The art is just adorable and very polished!
Enjoyed the gameplay although I could manage to avoid some projectiles by just standing on a specific side of the screen.

Once I realized there were powerups I wanted to collect them all hahah. Also let me collect lives ad infinitum !!! >:D

Don't know if this is common practice on shmups, but I could tell the input vector wasn't normalized (maybe I'm wrong though), so you can move faster diagonally than in unit axis directions.

The art style is so on point tho, nice job guys!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! Haha, yeah if you know what you are doing you can get through fairly easy opposed to dying several times. We haven't thought about normalizing the input vectors yet. We'll consider it next time c:

This is so adorable visually! I'm admittedly really bad at shmups lol but this was really fun and really cute! Great job!

Fun classic-style shmup!

While it's pretty standard in terms of shmup mechanics, it's pretty well executed, I especially liked the artwork and scenery, the cloud pattern looks great!

Pretty fun game. I think the feedback when shooting enemies could have been better though. Maybe a hitsprite or have the enemy shake/flash,  perhaps even some screenshake/hitlag could have have helped. Also the player hitbox felt a bit big, but maybe I'm just spoiled from playing to much touhou. The art is also nice.

Thank you! Yes, you're right. Thanks for pointing that out, we will remember that for next time :)

No problem :). I find that looking at other shoot em ups for inspiration helps.

Submitted(+2)

love everything about it but the keyboard controls, still awsome though

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! What exactly felt off to you with the keyboard controls?

Submitted(+1)

the fact that the movement buttons and the shoot buttons are so close together feels off, I expected to be able to move with the arrow keys but that wasn't the case, also I think I broke it XD

Developer

I see, thanks for the information. We have seen the bug occur in our tests but didn't get to fix it :P

Glad to see another shooter-loving developer in this jam! Rock solid work right here! The pixel art is top notch, i love the enemies' looks! Controls really well as well. Have you considered making the background scroll speed a little bit slower than the rest? It feels like a parallax effect would fit wonderfully!

Developer

Hey Shooter-Buddy! Thanks for the feedback :D Yeah we thought about making a parallax but didn't have the time to implement it.

The pixel art is just amazing ! I wish the game mechanics were a bit more unique, because everything else is perfect

very much wow

Very beautiful

The Dino is super cute! The keyboard option didn't work when my controller was plugged in.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah, we just noticed the controller issues after our submission...

Wow, really impressive. This much content in such a short amount of time. When i got to the boss i couldn't believe it!! You even had time to make a boss! Incredible!  I think this game would greatly benfit from endless mode with a score counter of which i would hold the high score of course! the only critique i can give is that I dont really see the Game Jam theme "take care" in the game, but the Art is great the gameplay feels great and its well balanced. really great job guys!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! We had a lot of ideas on what we wanted to implement but there is only so much you can do in 48 hours :P Struggled to fit the theme in like we wanted to.

Damn, good graphics and level design. The game is pretty challenging! It does feels similar to other side scrollers, I would have added some new mechanic like the ability to take care of allies and then they will join you by adding an extra weapon or something.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I like that idea :)

looks amazing,  and its a pretty solid shmup, great job!

Submitted(+3)

This is absolutely delightful :)

Very smooth gameplay and the art is amazing.

It feels very polished and was really fun to play!

Man I have not played a game like this in forever. And the whole way through I was thinking "man I wish this game was a little harder, to truly dip into that nostalgia feeling."... And then I met Gumbo. And so the fun really picked up for me. What else can I say? The game looks and sounds amazing. Plays super well. My only wish is for more content! Give me that spread shot, the laser attacks and bouncy shots. Give me the gummy worm monsters that swirl around the screen, the marshmallow enemies that grow bigger if you don't shoot them... I could go on and on. What I am trying to say is... Really well done!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! Yes! We would love to have had even more content and gameplay variety in the game! The possibilities are endless \(°^°)/

Art and gameplay work together incredibly well. Great submission!

Submitted(+3)

So much fun! Extremely appealing visuals.

I encountered a few control bugs when switching between keyboard and controller. I backed out to the menu a few times and that seemed to solve the issue. While your game is clearly fantastically made, with polish oozing out of every pore, I'm not really sure what this has to do with the theme...

Otherwise: great art, great animations, great aesthetic, awesome sound design. Good work all around!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback and reporting the issue :)
