I win!

This game is super cool, it looks and sounds great, and as it's just a cool boss fight then it's fun too. Difference of damage between bullets and pikes is hilarious as the former can't kill you while the latter can kill you super fast if you don't pay attention, I like enemies and extra pikes coming when you take power-ups.

That's a fun game, thanks for sharing.

Developer

Congratz on your win! :D Thank you for the feedback! Yeah at first I had the spikes do the same damage as the bullets. But then I thought the spikes werent such a threat. so... I just made the spikes do like 10X more damage to make them like real spikes haha xD

Again thank you for the feedback and playing!

Really beautiful art and I loved the idea of playing inside of the boy's imagination with himself as the hero. It crashed once on browser for me as well as i was close to beating the boss, but i replayed and managed to beat him. I found myself just avoiding the blue powerups since it seemed to spawn monsters but I didn't notice a benefit on myself. I also didn't use the eraser and instead opted to just shoot the whole time. Maybe if there was a boss ability that was guaranteed to hit you unless you used the eraser, that would make it feel more powerful and necessary. Also the repetitive noise while shooting was a little abrasive to my ears. Overall a nice game jam submission, nice work!!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah it's true you can just avoid the blue ones so it makes it easier for you xD So the eraser was there to be used as a shield that blocks the projectiles. This could make it easier to go through the obstacles. Now the blue powerups were filling the energy of the eraser since the shield can get broken after getting hit so much. We had this idea that if a projectile hit the eeraser it would bounce back and transformed into a bullet on your side. But it was harder to program in the small time xD again thank you for your feedback!

The art was absolutely beautiful, with gameplay to match! Overall, very well designed game!

Developer

Thank you so much for these kind words! :D

Loved the art style! I wish that you could go a bit slower because I have a brain that melts easely. It was also a bit unclear to me that you could go into the spikes but you get hurt. But i wishto see moreif this kind of art in the future.

Good job!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! The artist would love to hear this!
Yeah I do agree you go a bit too fast. About the spikes, In the downloadable version (the most recent version) there is a sound you hear when you touch the spikes. But in the web browser its not there. But had no time left to make a webGL again with the sound xD

Really nice art style and fun gameplay. I could not finish it on browser because it crashes for me :(
Anyway, good game!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah unfortunately you are not the only one :( Should take a look one day for future projects.

Hello! 👋

Positive: ✨

  • The paper art style is absolutely charming and unique!
  • The music fits perfectly with the game's atmosphere.
  • The eraser mechanic to erase projectiles is a unique and new idea to me.

Improvements: ⚙️

  • UI Clutter: The screen is a bit cluttered with UI elements, which makes the play area quite small. Consider streamlining the UI to give players more room to maneuver.
  • Colliders: The colliders (either player or projectile) seemed a bit unforgiving. Usually, it's better to make them smaller in these types of games, but maybe I just need more practice! 😅
  • Bug Fix: The game occasionally crashes with an HTML-related error. This might be something on my side, but I haven't experienced it with other WebGL builds.

Great job on the game! This brought back some nostalgia from playing paper jumper. Looking forward to seeing more from you! 👏

Developer

Thank you for your well listed out feedback and kind words! I am glad to hear you like the art style! Fun fact about the collider of the player. I already made it smaller haha. But I can understand since you need to cramp yourself in between obstacles. Will take note for next time!

Neat art style, but yeah, the controls could use some smoothing

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I am glad to hear about the art style!

Love the visuals and overall feel of the game. It's really fun. I would slow down the player a bit as it is hard to control and add a crosshair to know where you're shooting but apart from that it's pretty much all there

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I do agree it goes a bit to fast haha. The crosshair is actually a great idea! will keep that in mind if I go further with this or make another bullet hell.

Lord Scribblebottom is one of the best villain names I've seen this jam XD. Good job!

Developer

Haha thank you so much! The artist came with that name and it as perfect
