interesting and challenging concept. Might just have to play around with the position of the delete trigger. Also buttons sometimes do not react or its just me, but still a lot of fun

How does you game fit the theme?
I know it's the opposite but I'm just keeping it real.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. All code and assets were written and made during this jam.

Hi, happy to be your 20th rater! :) So... I noticed that others already mentioned how confusing the game is in the beginning. A tutorial would be a nice addition, or just adding the instruction notes in the main menu, this could really improve the understandability, because right now, you can only see the gameplay notes (and the actual UI like buttons, laser position indicators, etc.) while you are playing, but before you know how to play, a turn only takes a few seconds before you lose it, so I had to hit replay several times and lose just to read the instructions.
I liked it audio, it was simple but fit the graphics and the gameplay perfectly.
Keyboard shortcuts to the fields would be a nice addition, but it would also affect the difficulty of the game, making it easier so that's really a design choice you have to make.
Do you plan to work on this after the jam?
Thanks, Peter! The goal now is to reach the precious 69th mark :D I only got few people to playtest the game literally hours before the submission ends, so I didn't have the chance to add it, yes a tutorial/how to play page would have been helpful. I'm glad people still find it fun and playable.
Yes, definitely working on in polishing and correcting some things but not this actual game submission I just like to preserve my jam entries, Instead ill be making another build using it, who knows maybe we are getting REALiTEAM v2 soon.
I felt like it was impossible before I figured out what I was supposed to do, but then too easy after. I think the game's balance could use some work. Other than that, I think the concept is innovative enough.
Also, the UI was awkwardly squashed because the resolution of my monitor isn't the highest. That may have slipped by testing.
First Impression:
-I was sooo confused. Its probably me tho.
-I love the idea. It feels fresh to see things other than platformers.
Suggestions:
-I know there wasn't enough time maybe but a tutorial would be awesome for people like me.
-I don't know if it exists but maybe keyboard shortcuts?
Overall, thank you for your work. It was a nice experience.
The game was a bit confusing at the beginning, I should have explained the mechanics a lot clearer or added a 'how to play' screen. No other keys, for now you can only play it by clicking at the buttons but yeah I agree on having keyboard/hot keys controls I think that would be a great addition to the game and it will make it less stressful to play :D Thanks for playing!

cool concept, great effort, Rated!
u can check out my game if u like: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-7/rate/1418965
solid game. btw if you don't mind can you rate back my game thanks
This was a difficult but innovative concept. I really like seeing work like this in the jam.
I can manage two monitors at once. Maybe.
Maybe if controls were on the keyboard I'd have an easier time? The buttons also confused me at first but then I realized what they were.
This didn't affect your rating as far as I'm concerned. This game was brilliant!
Great, fun game!
Thank you. The game was a bit confusing and challenging to some and the button thing was one of the main concern. Actually I haven't thought about this but yes having keyboard controls/hot keys would have been a great addition to the game. I'm glad people still find it fun and the amount of support I'm getting It's really warms my heart.
I liked the game! It was a bit challenging to me at first (probably due to me having tunneled vision or something) but I really liked the concept. The audio is a teensy tiny bit repetitive with the BGM in my opinion.
The concept was really nice and i really liked it keep it up! also btw can you rate my game: https://goreeeo.itch.io/awake
Once I understood what was going on I really liked the concept! I like having to manage all the monitors the best you can, but it felt impossible to keep 4 monitors because I couldnt hit all the buttons because I was looking at the letters. Maybe have it so you have to click the letters instead to get rid of them, that way it is a bigger hitbox and you can focus your eyes on them. That or make the letters go a bit slower when you have 4 monitors, then faster with less monitors.
Thanks for playing Nova, I'm glad u liked it. Yes that's the main mechanic u keep an eye on the 4 monitors and try to get rid all the 'COPY' letters by hitting the red buttons at the right time. Spawn speeds increases for every monitor/copy u lost. Maybe the start speed was bit faster than it should be or we can also keep the buttons closer together instead of having them spread out for easy navigation. Thanks for the comments! It was a fun jam and I learned a lot.
I was going to say that I enjoyed the music + sound effects. I read that you made it yourself, nice! I'd go for the loop option also since you had other things to worry about in this game jam xD Like everyone else, I was clicking on the notes instead of the red button but I think that's because they didn't look like buttons to me at first until I started clicking around like crazy!
It took me a bit to figure out why I was getting what I was getting wrong. I only figured it out because I decided to not click on any buttons and got +10 points on letters that weren't from the word "copy." It's challenging in a good way because not only do I have to time the red buttons to zap away the letters, but I also had to spell "copy" over + over in my head to see which words I had to zap xD nice game!
Thanks for the kind words. Just like all of us here we joined this jam to learn and have fun, and no better way to learn and expand your knowledge than trying to do it all by yourself :D
The game is a bit confusing in the beginning and I feel like I should have explained/show the mechanics more clearer. The game could be better but I'm glad you liked it. Thanks!
Cool game, it was somehow pretty fun having to keep track of all the letters. Okay so you wanted me to list off some stuff that I think can be improved:
The music was just a bit too repetitive and kinda annoying to listen to. It was a bit unclear at first that you had to press the buttons, not the notes because the buttons didn't really look like buttons. And you should probably not include the tutorial inside the scene you are playing in, didn't have time to read them, had to read them on the itch page. Can't really think of much else that needs to be improved honestly. Great job with the game!
A bit hard for me to understand at first, but overall a cool concept and liked the game! Great job
it's really hard to understand how to play the game lol
even you'd put some notes around the game, it's end before i read and understand em all.
i strongly recommend you putting the notes on the itch page
Couldn’t understand the game fast enough for it to really hold my interest.
At the main menu I was trying to click the notes, instead of the buttons above the notes. I did not realize those were buttons at first :P
I think this game could have been improved a lot by:
- Having some more playtesting done by other people
- Some better music. The piano loop gets tiring on the ears after a few loops.
Good luck!
Thanks for playing my game!
Yes, it's actually hard to understand some of the mechanics in the beginning and I only got few people to try and playtest the game and yes the 'button' thing was one of the concerns :D For the background music that's actually the first time that I made my own so I decided to go for a short loop and it's kinda repetitive I definitely got a lot of things to learn on this one.
It was a fun jam! Thanks
