Ranked from 22 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
The Gameplay. Our game is a simple shooter with unexpected twists. Normally when you say, oh that's a shooter, a bunch of dumb enemies spring up upon you. But not this one, my Enemy AI is similar to what a human might do (Except for obstacle avoidance; I forgot to code that). This makes for some unconventional chaotic fun that might be enjoyable for some (^^ )
My team also built assets centered around the theme of chaos, like the music has high tempo and an enjoyable rhythm, and the palette used is a one that might cause a bit of chaos during game play ;)

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. Our team created all of the assets from scratch.

The game is visually very pleasant. However, I ran into some bugs:

The location is loaded with a long delay

Monsters hit the walls

Bullets fly through the walls

But these are not serious bugs, in general I really liked the game.

P.S. I'm not comfortable asking this, but could you please rate my game, we need 2 ratings

Developer

Hey thanks for playing the game and your comment, I played your game and rated it :)
Also the loading time is actually meant for the proper path plotting. I could've added a loading screen for it tho :) but I realised that a bit late.

Fun and chaotic gameplay. Enjoyed playing it. Enemies felt a bit over powered, killing them was more grinding then challenging, apart from that it was a fun experience. Best of luck

I love the soundtrack, and art, but gameplay could be better other than that fantastic game

Thanks for playing and your comment :)
will improve gameplay after the Jam

You guys made a procedurally generated game?! Damn! Great music and art. Love the game feel. Nice shooter game.

But I'm not very used to the control by only move 4 directions(expected 8). The monsters are so difficult to kill. Got stuck with a bunch of them because I walked to a dead end.

Overall well done!

Thanks for playing and your comment :)

I am planning to add 8d movement after the jam and reducing enemy health a bit. (Just a more polished version of the current game)
:)

Hey!  Nice shooter, played and rated.  Controls remind me a bit of Smash TV.  I was thinking maybe to have the legs and top of the body as separate objects, so the legs face the direction you're travelling and the torso facing where you shoot.  Well done for completing the jam!

Thanks for Playing :)

That is an Incredible idea which I didn't think of. Thanks for your comment, it will help me solve that issue I had :)

I'm not sure I was able to follow what the arrow was trying to convey, I wasn't ever able to find the exit or key, or whatever the objective is.  The enemies being very bullet spongey was a bit of an annoyance as well.  Overall though the game was well done, good job!

Developer

Thanks for Playing :)

The arrow tells you the key's position wrt the MC. Initially I was gonna make it point to the next room but due to lack of time I decided to make a quick fix addition to give the players some Idea of where the key might be. But I assure you, there is a key :)

Submitted(+1)

I'll have to try it again lol, I guess I just got lost is all

Developer

I just realized how complicated my game has become, the arrow points in the direction of the key but the paths are different(Due to the procgen) so its gonna take a shit ton of attempts to find the room with the key. Since I wrote the algorithm for the ProcGen I kinda know how the map might be set up and this led me to find the key everytime I play, I am kind of a God in my own game haha. Hope you get Lucky ;)

Secret code:- Crabs are natural winners at my Game. 0w0. hope this helps a bit

I didn't quite understand the proposal.

But I found the behavior of enemies very interesting.

I enjoyed playing.

Developer

Thanks for playing :)

In generic shooters, the enemies will swarm you even if they are low on health, which reduces the chance of their survival. I thought that instead of them being suicidal, we could give them smarter brains.

Initially when the player finds out that the enemies are actually not brain-dead zombies with a simple code, they panic, and that quickly turns into a chaotic situation.

Tbh when I first played the game, I was surprised that the enemies had learnt to swarm the player from all directions.

Cool mechanics! Really good job :)

Developer

Thanks for your comment and for playing :)

Nice mechanics and setup. I like what you have going. I will say enemies soaked a lot of shots. Also diagonal movement would be a nice addition. Solid all around though. I think with some tuning this will be pretty good.

Developer

Thanks for playing and your kind words :)

I am planning to change some stuff in the game after the jam :)

Really nice music on background!

Quite difficult to play as the enemies easily trap you. Also both enemies and the player don't do a lot of damage. It might be more fun if they both died quicker.

Developer

Haha, my enemy ai works as a hivemind to hunt the player down. Also the game expects you to be on your toes and in a chaotic state hence the additional difficulty to provoke you to do your best. But I think that I will reduce a bit of the player and the enemy health after the jam.

Thanks for playing :)

The atmospheric music was great! I loved the sprites you made as well. The controls felt a bit clunky, but that added a level of difficulty that made the game unique. Also - I love the way that the character keeps flipping when he's walking one way and shooting another way. It cracks me up.

Also I think it's pretty cool to have done this with your brother! I did my first game jam with mine. I did my game in a team too, and we got some sweet music as well. Take a look :)

Developer (1 edit)

So you noticed that..... The player was initially supposed to stay 1 sec in the pose before returning back, but I tried reducing the time and it made for a really fun flipping thing and decided to keep it as a "hidden in plain sight" kind of feature. Congrats on finding that :)

Also we're actually an "over the internet team" of three members. Awesome people too.

Thanks for playing :)

I'll check your game out :)

You made you game godot

me too

you can actually change volume slider texture

and also add 8-directions movement

Developer (1 edit)

I ran out of time and forgot about the Vol. Slider Texture. I made it but forgot to put it in :(

Thanks for Playing tho :)

Play our game also **Parasite Mines**

Developer

Will do, bossman!

Really cool music !
i wish you could move in 8 directions instead of 4

Developer (3 edits)

Ah I did that but it kinda backfired as the animation nodes kept messing up. Tbh I think that the 4 direction movement thing adds to the chaos because it reduces the players options in a tough spot.

Also the music was composed by James, really awesome dude, check him out if you have the time.

Thanks for Playing :)

Ps-We are brothers- The Dark Night and The Dark Batman, sounds close enough ;)
