How does you game fit the theme?
We interpreted “You are not alone” in several ways. John is not alone in his grandpa’s haunted mansion, and Rosemary the ghost has a crisis over being left alone, but with reassurance from John, and the appearance of his Grandpa’s ghost to join her in the afterlife, Rosemary is not alone anymore.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
The code, art, and music was made from scratch. The sound effects were free assets.

I first thought that I was locked because I was trying to click to pass the dialogue but I figured it out eventually.

I love the art, there is a true artistic direction and it is not an easy subject. The boss "fight" was really nice, I really enjoyed the arms and throwing-objects-stuff, less the bullet hell which less with your direction/ subject.

The dialogue were cool, very realistic with a bit of humor.

Great job !

I looove a game with good story-telling & this game definitely hits the mark on that. When I started playing, I immediately became immersed in the game & I felt like I was there. The little touches in this game really make it a great game, like the piano noises when you interact with it, the change of expressions of the characters in dialogue, the snow in the attic? During the battles, the lighting of the ghost extending to the hand attacks did not go unnoticed - a really lovely addition. Definitely made me think of Undertale (which is probably one of my favourite games ever)! A very well-rounded game I can see myself enjoying again & again - I would love to see more games from the team who made this.

The writing is seriously so good - "maybe there's a traffic jam in purgatory or something" SO GOOD, very funny!! 10/10!!!

What I liked the most: The characters!!! They felt so fleshed-out & REAL to me (even a ghost)! The dialogue they had brought them to life & the expressions were perfect. Also special mention to having a hard mode unlocked after the first play through!

What could be improved on: With the dialogue, it would have been nice to have a little "next" or "press enter" bit of text show up at the end of each sequence so you knew when to get the next lines. Also a little "z" icon included for interactable items would be helpful to know what can & can't be interacted with on approach.

TLDR; Fight a ghost & play the piano! Traffic is holding up your grandpa so entertain his friend until he gets here! Unlock hard-mode & enjoy this lovely game all over again.

Thank you for the kind words! We really enjoyed our time fleshing out bits of polish and dialogue - it means a lot to share that you noticed and enjoyed all those pieces.

We're really excited to make something else together and have already started brainstorming.

(I was going for dust particles in the attic lol. But I guess I had a little bit too much downward motion! )

Really enjoyable gameplay, incredible art. I loved the twist, I was expecting a lot more horror and less bullet hell lol

What a beautiful game you have here. The art is amazing, the boss fight is amazing, the possibility to interact with all those objects is amazing. Great work!

It was a game full of surprises, such as an action game that looked like a horror game, and a piano that looked like a mere ornament but moved based on physics calculations! The storyline and UI presentation are also fantastic! A well-crafted game!

I am notoriously bad at bullet hells, but this game was pretty fun and insanely well done for a 7 day jam. Nice work. Your interpretation of the theme was very beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed this.

I love the art style and the story. Great bullet hell game. I thought the normal game was hard enough, but it was great that you added hard mode for more skilled players!

Superb! Really emotional subject matter, turned into a great game- graphics and sound design top notch, very very well done. I really liked the animations for the characters speaking to each other.

A great looking game, and the fact that all those assets were made in a week blows me away. Definitely not the gameplay I was expecting from the start, but it was quite fun and well designed.

beautifully put together! The crisp pixel art is a real treat.

I totally agree with all the praise in the other comments!

Just one quick tip for working with pixel art in Unity:

If you add a component called "Pixel Perfect Camera" to your camera and set it to "upscale render texture", you can get rid of those weird-looking rotated pixels that you get when you rotate a sprite by an angle that ist not a multiple of 90 degrees. :)

nice performance, simple and effective, the atmosphere is also very well realized

The game looks spectacular, the art is amazing and the bloom effects are awesome. The music is good as well. The gameplay is cool, but it's really hard to dodge attacks. This isn't a big deal because you're given a lot of healing items though. The dialogue is cool, though I'm not sure I'm okay with a mentally unstable ghost inhabiting my grandfather's house. I know who I'm gonna call...

So beautiful and immersive

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The art, the music, the gameplay, just challenging enough to be fun but still able to scrape my way through the last encounter on my second try, absolutely beautiful story about loss and coming to terms with grief, the attention to detail was amazing and I absolutely adore that I can interact with nearly every object and get unique dialogue, ordinarily this where I give pros and cons so here goes:

pros: everything

cons: nothing

I cannot find a single thing about this game to even nitpick, absolutely phenomenal entry.

this game is AMAZING, i didnt wanna stop playing (even after I kept dying on the final level), giving very undertale vibes, in music, gameplay, and audio, which I loved.

Really nice game, nicely polish, and i love the humor you added to the story.
The boss fight is really well done. Top-notch!

I love the way you guys interpreted this theme! Every part of this game is great - the mechanics, storyline, art style, sound design, and music.

Also, the way every one of Rosemary's attacks from the first two rooms are used in the final battle, is really cool. I might steal that the next time I create a boss fight - as well as the arms reaching across the room, haha.
