Cool simple game, I loved the background story (it really keeps you motivated to continue playing).
Congrats!

Theme interpretation
I took the theme "moonshot" quite literally: a game about shooting the moon.
It's simple, it's pure, it's a cause you can get behind. Blow up the moon!
A fun little game, and the backstory gives it real personality. Great work!
A fun color matching game, I used to play this kind of game when I was younger but they never came with an interesting story haha. Good thinking there. Adding a story element ends up adding so much to a game, really adds that personal touch to it.
The puzzles themselves seemed pretty easy at the start and I thought I would finish all the levels no problem, and then the game introduced 3 colors and I had a really hard time lol. Good jam entry!
I thought this was very polished and focused and was a really good take on the theme. Nice job!
I liked the concept and the writing, but it's just too long at 55 levels. If something amazing happened along the way - like a new mechanic or twist to the puzzle was introduced -then I might have enjoyed it. But I got my fill of solving the puzzle at level 28.
Thanks for the useful feedback! Yeah, I probably went a bit overboard on the levels. I ended up making enough levels to tell the story, but I also found it a bit long.
I did have another concept I wanted to add where you rescue people stuck on the moon before destroying it. The goal would have been to avoid destroying the people blocks until they were on the outside of the moon so they could be rescued. But I ended up shelving it since the AI solver became too complex.
Had a blast with this one. Great core mechanic for a puzzle game. Good job!
I really like this one! Gameplay is simple but makes for fun puzzles. I did complete all levels, would like to see more!
It took me a while to realize that you could select any block of the moon, I started out thinking you could only aim at the very edges haha. Overall, quite enjoyable, I like the concept of it a lot. I got stuck on level 11, I tried it a pretty good amount of times but the solution evades me at the moment. Nice work!
Thanks! It's funny that you say that because originally, the game worked by only shooting the edges of the moon. When you moved, the laser would point at the exterior block that was closest to the pointer. Changing it to allow firing anywhere on the moon increased the possibilities (and difficulty of the computer solver) but was somehow more satisfying. I did think of it as 2d flat space originally, though :)
Polished, clever, difficult, and with a surprisingly compelling story. (It’s certainly kept me going “one more level!” longer than the puzzle alone would have.) Nicely done!
That's my strategy as well! But it can be solved with human strategy (or a dumb computer with a lot of time--see the solver code: https://github.com/davidfig/moonshot/tree/main/solver).
