How does your game fit the theme?
The calm is the grace periods between enemy attacks which is the storm. Players cannot gather resources during the storm, they must do it during the calm.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, started on the day the jam started, no previous work was done for this jam.

Cool idea! I liked the gameplay, took some time to figure out but afterwords it was a fun time!

This game is a true masterpiece! The gameplay is smooth, the visuals are stunning, and the overall experience is so immersive.

The game has an interesting mix of RTS and tower defense elements. It took me a while to figure out how to build, but once I got it, things became clearer. The resource management is solid, though a bit more guidance during the building phase would help. Overall, it's a great concept that could be even more engaging with a clearer tutorial. Well done!

Im not sure if I did something wrong. I got the guys chopping wood but couldn't figure out how to build, and once the strike happens I could no longer move the players even after the storm.

I really like the combination of RTS and tower defence that you created here! Good tower variety, a nice spot to spam my towers and feel like a god.

Are you considering expanding on the concept and adding more features to the game? You could get crazy with villager resource gathering mechanics and make a super fun and stressful game with this idea!

Very well done for 1 week!

Cheers :)

This is a super interesting take on a tower defense! I wish I could still use my villagers during the raid though because the raid takes a while and I want to have something to do while it occurs. If you let the player continue to manage their population while the raids occur, it will be unlike any tower defense I've seen and I could see the idea doing really well. Really cool population management systems, I was really excited to build more but I couldn't reselect my guys after round one. Great job!

The sprites are charming, I feel bad for them when they're petrified with fear. T_T
I love a good tower defense game, spent some time trying to get the villagers to chop trees and managed to build a few structures. Would be nice to have some kind of progress bar to know where we are in the building/defending cycle as I had trouble telling which phase I was in.

heya, I like TDs so your game caught my eye!

Loved:

- I liked the graphics!

- Also loved the combination of building and RTS/unit control to gather resources.

- Loved that there were the calm and storm phase. I think the storm phase could visually be different so it's clearer but more of that in the feedback!

Design feedback:

- Could be just me, but I used left click to place down the buildings at first, but took me too long to realise it was placed during right click. Not sure if there's a reason it shouldn't be left click to build as that sounds like it's more intuitive, as right click is usually to cancel in these RTS games. This confused me a lot initially as I kept spamming left click to plonk down the buildings but nothing happened.

- I think the waves need to give longer time to gather wood. I lost the first two times on the first wave because I couldn't gather a lot of wood. My strategy was to gather all 4 humans to chop each tree at once, as that sounded intuitive, but it seems it's better to split them up. Because of this I could only build one tower, which isn't enough to keep the waves off. Only on the third try was I actually able to gather enough wood to build more than one tower.

- I kept trying to get the people to chop wood during the wave. I didn't know they couldn't do anything while an attack was ongoing, but because the attack begins so far away, I didn't know that the attack wave had already begun as there were no enemies on screen until I panned down.

Possible improvements:

- I think an indicator to show how much time left before the next wave would help. If not it is rather sudden when the lightning starts, and suddenly I cannot do anything. i think it also creates anticipation.

Overall, I loved the concept, and I'm a sucker for TD games so good job!

Seems like an interesting idea. Not sure if the game is bugged but I couldn't seem to get past the first wave?
