How does you game fit the theme?
You play as a silhouette and every time you close your eyes 'Blink' the world stops existing - it isn't real. You can pass through walls, floors, and every type of obstacle. Time your blinks just right to successfully complete each level!
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code and made all the artwork myself from scratch during the jam.
Most of the sound effects were created by @https://itch.io/profile/thedoun during the jam.
The music was created by youtuber Pix.

Congrats mate! :)
Wow cool! Great gamedesign ideas, I love all the work around the blinking!
A game that can be even more developed in the future in my opinion, with more assets to be even more challenging.
Once again you did great job!
Woah! A 2D game in Unreal! That's super impressive! Seriously awesome work with this game! The art style is clean and simple, and the movement feels really responsive and fluid! The fact that you made this in Unreal seriously blows my mind! The blinking mechanic takes a little time to get used to, but it's implemented really well! Some of the timings are really tight, and I had to let my sibling take over for me since I'm not very good at these types of games, but overall this was fantastic! Definitely a solid jam entry! Amazing work!
liked it a lot! audio, graphics, main mechanic of the game, all were made very nicely and clean, just the movement felt a little too slippery but overall great game! gave you 5 stars each :)
Honestly this is the best game i've played in this jam so far. The UI is clear and pretty, the music is really cool, the graphics are clean and fitting, and the concept is both creative and well executed.
I guess you didn't really have time for that, but a way to select levels would have been nice, especially since escape sends the player back at the main menu without a warning. Also, people are complaining about difficulty for the last levels, but i would argue the levels are fine, it's the margin of error which is too slim : it doesn't feel right to die because the very tip of my hat touched the wall, sometimes by just a pixel.
The timer is a good idea, it's always cool to promote speedrunning, and the audio settings are always nice too in a jam game. I think you could turn this into a full game if you find a couple of interesting mechanics to mix with what you already have, maybe some side-scrolling levels, or at least bigger ones, could be a good idea for exemple.
I enjoyed the tension each time i blinked, and redoing the early levels in one go after getting used to the game was really satisfying (that's where the side-scrolling levels idea comes from). Congrats!
I love the idea behind this game. It fits the theme perfectly. Soundtrack is relaxing. Art Style is simple yet elegant. My only complain is that it's way too difficult. I really wanted to beat all the levels but It's nearly impossible. Maybe, instead of making the screen pitch black you could make it really dark, but leave some clearance so the player can see a bit what's going on. This game is one of the best i played. I think you have a good chance of winning this game jam. Best of luck!
If you have a minute please check my game too :)
solid game. btw if you don't mind can you rate back my game thanks
"When you can't see, the world doesn't exist...", I loved it so much. I think one of the best mechanics I saw for a platformer game. a mix of challenging and engrossing. it's sad actually that you only have 20 ratings... the only thing is the last level took me a little too long to complete, maybe because I'm not so good at platform games :D but maybe you can add difficulty levels (easy mode could have a longer fade duration before darkness or longer levels have 1 or 2 checkpoints). I mean if you wanted to add more levels later (I hope you do).
Thanks im glad you enjoyed it. I like the idea of changing how long it takes to fade based on difficulty that would be really cool, and yeah im not too bothered about the ratings i had a good time making it : )
That was fantastic!
I love the core mechanic and the visuals are amazing! It was challenging and fun, I love it. If you want to develop this into a full game it will be amazing, I think has a lot of potential. If you have some social, maybe you devlog or something I would love to follow you!
Thanks, nah i dont make devlogs although maybe I will in the future im not sure. Im glad you liked the game though!
No problem man, it is one of my favorite games on this game jam to be honest. Great work again!
Also, I would love to have you playing my game if you want. It would be awesome!
yeah of course ill check it out now : )
Wow! This is about as perfect as it gets. I really enjoyed everything about this game. It is by far the most innovative in terms of mechanics I have played yet.
Great job!
Wow, thanks thats really cool to hear : )
RATED!, really slick minimalist game!, I loved it, a really great entry in terms of platforming games!, great effort!, good job! XD
also, would you kindly help rate mine too? I'd really appreciate if you do, Thanks!

Thanks, yeah ive actually already played and rated yours, i watched the devlog before submission closed. Good job with all of it!
Thank you so much!, cheers to you! :D
Really cool game. The blinking mechanics is a pretty interesting take on the theme, and I definitely like it. The music and graphics are both pretty cool and add to the ambiance. Although it can be a tad difficult to time the blinking, you could add a "hint" for when it's the time to stop blinking. Also, I think blinking should be instant and not a fade to black.
gud game
That's frustrating, you deserve so much more ratings, I hope you'll get to 20 because your game is just amazing.
Thanks i appreciate that, yeah im not really sure how to get more people to try it : /
I think there is a lot to say about this game. Already the visual style and the main mechanics are just excellent. It feels like we're dealing with something other than an amateur game. The gameplay is well thought out, the game design is felt. The progressive difficulty curve is very well done. The yellow levels start to be quite difficult. One of my favorite games. The only difficulty is related to the fact of knowing the gravity of the character by heart to be able to blink
Thats really nice to hear, thanks! : )
This was so much fun! Honestly no idea how long I just played. could have been 10 minutes, could have been 30. It was a really immersive experience!
Great use of the theme, the visuals seem really polished and are just a perfect fit for this game idea!
Very well done!
Oh my what a fun and creative game! That's so cool! very unique mechanic with having to blink to pass through walls. Not being able to see adds a lot of depth to the gameplay. I had a lot of fun playing this!
I really love your game! The Mechanic of blinking through the wall was a great idea and I enjoyed trying to find out the correct timing of when to blink back into existence! You've really done a great job realising this!
All 5 stars ! Great game !
Thanks i appreciate that
Hello! I already tried your game! It's quite a challenge haha but I loved it, it's quite original and I already gave you a good rating too!
I invite you to try and rate mine, here is the link: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-7/rate/1420225
These days I upload a video playing it on my new channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxqT-F0T2EaIkTjy8WQmvHQ
Super cool concept and execution. I think the sound design was on point here, and combined with the background torches and chains, I could tell that you really cared about creating a vibe. And you did just that.
I appreciate the raw action-platforming without major puzzle elements. You focused on one genre and did it well.
As a suggestion, I felt that the timing windows were too unforgiving. I think that if the player blinks into a wall, they should be nudged to an open space if they're within reasonably close distance.
Also, I liked the ending cutscene. Those often get cut in game jams, but that extra work made the end of the game more satisfying.
Thanks for playing, I actually really appreciate the feedback cheers : )
