Game's pretty cool, but the art is outstanding. Really well done!
Browser version doesnt work. I downloaded it but gameoad controls are buggy, so didnt use gamepad. If I am not wrong towers generally miss the spot. Graphics nice, bg music is godd, some sfx like shoot and placed tower sfx would be nice.
Hi, for some reason the browser version sometimes requires you to refresh the page in order to be able to place towers. Bit of a weird one. The controls are a bit messed up of the stand alone version. Sorry about that. SFX are a good call. Especially for the picking up an placement of towers for sure. Thanks for the feedback!
Give my compliments to the chef... ehrm, I mean artwork designer. And while you're at it, you might as well pass one to the person that made the music too, because I'm sitting here at 3 am playing the game and it's a vibe.
I'm only one player and I didn't use the gamepad at all, so I can't speak on that aspect of the game. It worked fine just playing it as a regular tower defence game, though. It did mean that the connection to the theme got a bit slimmer, but that's more on me for not having a roommate, I suppose. .-.
There was a nice variety of towers that you could place, and I found most of them to be pretty useful. I couldn't figure out what the bloodheal did, though. I assumed it was supposed to heal the main tower, but it never did. The railgun saved my a$$ on multiple occasions.
Beautiful work! :)
I don't have a gamepad, so I couldn't play it, but that doesn't stop me to appreciate the art style, game looks super pretty!
Ayy I finally beat it! I love, love, love the vibe and the art of this game. As an artist, I kinda lean more heavily toward aesthetics, and I gotta say this was my favorite in terms of overall visuals. The game itself was really fun and gave me a lot of nostalgia for back when I used to play the heck outa various tower defenses. Kudos!
Cool! We also thought the artwork was awesome! lol Ludo really smashed this jam and was responsible for making 90% of the artwork including all the towers, menus and UI design. I also loved tower defence games as a kid and this really caught my attention as a developer. I loved getting to spend time play testing and have got some pretty solid strats now. What was you favourite tower? We have all gravitated towards the rail gun but I do love the flame tower. That thing rocks! Thanks for playing and giving us such glowing feedback. We really appreciate it!
RAIL.GUN. This has saved my run a couple times xD
Great game. I love the art direction and the tower defense game was fun! My only gripe was that the controller (XBox360) registered the up button as move the 2nd player down and down as up.
Thanks for playing! Sorry about the inverted controls. We think we have that nailed down now for the update. Sucked we couldn't sort it in time for the web build. Bit of an odd issue it turns out. Thank you for playing and letting us know what type of controller you were using. It is super helpful to get feedback with details like that so thanks! Hope you have had a good jam. Can't wait to check out your submission.
the menus are really high quality damn
unfortunately the gameplay doesnt hold up to that same level, the movement being inverted (up moves down, left moves right, etc.), and the character moving without any input, ouch
Yes sir, those menus blew us all away. Ludo has secured a job in menu design for all up coming jams! lol
As for the inverted controls... yep! That is a issue. Really odd bug as it was fine in editor. We think we have found the issue and will update the game as soon as the jam ends. It would be great if you wanted to play it again then. Thanks for trying it out and taking the time to give us some feedback. It really helps us improve.
The graphics (especially the main menu) looks amazing! I did encounter some bugs that made the game unplayable but after I restarted it worked fine and was a great experience. And I bet it would be even more fu if I had a friend to play with 😅.
I agree with you about the menu. Ludo absolutely smashed it! I really loved the animation on the cards. Very cool. Thanks for restarting and giving it another go. We are working on fixing that bug. Maybe it would be cool to make an AI for the second player for when you are playing solo. What do you think
Yeah, making an AI would totally be a good idea! Considering that the two players have completely different roles and mechanics, a solo player would miss out on a bunch of them when playing alone. You could make an AI for both player 1 and 2, and the player would choose what role they want to play.
I like the coop idea for a TD game.
Here's mine: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-8/rate/1675396
Thank buddy, if only the controls would have played ball for the second player. It is really good fun playing together. The controls aren't inverted in editor so we are having a little trouble sorting them for the builds. I think Jack has found the problem so fingers crossed for the next updated! Thanks for playing.
Couldnt get the towers to drop and i didnt know where they could go, somehow i got one of the bottom ones on the field i dont know how i didnt click on it. I like the art and music.
Ah I had this issue yesterday. I have no idea why but sometimes it bugs out on load and you can't place the towers. A reset should help but that is even more confusing! We will try and dig down into the code base and figure out how to address this issue. Thanks for giving it a go and letting us know what went wrong.
This is a cool game ! I loved the menu design and the interface ! I was lost at first but it didn't take me long to catch up.
Thanks for playing! Glad you managed to work it out in the end. Was the tutorial not clear enough? it would be cool to know for next time so we can do better.
A cool concept with great art style! One problem that I had is that he gamepad player's damage is unnoticeable. But overall, good job!
We definitely need to rework the gamepad player quite a bit, thanks for playing though and thanks for the feedback!!!
looks great and a little confused to play, game art are nice and the flip card effect feels so cool;
Thanks for playing!!!
the moment I see the part main menu I instantly knew the game going to be awesome! congrats man!
Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!!!
Art is looking great:) Little hard to understand how to play, from where i got money and what guns doing before buy them.
sounds like we could use a clearer tutorial. Thanks for the feedback, it's really useful. Hope you had fun anyway.
Looks and sounds great! Unfortunately don't have a friend to play it properly right now. Really love the menu design and animation.
Thanks for checking it out. You can still beat the game solo. Its just more of a challenge! 😁
game looks great but sadly my gamepad just broke yesterday ;-; it sounds great too!
I did a lot of the testing just one player so I'd still recommend giving it a good go. It is definitely winnable one play, (Hint: railgun)
I played with my friend. The controls were pretty janky, but we still enjoyed the game. It was actually pretty fun to mess with my friend by moving their cursor while they were trying to place towers. It is not well balanced though, the EmberRing was the only useful tower and it didn't feel like player 2 did any damage to the enemies. But the art is really good and I love the main menu design, well done!
You have Ludo to thank for all that. He was a beast this jam.
I really like the art.
Unfortunately I neither had someone to play with nor a gamepad so I think designing specifically for something like this is a bit of a limitation. However, I still played the tower defense mechanics as a single player.
The enemies move so quickly for most of the towers to do any damage, at least until the enemies stop by the end to deal damage,
All in all, I think the game needs some minor tweaking and it could be fun. Maybe I missed the idea bc of not having a player 2. but a good job nevertheless!
Hey, thanks for playing and for the feedback!!
We've got some plans to update the tower targeting a bit we didn't manage to complete in time for the jam. Hopefully that will help the issue with not actually hitting the enemies LOL!!
