When you die you respawn on a leaf from your stem, meaning every sprout is a potential second chance
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Most of the code was from scratch, but some parts like the leaderboard were re-used, while most of the assets were premade

Incredibly cool game! I absolutely love the concept and execution. It looks amazing and the way you implemented the theme was great. Sometimes it felt a little too punishing if you went into a dead end and it respawned you in a spot you couldn't get out of but other than that it was super fun and well polished. Great work!
Wow, really amazing game! Loved the artstyle, the musics and the gameplay was really fun! The controls were made really well so that it was hard but controllable. Also the theme is implemented really well. I really cant find anything bad about this, the UI was also really good and well made, and the leaderboard was the cherry on the top. Awesome stuff, keep it up! :D
Really fitting graphics and also a really good difficulty level.
Now and then you spawn really stupid that there is no way out, but that is probably part of the nature of the game =D
Definitely part of the nature and not because I didn't have enough time to add a power-up that lets you munch through the vines...

Glad you liked it! You don't need to make a screenshot if you make it on the leaderboard tho :P
Oh and the enemy "happy face" is actually one of the few sprites I modified from the original art ^^'

Awesome game. I love it. I played it like for an hour and it was worth it. (check out my game too).
This is a game jam gem of a game. On theme, beautifully executed and challenging. The vining felt organic (especially the branching to form a new vine). The turning was quite sensitive which is needed as times and at other times works against you if you're not careful. The location for branching a new vine wasn't very clear...sometimes is sent you really far back. Perhaps it sent you 50% of the way back from where that branch started?

Thanks a lot! The spawn is indeed 50% of your last stem, as well as half of the speed you were going before to make it somewhat fair :P

This game goes perfectly with the theme is my first comment! Great game, I had a lot of fun playing this. I do agree with what others have said about the respawn system being too punishing, RNG dictates if you will have a good second run depending on the path you've taken before and how many times you've died. In contrast to that, it definitely adds a layer of depth and strategy when you do die to make a recovery. Thanks for the submission it was fun!
Thanks for the feedback! I definitely though about other ways to do the spawn position... I did consider being able to decide the side yourself, but I think that would have made it too easy... Guess there would need to be more experimentation with it
I had a lot of fun playing this! The gamplay is very addicting. My feedback is that I think the respawn mechanic could be less punishing. For most runs I reached the furthest before dying and then couldnt get back to where I was after the respawn bc it was hard to avoid my own path
Thanks, Im glad! It's true that it can be very harsh, in the future I would maybe leave more space in the level or make you spawn a bit higher on the stem... But for now I hope it was even more rewarding when you did make it past yourself :P
Fantastic. I really loved this game. The controls were a touch slippery when it got going fast, but 270m, not bad lol. Had a lot of fun with this one!

I gave everything in this game 5 stars! The gameplay is tons of fun, the leaderboard makes it competitive and your interpretation of the theme is really interesting, and the art style and sound effects all fit together really well!

No its not snake. Definitely I can recall snake. Its a game features a plant growing in a weird curve, where the only control you can use is to invert its growth direction. You need to keep the balance for it to grow higher, and there are some items like flowers or something I guess.
I really cannot find the game … I miss it ;-;
But your game gives me a vibe of that. I liked it!
I liked the exploring part of the game.
