Cool writing/use of theme.
I didn’t love the combat – I was just trading hits hoping to win and heal off a level-up, but it got me killed. Combat could auto-resolve without missing out on anything, and it would play much faster.
But kudos on the self-imposed restriction of making this as a playable Game Boy ROM(??), that’s crazy! I wanna try it myself now.
Interesting implementation of the theme. Combat is simple and upgrades are more random than I would like, but it added some additional difficulty to the game. Combat music theme is super energetic and repetitive, but I think it actually suites this game aesthetic and theme.
Ah shoot the game wouldn't load on Mac + Chrome for me. Prolly something on my end. Looks really neat, tho!
I didn't get to the light part. The random encounters and music during combat were getting too annoying for me. So I quit after dying, sorry. Still 5* for theme, it's obvious from the description and images.
Just not my type of game.
Yeah, I was worried about the music, it my its one of the things I am going to re-work along with re-rebalancing the encounter rate. Thanks for playing.
I played through the whole game. I thought I would get lost, but I didn't.
And honestly, I loved almost everything about your game!
It was maybe a bit too easy combat-wise, I got overpowered pretty quickly, and levelling up happened regularly enough that I never feared dying. Then again, it's more about the experience than it's about the battles.
I would definitely play a longer version on my game boy with my flash card. It would be quite the experience, with some pen & paper nearby to draw a map this time.
Awesome work! I had a great time.
I am hoping to expand the dungeon more and re-work the music and combat for a longer version of the game. I had to keep my scope small so I could complete the game. But I am glad you enjoyed playing.
Nice game, I liked it, this was fun and the sounds cool. Well done !
I really like this entry alot! The visuals are very striking and the enemies are unique and varied (Some of those faces are very creepy ). The music could be a little jarring after a while, but I think it does sound good for a jam soundtrack, very atmospheric and tense.
I ended up creating a map as I went and was able to wake up and kill the final boss.
Really interesting theme implementation as well with the different worlds the "fight" in the dark world transitioning to "speak" in the light world, I definitely got the vibes of a story about the parallels between dealing with nightmares and inner demons an dealing with stress and anxiety in the waking world.
The biggest issue for me early on was that the encounters were very frequent (Maybe I was just unlucky), but I'm glad I stuck with it because it's a really cool entry! Great job!
Using GBStudio, I think the game has some artistic creativity that is reminiscent of undertale monsters!
I like the artstyle and overall climat of your game. Also i think music was great!
I defeated the final boss. I like the look of the rooms and the music change between the dream realm and the real one.
I really like the encouraging words I got in the "awake" world, thought it was a funny way to boost the character. Also liked the music, though the battle music became a bit annoying over time since it was a constant pop-up hehe. Must say I really enjoyed the retro graphics, good job!

I managed to make it up to the light area, but I was overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of geometric face people.
I loved the aesthetics of this game, it reminded me a lot of the first phantasy star game(it had dungeon crawling!), which I played on gameboy a lot.
