Jam Host

Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 6! My name's Hythrain, and I'm one of the hosts and streamers for this event! This feedback is being written live on my stream.

I had a lot of fun with this. It was simple and easy to understand. It feels like the perfect sort of mini-game in a larger game. There were two things, however, that either bothered me or I felt should be changed.

1. Since you only get six units and one of each, why bother setting them each time? Why not give each a set position? Unless you plan to expand it to allow for multiple of each type or to add more job options, it feels pointless to force the player to add them each time.

2. The effect of unit size to damage is crazy. I get that more units = more damage, but it makes attack upgrades much weaker compared to adding more units. If this game is expanded into a more full game concept, it for sure needs to balance that out to make attack upgrades more effective for damage done.

Other than these things, I like it. I can't wait to see what you're going to do with it.

Simple but very fun and fast gameplay, enjoyed it quite a lot!

For most levels I was barely winning the last battle with half my team remaining which felt pretty nice!

Last boss however felt like RNG was screwing me over a bit since if the enemy ranged decided to focus-fire my healer squad in the back then I was pretty much doomed no matter what I did.

The art is very charming with different sprites for attack/damage even. Music started to feel a bit repetitive though.

Could see plenty of potential to build up from here with different units and more story and whatnot, great work!

Great work! The mechanics are familiar, yet the game is engaging and fun. I would love to have more information about the enemies and their strengths and weaknesses. Also, maybe it makes sense to give all your units an “empty” turn after you clear the one encounter. This is needed for healers to make their move if they haven’t had a chance yet. Some games with similar combat have things like that. The art and music feel very well-suited. Well done!

Incredible work, the art and gameplay are excellent, probably the best game I've tried in this jam so far.

I like the art style and game loop is quite engaging

there seem to be some UI .. bugs? I mean, for instance, first time playing I manage to finish organizing without actually having anyone selected for battle, I think I clicked so fast it got me through and I didnt even see the organizing screen.

Music can get a bit repetitive after a while.

This Fantasy VII will be your Final!

Can't believe there is a Game that is fully playable and finished! Overall Fun!

the game is really nice but I feel like the UI could be better, aside from that it was fun

small sidetone the giant unit sprite looks like it was scaled wrong, it's not as clean as the others

Very tight battle game, I really loved the art and had a lot of fun beating it!

Small bug: If you start a battle without choosing any units it hard locks you (can't even quit). I did this by accident :(
