I love boss fights. It was a good idea. Needs a tutorial and a little bugfixing, but its a great submission. Thanks for submitting your game.
Thank you for the comment! Your right the tutorial needs work I was trying to make the text at the beginning the tutorial but it just felt off, so I think next time I will make the game play the tutorial. Glad you enjoyed the final boss fight and glad you enjoyed my game :)
I really like the animations and art work, I would love to have someway to learn in the game how to move, jump and attack
Thank you for the comment! Yea I tried to make that with the text but I seen a lot of comments saying that the text feels off and so I think that doing actual game play is good. I could do for example have little enemies come towards you at the beginning so you understand the mechanics of the game i.e. jumping, attacking e.t.c. Glad you enjoyed the game :)
Actually a little enemy that needs only 1 attack to die will be a good idea to "teach" how to attack
I love the art style. Maybe I am the first one to beat the 3rd boss?
Because I find the perfect position:
Thank you for the comment! That is actually a good position never seen that before :) . Glad you enjoyed the game :)
Really good artwork, I didn't really get how combat worked however as I defeated the first two bosses really easily and couldnt get the third one to 2/3 of his hp I didnt find any way to dodge their attacks
Thank you for the comment! Yea a lot of people is saying the 3rd boss is way to hard and I see why, the boss hits for way to hard and way to fast most likely I just played the game so much I just assumed it was easy but what I should of done is got some people to test the game before I published it. Thank you for the feedback and I am glad you enjoyed my game :)
The idea behind the game is really cool, and your art is great!! Tho, I had some problems with player controller, you should focus on movement in platform games in my opinion this is very important part of this genre(but don't worry, everybody make mistakes, I had some problems with jumping for example in my game :D), but yeah anyway, I love the idea :D
Thank you for the comment! Looking back I think I should of done a lot more in my player controller script because what I just done is made a simple script and moved on but now I realize that character controller is one of the most important parts of a game. Thank you very much for your feedback and I am happy you enjoyed the game :)
Overall a really good game. i loved the sounds of the character.
If you should continue to work on it, a few skills would be cool :)
Thank you for the comment! More skills would be awesome good idea, like a long ranged skill a short ranged skill.
Glad you enjoyed my game!
Wow you art is so good. But think you spend too much time on it as there is a lot of improvement in the character controls. The down force is too low when jumping, you may increase the gravity. The attack animations are too fast. I could barely see the sword moving. Sounds are nice and match with the art style.
Thanks for the comment! Looking back I think I do need to increase the gravity it is as if you are floating down which is not what I wanted. I also believe you are right about the sword animation I was hoping that the sound effect will do the swinging of the sword justice but now I see I have to let the player see the sword swing for it to feel more satisfying. Thanks for the feedback and I hoped you enjoyed playing my game :)
Cool Game, I love the art style - it reminds me of an old game called Chibi Knight. Anyways, Great Job! :)
Thank you for the comment! Never heard of that game before but just looked at some pics online and yea your right! Glad you enjoyed the game!
first of all let me tell you that i'm a big lover of arena bossfight games so kudos on chosing that genre.
now about this particular game:
encountered this bug after the second boss: https://gyazo.com/cc082499fe8ca5ff9df2a22a3b922839
character felt floaty and attacks didn't had well defined feedback so they didn't felt good. start screen looked stretched in my browser idk if that's browsers fault or not (i use Opera GX). art is very good indeed. it's great that you didn't forget to include music for your first game. good job, had moderate fun with it.
Thank you for the comment! Just to let you know after you defeat the second boss a hole appears behind you and you jump through that hole to defeat the final boss. I seen a lot of people do what you done and assumed that the final boss is past the second boss that is my bad should of made it consistent i.e. 1st boss is the first hole you see then 2nd boss is after the 1st hole then 3rd boss is after the 2nd hole totally my bad. Thanks for playing my game :)
oh i see, so you tried to revert player expectations and make tutorial lie to them. in that case creating big unpassable wall at the place i was getting stuck could be a better indicator of terrain awareness, because since i was getting stuck into thin air i assumed it was a bug and not a part of the design.
i'm going to give it a try again, interested in seeing other enemies.
