I got the note to sever my tether, but can't seem to actually do it. I tried attacking it several times but that didn't seem to have any impact.

Developer

Sorry about that, that's one of the more obscure mechanics. Your tether has to be directly ahead of you to be severable (that is, it won't work if you're standing even slightly diagonal to where your body is). Thanks for giving it a try.

I've added some puzzle hints and solutions on the game page for the parts that I've seen people have the most trouble with. Check those out if you're stuck! :)

Really cool puzzle mechanic.
It took me a little while to figure out what was going on, but I think that was just because the sound hasn't been added yet.  So I wasn't picking up on pressure plates and such.

I got stuck on the second second puzzle.  After I did the double tether and activated the torch, all I got was one platform of sparkles near the button.  I wasn't sure if this was a glitch because I had no clue what to do next.

Good use of puzzle mechanics. I enjoyed it!

Very good theme implementation and very good overall puzzler. I quite enjoyed playing this! I guess you are just missing sounds, but maybe you can add that post jam

Ooooh! I love puzzle games and this game did not disappoint! Great job!

  • I really like the art style, simple and clean.
  • UI did not get in the way and made sense to me.
  • Movement is crisp and doesn’t detract from the game / environment
  • Great use of the theme!
  • Only real downside is the lack of audio. I think a spooky ambient track would really elevate this without much effort.

Overall a solid game! Thanks for making it :D

I really liked the ideas here (especially being a big far of knowledge-based exploration games)! Unfortunately I found it hard to engage with them; I'm not sure how much of that was due to bugs, and how much to my lack of understanding of the mechanics?

I made two attempts, and both times I couldn't figure out how to progress past the room with the six golems (after lighting all four braziers and killing five golems; the game wouldn't let me stand on the pressure plate for the sixth). I could of course still complete the game by the other path, but I assume there was more to do on the main one?

Otherwise, the game looked good, with nice models and lighting; nice work overall!

Ah, the four torches were a separate puzzle from the golems. That idea with the golem room was that one of the six little golem "cages" had a torch you needed to light, and to circumvent fighting up to six golems to see which room was the key forward, you could scout through the doors in spirit form to avoid opening them at all.

The next puzzle with the four torches being so close to the golem one is admittedly misleading and could've been pushed a bit further away.

The sixth pressure plate was indeed kinda buggy after taking another look at it, so thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks for your comments :)

I have managed to walk through a wall in the normal form to skip some parts. The map layout is quite confusing since you can see some of the previous sections making it hard to determine where to go next. The puzzle design was really good but attacking your tether to walk further tutorial should be more clarified. I was stuck on the first puzzle where you need to slice your tether cord for a while.

I'd planned to make the different areas more distinct using props and decorations, which probably would've made navigation better, but I ran out of time for that. And I'd found a few wall issues myself, immediately after the submission period ended :') A reminder to place more emphasis on polish and playtesting next time, I suppose. Thanks for playing!

"Congratulations!

Thanks for playing!"

I got back the recipe, that was awesome, I'm not even sure I did everything the right way towards the end, and that'd be a good thing if you can do it a bit differently anyway, but I absolutely loved extinguishing all the candles one by one then dying onto pikes each time to get back to the beginning, that was a very satisfying ending sequence.

The game looks atmospheric, the movement is perfect both with or without instant movement, and your use of the theme is the best I've seen so far, cutting your line of life is a cool twist to what could have been fun anyway but still a little less unique. You made a very complete dungeon given the context to support it , each puzzle is fun to solve. There's no sound, well, no biggie, if I want to listen to a stock soundtrack while playing I still can do that anyway ;) .

Thank you for the lovely comment. I’m very happy to hear what you liked about the game, and that you finished and enjoyed it, especially the final sequence. I’d been worried about the balance between making the solution to the last puzzle hidden at the beginning but possible to intuit by the end so I’m pleased it landed for you.

And death by spike traps is a totally valid way to get back :) it can definitely be much faster than cutting your cord.

Loved those puzzles, unfortunately there is a bug if you die in spirit form - you get your movement locked and the only way i found to fix it is to restart the game.

Playing between spirit and nonspirit with links provided quite a lot of fun regardless :)

Developer

Oof, I hadn't noticed that, good catch.

Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
