Probably one of the best games I've played in this Jam. The graphics and animations are very nice. The gameplay is very enjoyable and I love the music theme and the concept of game.

How does your game fit the theme?
You dive deep into the protagonists mind, digging up things your character wishes to keep stored in his mind. Also you are literally diving deep by fishing!
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Almost everything, all I did that was not made by scratch was the glitch shader that is implemented for some of the sprites.

Awesome game! Loved the story, and how the game changes the more treasures you collect. The gameplay loop is also quite fun! The artstyle is very neat, and the background song sounds quite soothing, though a bit more variety would be welcome, like maybe adding more instruments/sounds as the song gets slower? The only thing I didn't like about the game was the unnecessary "am i in a game?" cliche, the rest of the writing is good, but i felt like that one didn't add anything to the story and was a bit cheesy, though this is a very minor nitpick.
(also i love how not only do you literally dive deeper into the water with your fishing hook, but you also "dive deeper" into the mystery, a combination of two popular ideas this jam)
Very well done!
Absolutely nailed the audio! And your game uses the theme very well.
To be completely honest, at first I was a bit put off by the screenshots, but it didn't take long for the art style to grow on me after opening the game. It really adds to the game's atmosphere.
The only thing that would have made this better is if items were sold faster once you reel the hook in.
Really impressive that this was made entirely by one person in a week.
Please do more game jams.
Well done, it's your first jam ? you should do more game jams :)
Nice music and fun yet profound take on the theme.
Will follow you on itch to see your next stuff.
Wow! You got me hooked with your game (haha get it?). What a simple but such an amusing concept! Wonderful game!
That story was fantastic! The gameplay loop was very satisfying and became more engaging each time a treasure was found. The game itself was already quite fun as a simple fishing game so I love how the theme has a double-meaning, both diving deeper to fish and to uncover the truth.
This is a very good game, definitely one of he best I've played on the jam.
YOU ARE A GENIUS!!! Mixing an ordinary timekiller and a deep plot worthy of becoming a victim of theorists is, damn it, an art!
I've never been fishing in my life but this is pretty much what I expect it's like.
But seriously this game is awesome, the core gameplay is fun but the story (and hidden story) adds another dimension to it. And the crappy art is so endearing.
I'm actually not sure if I made it to the end - I got all the upgrades but I wasn't sure if the last text I saw was the end of the game. I didn't find anything new at the deepest level.
Overall, awesome work!
Why is this game so good ?
-It has a story
- wiggling upgrade cards
-addictive gameplay ( “up sounds “ are cool)
- hidden messages
-An ending !
How to improve ( time not considered ) because you went solo.
-Little animation of floating
-Fish 🐠 swimming
-A smal pause on collision to give impact 0.05 is enough:)
- Some particles
Overall great game !
Wow. I was expecting a basic cute fishing game. What a pleasant surprise!
The double theme interpretation is ingenious. I have to give that a 5. The story was really well executed with each section feeling fluid, and of course a solid climax. In terms of gameplay, I like how you forced the player to pick up the story objects in order to progress the upgrades so that they can't miss the storyline. Also the gameplay itself, simple as it is, was enjoyable and very well paced. A great example of how simplicity makes for a great jam game.
Also, one of the comments said this is your first jam game!? Really really cool, my(and many others') first jam game was nowhere near this level of quality.
This game is brilliant, I like how you need to keep on top of how much weight you're picking up on the line. Great stuff!
WOW! That for sure was a good time! I was not waiting for such deep lore inside a fishing game, the game really keep me entertained. Great job!
I love all the submissions that played around with the theme in new and interesting ways, and I LOVE how you combined the typical nautical approach with a more abstract mental dive!
The rapid ascent after a dive threw me off at first, but I eventually realized it was a really smart choice; I appreciate the overall speed and responsiveness of the game, especially in selling everything after a run. The quick-sell feature, and the instant ascent when you max out your weight, are both really smart inclusions and are much appreciated.
I like how you used the simple, cutesy aesthetic to your advantage — I definitely had a harrowed look on my face when I reached the last depth level. Kind of reminds me of that old free platformer Eversion, in the best way.
Awesome stuff! Thanks for the fun time!
