Love it ^_^ got to wave 21 but didn't realise what the flower...flower did! Seen the comments now and that makes sense. Very addictive, very cute and didn't run in to any bugs whilst Expanding (:D) my pumpkin empire! <3
Very funny game! The sounds in the game are the best! =D
What a great take on a tower defense style game. I love how everything is connected via roots. For a moment I forgot about having to reach the water, but then by wave #14 I managed to reach it. Having to grow specific types of pumpkins to earn more stars/growth points is clever. I never figured out what the star plant does.
I tried going fullscreen using F11, but only afterwards read here in the comments that the correct key is F π I think in GameMaker you can change the game project settings to allow window scaling via the top buttons and dragging the edges too.
The game looks and sounds great as well. The tiny sprites combine very well with the mouth sound effects.
The star plant paralyzes enemies that eat it, I'll probably add something to explain that. F11 does make more sense, I kind of forgot that its a button on my keyboard. I'll have to look into that Fullscreen button thing cause that sounds amazing. I'm glad you like the arts and thanks for the review.
Very enjoyable little game. I am not very good in tower tower defense games in general but the mechanics are very solid and as others mentioned the idea of the expansion was really great. I just love how they connect each other. Great job! (I only made it to 5th wave :( but I will try again for sure.)
I think your interpretation of expansion was really clever! I think you have a solid foundation here you could develop further. The was very small but I had fun nonetheless
I'm glad you had fun. I'll probably smooth at the game eventually but I'm also interested in taking the "moving tower defense" idea into a more sci-fi setting
Cute audio! And I actually enjoy the tower defense thing this game has. I wish the screen was a bit bigger because it's a bit small for me that I have trouble reading it (but I guess it adds more into the charm)
I should definitely account for larger screens, I use a laptop so I typically make my games smaller. There is a fullscreen option if you press F but I just forgot to add that into the controls rundown in the opening screen. I appreciate the feedback
I made it to 41 waves! The sound effects are so cute! I had fun to play this game.
That's like so many waves! I'm glad you enjoyed :)
I enjoyed it!! Your game is a truly creative one. I read your reply to other players, and I feel your ideas are great. Like extending the time for upgrading after more waves. Don't give up on the ideas you and your sister have. I want to encourage you to keep working on it after jam if you have time. Jam games that require downloading to play usually donβt get enough feedback. Hope you wonβt be discouraged by the rankings.
Cool little game! I had a bit of trouble getting into it as there was a steep learning curve and only a bit of text explaining it all before playing. I learned through playing the game though! I still don't quite know how everything works, but I had enough knowledge to get halfway to the pond. Then all of a sudden a very hard wave hit and I died! I kinda wish I knew how much damage each turret did, or what upgrade would have been worth it. Right now I just kind of clicked on things and hoped for the best, but I didn't quite know what a good strategy would be. I can't really comment on the balancing as maybe it's quite balanced if you know what you're doing. I loved the art and subtle sounds as well! The little animations, like when you're eaten, are very well done! Good job on finishing a game and thanks for participating in the jam!
My sister had the idea of adding a short text synopsis for each pumpkin explaining what they did, possible including a short stats overview, but at that point there wasn't enough time. The other idea was to make it so you have increasingly more time to prepare for the waves so that you can plan against the tougher ones. I appreciate all the feedback!
Fun to play game! Every mechanic work like intended and that art make nostalgic vibe (who recorded these sounds?! :D)
I'm glad you find it fun. The sounds were made by my sister.
