How does your game fit the theme?
The game starts out calm as the winds have yet to whip up, then the storm intensifies over time and makes it harder for our little frog to hold onto the tree.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes! Our team of five included four professional software engineers, two amazing artists, one passionate composer, and a partridge in a pear tree (with some overlapping roles of course), but no game devs. Enjoy our first step into the game dev world!

Super Charming game, I think this would be a really good mobile release. Hope to see you guys continue to work on this project I think you have something really special here. Thank you for posting in the thread!

Developer

hey, thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Hello, this is quite good! I can see myself playing this game on mobile with a bit of polish. There's even a leaderboard, which I couldn't see myself in unfortunately (I made about 100K score in day 1).

Cool work! Cheers!

hey, thanks for playing! putting it on mobile should be pretty easy since it's built in Godot and left click is the only control! I will say, the API for the leaderboard is hosted on a free tier so it can be sort of slow to respond. I'm not near my main computer to check the database to see if you're in there, but more than likely if you go load the leaderboard again you'll be there!

I really liked the game design of trying to path up, it reminded me of rock climbing in a way. On piece of feedback is that the click did not feel very responsive sometimes. The first time I played I was not sure of how to progress because sometimes I would click and the frog would move, but other times I would click and nothing happened. If there is a cool down on clicking (so that players cant spam) it would be a good idea to add a visual for that post jam. After I got the hang of it I think I ended up top of the leaderboard. Great job.

Developer

haha, a couple of our team members actually love rock climbing, including myself. the first draft of the idea for this game was the same concept but a human going up a snowstorm-coated mountain. I think this ended up being more fun, and we got some froggy camaraderie out of it! and yes, there are a couple of known bugs, see my reply to the previous comment as well. I've let Joseph know that you beat his score though, and it sounds like that won't hold for long ;) thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed!

Had a little chuckle when I loaded into the game and saw how comedically long my little guy's arms were. Very charming. There was a common issue where I would click yet the frog wouldn't actually move. caused me to die multiple times T~T

I still quite liked the game despite that. Well done.

yeah, we're aware of a few bugs that we didn't have time to fix before the deadline, and that's one of them 😅 fwiw, one of our team members reported that playing in fullscreen mode got rid of the issue for some reason. we're thinking it's a race condition somewhere, but we couldn't pinpoint it. glad you enjoyed though, thanks for playing!

I started to get fast! Nice work. I had fun! I actually liked how I could go very fast. I liked that the interface was relatively simple and intuitive.

Developer

yeah, you can go pretty fast if you want! I will say though, your points per move are capped if you click faster than 3x a second, so more calculated moves result in higher scores ;) thanks for playing!

I don't find the relation to the theme very convincing. other than that a very pleasent exprience.

Developer

the first day is calm, but the storm intensity ramps up on future days. the stronger the storm, the stronger of a hold you need on the tree to survive. but thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed!

Really fun game! Was a bit hard to find out what to do at first (didnt know that I had to step on the mushrooms for safety) but after reading the description again I was hooked by the simple but very fun gameloop!

Developer

glad you enjoyed it! maybe the tutorial screen before playing could be a bit more granular 😅

Nice little climbing game. One time I fell, but the game was still going. Had to return to menu and restart. The storm didn't felt like much of a difference to be honest. Still very nice work!

Developer(+1)

there are definitely a few bugs to work out, we're aware of that one but couldn't figure it out in time for both making the deadline _and_ getting any reasonable amount of sleep in our time zone. glad you enjoyed though, thanks for playing!

I really liked the game, the art was very well made, and sounds were satisfying and so was the climbing. Great Jam Submission!

Developer

glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!

The art and dynamic music were great, giving the game an overall polished feeling. Gameplay was a tad(pole) repetitive and could have benefitted from some more variety. It wasn't super obvious to me what impact the rising storm had, but that might just be me being unobservant!

Considering this was a first attempt I'm excited to see what you go on to make next!

thanks for playing and for the feedback! we wanted to add powerups of some sort, or an upgrade system, but we didn't end up having time 😅
