How does you game fit the theme?
The player goes in with a false mindset of helping a friend with their game but they end up going on a journey that may not have happened.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
We wrote all the code ourselves but used some tutorials found online. As for assets we created most of them but used premade assets for some of the work. Anything we used is credited in the credits as well as on the itch.io page.

Hi, very unique game of the jam, the puzzles are very interesting and enjoyable. The artsyle is well achieved. Congrats on your submission!

Developer

Thank you

I really enjoyed the puzzles! Cool game!

Developer

thank you

This is one the more unique games I've seen in the jam so far, and I really liked it!  I got some "There is No Game" vibes from it with the whole interactable desktop UI.  I was not quite able to figure out what the code was for the game, but I had a lot of fun figuring out the other puzzles.

Developer

The piece of paper should give you a clue on where to look, and some emails will help you cipher the code, just make sure when you enter text its all caps, lmk if this helps, thanks for trying

Submitted(+1)

I did try using the cipher but I did not do all caps, so I'll have to go back and try that for sure

Developer

Thanks for trying again, if there's anything else lmk, thanks

Submitted(+1)

Really innovative and fun! That old desktop and old game vibes gave me some nostalgic feelings. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any of the gravestones code to work, so I couldn't proceed any further into the game after I entered the woods!

Developer

Well there's a code on a piece of paper, you have decipher, but make sure all the text is in caps, thanks for trying at least, lmk if this helps

Submitted(+1)

Ops, I didn't use caps. I will try it again, thanks for the tip!

Developer

yeah sorry, should've said it somewhere in the game, now I know

Hi, it seems like it have a nice concept but I think I stuck after reading those 3 mails, can you give ma a hint what to do after that? I couldn't press anything actually after checking the mailbox

Developer (2 edits)

hey, yeah the hints are scattered through out the mail box and chat messages, might have to write down the written puzzle on the paper, and to close a menu window it should be the red box on the top left, lmk if this helps, should be able to double click things and might have to have everything all caps to enter

Awesome concept and implementation. I really liked it. But I also think that instead of text entry another method (at least for the code part) would make the game more fluid. Very well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing and your input, very appreciated

woww this game was great! I don't really know what to say really, I think it's just perfect! the puzzles are rly interesting.  I really like the visual as well and love the main menu design. I like that it says 'don't playtest' instead of quit XD

Sometimes when I close and reopens the in-game game my cursor was still visible, and I had to click multiple times to be able to walk again, but this is just me being really nitpicky.

But other than that, I love the game and had real fun playing it. There's no audio in the woods level, but it's not necessarily a bad thing imo, I think it's making it more creepy and eerie even. And the lack of audio does make sense, since it was just a playtest lol. I think this was a really great game. Really really great job making it! look forward to your future games ^^b

Thank you so much means a lot, especially since I work on cars all day this is a good sign I'm doing something right

Good concept, i love it :D, but very hard for me though XD but great job!

Developer

thanks, wasn't sure how difficult to make it, but good to know

Submitted(+1)

This was such a cool and unique concept! I really loved the clever puzzles and overall concept- the ending surprised me (in a good way, thanks Beth). I enjoyed it- thank you!

Interesting idea, very meta! LOVED the old Windows 95 look of the desktop. And the puzzles were clever--things like the password reset email in the junk folder, and editing the game code to change what the game does. That said, free text entry puzzles can be really difficult and frustrating.

Developer

Thanks for the play through, will totally consider that next time, means a lot

Had fun playing this! Learned a lot ;). Very creative game with a interesting idea and the puzzles were cool!

Nice little game and interesting idea. A cool submission.

I need to study coding like Beth. She writes some beautiful lines of code :)

Developer (1 edit)

maybe try the new game engine :P thank you

Very interesting concept, I love it!

I just rated your game, maybe you can do the same on mine ^_^

Interesting concept for the jam! I enjoyed playing through it and thought it was clever how to go about solving some of the puzzles.

I knew there was a reason the woods unnerved me, found out after "exporting the game" :P

Developer(+1)

Thanks, means a lot more then you know.
