Whooooa! This combat system is unforgiving!

What I liked:

  • The graphics are one of a kind. The chambers are super nice to look at and the colors are big contrast to the danger everywhere. I think that is a good choice! The enemy models are also great!
  • The movement is really snappy and feels great
  • I like that enemies are dropping stuff. I sooooo like drops and find them heavily rewarding. Also the variety of drops is nice. (a lantern that brings you to a random room ... cool stuff)
  • I liked the fights that were easy ^^ those I could manage, because winning is always fun ^^
  • I really liked your interface. Good job on the inventory and the book there. All in all this has a solid visual style.

What can be improved:

  • Only one thing: Maaaybeee add a difficulty slider somewhere that defines how fast the needle in the fights is moving ^^. For me it was mostly too hard to hit the spot. Especially the bomb was impossible to hit for me.

Apart from the difficulty: a great entry!

Developer

A big thanks for you. Very detailed. I'll absolutely consider difficulty level in my next game.

yeah, i was NEVER going to hit anything with the slider thingies.

i did manage hit something to a couple of times, but for me this was mostly a "getting wrecked" simulator.

1234 for ABCD i found amusing.

Developer

Thanks for reply. It's turly very hard to hid a thing :p

The game style is inconsistent. You do these fill in the blanks and then at timing attack. There is nothing tying the whole thing together. Baldi's Basics has math problems in the game and it makes sense with the game. A spelling game generally only does spelling. The two types you have here don't mesh well in my opinion.

The game is also brutally hard. I do like the colorful look.

Developer

Thanks for playing. I'll consider more about the story and consistency in my next game.

Great looking game.  Target was impossible to hit to me. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that target speed is not using delta time.

Developer

I'm pretty sure that the difficulty need a big update :) I can't beat the moster most times. Thanks for playing.

This seems like a really cool concept. Collect 9 puzzles. The level of polish on the random monsters, the random rooms, walking around, the POV spotlight all look good. I like the style. I also died 100% of the time. I think I defeated one dude in about a dozen attempts. Maybe slow down the left/right target, enlarge the target zone, give more health? The controls feel good, the dungeon looks good, my reactions just aren't fast enough.

Thanks for making a cool game.

Developer

Thanks for reply. Glad you like it. I'll add difficulty level in my next game.

Unfortunately we were unable to hit any of the monsters off the entry level rooms and died every time. The reaction time thing was a great idea but the success window at the start was far too small to make it playable for us. We couldn't get anywhere so we couldn't really judge on completeness. The low poly style was nice and worked well. The instant and repetitive failures on our part meant it wasn't much fun for us. Sorry to say all this. We can see you put a lot of effort in. Maybe a difficulty level at the start would help and we'd like the Grandma setting please! Well done for submitting your game.

Thanks for reply. I'll add difficulty level setting latter or in my next game.

Hey TickTock. On reflection we were a bit harsh with our comments yesterday. Please don't let this put you off. You have made a great looking game and we would love to solve the puzzles in there. We see your girlfriend did the art assets in AssetForge, one of our favourite tools. Tell her she did a great job and to keep going with making game art. She's got the knack! Anyway best of luck and well done for getting your game submitted. We know how hard it is to execute on these things, especially given the short timescales. Well done, Rebello (Adam&Dan)

Thanks for saying that. You are very kind. I also acknowledge that the difficulty has some problems. It's a good thing to have the turly feedback of our game. BTW I think you create a great game. I love it very much.

I really liked the graphics and the movement felt really good! Congratulations on your jam entry!

I ran into an issue: when the game starts, if I turn around and open the door behind me, I fall below the map and there is a super hard fight against something invisible.

Developer

Thanks. I'll check out that :)

Thumbs up for really good, quick and responsive movement. Like the colorful and quirky graphics and the reaction based combat.

Wow this game was quite cool! The visuals were really great. And I liked how the levels were random each time. That monster with the teeth was awesome and the lighting/colors set an interesting mood.

The combat was hard though wow! Maybe I'm getting too old to play fast/reflex-based games haha.

I recognized some of the characters on the walls and was curious about their significance: 小老虎,吃大白菜

Developer(+2)

小老虎爱吃大白菜, means A little tiger love to eat Chinese cabbage. It's my girlfriend's nickname. She put her name on the wall for fun. She make all the art work. Thanks for playing our game.

Game looks superb, movement and feel is spot on, the idea and the mechanics are very awesome.

My only gripe is that it is waaaaay too hard: the QTE isn't as precise as it should be and a lot of the rooms leave you with no safe options to cross them (you end up having spikes in front and spikes behind you and this makes you die eventually).

Also, some questions need to be spellchecked and verified for response errors (but this can be overlooked).

This is easily one of my favorite games at the jam so far and I would really love to play a version that fixes the random generation and makes combat a bit easier.

Awesome job!

Developer

Thanks for reply. It may have an update after this jam.

How big is your team? This is a real good looking game, I'm really impressed

Developer

Just me and my girlfirend. I handle the program and she handle the art (by using asset forge) and UI. I'm really glad that you like it.

The game is brutal, especially as a non-native English speaker, I like it.

The balance between, exploration, combat and riddles is cool, even if I might not be the biggest fan of the implementation of each part, and so is earning a title when you finally manage to defeat a strong enemy.

The colourful world looks pretty cool, finally.

Developer

Thanks. I'm also a non-native English speaker haha
