to make a moving background because it felt like i was standing in one area not diving deeper... maybe the one u made in a endless loop ...

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! The background colour does change slowly overtime but perhaps Its a little to slow!

Graphics are nice, atmosphere is cozy. I love the jellyfish animations, on point! (Thought stars would be consumable item, but eventually died D:)

I loved the graphics and the sounds. It feels like everything serves an importance in the game. I found the gameplay fun and challenging at the same time

Good entry! Nice pixel art style. The character art looks polished and consistent. The background looks like it's a higher resolution, but it works. A high score displayed after each run would be nice to see. I get so focused that I forget to check the score right before I lose haha. Overall, great job!

Developer

Thankyou for the feedback! I really appreciate the time you took to play my game!

Fun little game. the art is really good. The contrast between shooting starfish and "eating?" the little fish guys, is fun and adds a new layer to game play. Managed to get a score of 153! I did miss some form of background music/ambience, but it was still a fun game.

Great game, keep it up♥

Squishy Jellyfish!

Things I enjoyed ✔️
  1. I like the retro style you used, it really stands out, I love the colorful hazards you made as well!
  2. The little swish sound effect every time you move is adorable!
  3. The score system kept me playing! Smart idea to have that be the main goal in this game!
  4. I like how visually simple the game is, it is really easy on the eyes, and matches the retro aesthetic im guessing you were going for.
Things I would like to possibly see with your title. 🤷‍♂️
  1. Some variety in enemies/hazards would be nice too see.
  2. I would recommend including some music and additional sound effects to make the game pop.
Overall 📓

I liked your game, it was simple, yet fun! If you polish this game I can see it being a title you could charge money for! Great job on the game!

This is some of the most in depth feedback I have received and I really appreciate it, thank you!

good game concept! but needs polishing, such as start menu, score system, etc.

Incredible pixel art and very addictive gameplay loop.

Only criticism is a matter of personal preference, but I really think the stars and fish should swap roles. Usually in games stars are something that you want to collect, and aren't a threat. Technically though, this issue is entirely the fault of Nintendo, not you.

Developer

Looking back, I do agree with that you said and it is something that crossed my mind while making it! Perhaps if i made the startfish look more violet and dangerous it would have been more obvious! thank you for your feedback!

I really enjoyed the falling mechanic, especially because it's similair to my game, and one thing more.

I REALLY LOVE THE ART DESIGN >:)

Really like the interesting take this game has :o Really satisfying to just click my mouse

Developer(+1)

I appreciate the feedback! I like how we had a similar take on the theme!

Submitted(+1)

I really like the movement and all the art is really cool. It's kinda hard to tell what hurts you.  Nice job  on your entry.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I'll 100% take what you have said onboard for my next game!

Love the way the character moves. It feels natural like I was a jellyfish in a past life.

Submitted(+1)

Lol, i think i found a cheat. Simply don't move at all and you are unbeatable :-D

No critic, but just some improvement suggestions: Guess it would be helpful to also have the description inside the game, not only in the notes, because took a while to realize what is eatable and what is an enemy. Also just saw the possibility that you can shoot a bit later after already played a few rounds.

But alls in all i think it's a real nice game with simple controls that fits the theme and is definitely challenging (as soon as you start moving^^).

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the Feedback, I really appreciate it! I'm going to take on board what you said especially making it more obvious what enemies are shootable and what are eatable!

Nice graphics but too hard for me :(

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback! You'll have to keep trying and get a better score ;)