Yea your right. Making it invisible was not a good idea because people just got confused. Thanks for the feedback :)
So firstly health bar changes orientation with character and player's health bar hides behind enemies. Then you can cancel death animation and even attack when dead. You can some sort of stick to the walls. Options aren't necessary. There is a little field to outplay enemies and it doesn't feel satisfying. Bosses should have some sort of attack cooldowns and move differently. Player's actions are too slow and there should be some fun mechanics e.g. dashing. I enjoyed music during battles and art style. I think you did very well for 1st game, keep it up :D
Thank you very much for your comment! Also thank you very much for showing me all the pitfalls for my game I see some ways now on how I can fix some of the things you said so thank you :) I think looking back and on your comment that the bosses should have more mechanics like jump attack or stages like stage 1 and stage 2 that would of been very interesting game play. Thank you for playing my game and thanks for all the feedback :).
The best part of this game is art.
Controls feel unresponsive and movement feels awkward,
but for the first game you did very well ! keep up good work.
Thank you for the comment! Looking back I think I should have spent more time on the controls I just done the controls and left it but I should of went back and adjusted the speed to make it feel more realistic and more responsive like you said. Glad you enjoyed it :)
I really like the cartoonish art! Suit well!!
Maybe just the swing of the sword should be longer, and some creeps or something before the boss battle to gain more coins and implement better the shop mechanic, and the zoom out also, but that doesnt bother me to much!
Fun to play, and nice art!! Good Job!
Thank you for the comment! I like the idea of adding enemies before the boss so the player can understand how the controls work instead of them just going in head on, that is a good idea. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Cool game! Some more interesting upgrades would have been nice. The idea of jumping into a battle pit fits the theme well!
Thank you very much for the comment. I wanted to add like for 10 coins you can buy a 10% extra upgrade on your damage but I did not have time :( but it would of been nice to have more upgrades you are right.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
the game is funny to play, but the camera movement need a larger focus and the projectiles from the enemies are moving slower than the enemies themselves.
but it still funny and i like it.
Thanks for the comment and feedback! Yea looking back the camera movement needs to be more fluent with the game play. Also looking back the projectiles could use some work to make it more challenging to the player i.e. make it faster so the player has to react quickly.
I dared... I wish the camera was a bit more zoomed out. Feels a bit close.
Thanks for the comment and the feedback! That is a great idea actually having an option to zoom out which could show you what bosses are coming and how to prepare for them.
Pretty fun experience. The art really brings this game up.
I didn't really like the text at the start, it seems a bit out of place and was a bit hard to read. Also, it was a bit annoying to have the healthbar behind enemies when fighting them.
Apart from that, though, the game was great.
Thanks for the comment and the feedback! I wanted to try and make a tutorial part but I kind of rushed it at the end so it does look out of place next time I will try and make the text easier to read for sure!
Very nice game. Great art you used/made. Just the demon is too powerful for me.
Thank you for the comment and the feedback! Yea looking back and seeing the game again I think I should of made the final boss a little easier to kill.
The game has some really cute characters, but I felt there was no real strategy but to spam left click. I liked that there was a shop for upgrades.
Against the bosses my Health bar would always be behind them as well when I was on top of them. Making it hard to see what health I had.
I enjoyed playing the world you created though and your game's art style is really cute.
Thank you for the comment! I think I should of added more mechanics looking back :)
It is still a pretty great game man, you did a good job.
Thanks :)
Really charming design! It is fun watch the characters fight. You definitely got the theme~ Your sprite art graphics are amazing with a cool and expressive style, keep it up. Tip: if you don't want your character to stick to walls, add a 2d material with 0 friction to the rigidbody 2d. Great job submitting a game to the jam! Please check out mine when you have time :)
Thank you very much for the comment :)
Really glad you liked the game :)
Fun and really cute! Really cool art and character designs!
Thank you very much :)
