"Good game bro." - PLEASE JUST STOP.

I'm seeing people literally spamming the same short non-committal comments across loads and loads of game - literally a copy and paste - even on games that has been submitted with deleted files/not-working builds.

So did you actually even play any of these games?

It's lazy and totally against the spirit of game jams. It's not about "getting the most ratings" it's about giving and getting feedback that actually helps people improve right?

The worse part... people doing this are getting a ton of reviews when there's games out there that deserve way more.

Sorry, needed to rant. Anyone else notice/annoyed by this?

Queue influx of "Good game bro." comments on my own game now lol

Yes, same. At the beginning I was nervous, so for me this positivity was relaxing, but with time I just became annoyed by this. Man, I just want honest opinion so I could become better, please say me some shit in the game! It would be best if you tell me some mistakes that I even didnt noticed!

About games that deserve more true - there is one game(not ours because its a little bit overrated) https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-9/rate/1932825
Or also underrated https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-9/rate/1933664
I think these game deserve better

About your game - its really good bro, when I was writting reply I just couldnt figure out something bad

Aw thanks man, appreciate it!

This wasn't an attack on you! I've just seen a lot of games with copy pasted feedback that make me think they've spammed a load of comments without taking the time to play people's games.

Giving feedback is sometimes hard though, I get that. I worry I'm too mean sometimes!

Submitted

No, I dont think that you are mean. Getting better thats what are game jams about, and how is it possible without honest opinion on your games?

Submitted

Yeah gotta agree it's a bit disappointing some folk don't put effort in reviews i'd rather get some constructive feedback or criticisms rather than yeah good job bruh

I looked one persons comment history and apparently they'd played, rated and commented on 25 games in less than 15 minutes...

Sounds a bit Sus to me.

They were just a talented speedrunners :D

And also it depends on games they played - if this game is just top down shooter with one weapon and one enemy then you have nothing to say about it

Submitted

lolol, wish I could've seen the twitch stream!

Submitted

This stream would be like:
 - Opens game
- Its another top-down shooter
- Plays 10 seconds, closes the game and writes "Best game I ever played"

Yea, every big game jam there are a bunch of users who just copy and past the same response, and leave a "please checkout my game" comment too, it gets annoying.

Oh man I definitely felt it, looking at the feedbacks on my game these last days have been night and day.

There're sometimes GREAT feedbacks where people put a lot of time and effort clearly playing and writing constructive reviews, but there's definitely a wall of lazy comments. I was wondering if I was the only one feeling that sometimes people just don't play, and that's when I took like half a day playing dozens of games and seeing the EXACT SAME feedbacks from the very same users over and over again.

Edit:

This is one of the MANY games which don't get enough love Vale (Farewell)https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-9/rate/1933650

I understand the desire to get lots of rating and be the 'winner', but I imagine you don't actually win anything, and isn't it the quality of the ratings that count rather than the quantity?

This is my first game jam, and overall it has been a great learning experience. In general, I've had lots of thoughtful feedback and it will help me refine my skills and make better games. I hope that's what most people will gain from this and that they won't be discouraged if they don't win.  Probably the important things you can get out of these jams are: The experience of completing a game to a deadline, the feedback, experience of reviewing other games, and maybe a network of developers to potentially work with in the future.

I think it's understandable that they wants other people to play their games. But they could do this by actorly playing and giving great feedback to other people games.

That's the thing right, no one is winning anything. The point is to get good feedback on a game that you made in a week and probably already learned a ton from. We're all (mostly) in the same boat. We're all trying to learn. We're all trying to get better. And jam feedback is a great way for us to help each other.

Yes it's an issue, but I will not say it done by very many people. I will say that short messages can be okay, especially when a game already have gotten a lot of feedback. But if it's only done to get people to play their own games, I don't like it.

I completely agree. There's nothing wrong with a short comment, sometimes, there's not much new to add. But when it's the same comment pasted across loads of games in such a short space of time, I can't help but feel frustrated for people who just want legitimate feedback. It's like, if you want good feedback, then give good feedback in return.

I too have seen and received these comments. Normally I give people the befit of the doubt. I sometimes feel bad about leaving constructive feedback because it seems obvious to me that its already on their minds. But it does make me appreciate the really good constructive feedback I've received from others by comparison.
