Idea is good and something I would like to make myself some time but right now this has too many issues (even download version). Setting up a trade route is not very intuitive. And once I did that it quickly sold all supplies I didn't see any easy way to stop it. Seeing more than 2 decimal numbers on proces also cluters UI.

Since it is made in Unity maybe you could add me to your team? I could help you improve a few things if you want.

Hello Bryen, sorry I didnt log-in to itch.io in a while. Where can I reach out to you?

I think I can join your discord channel you mentioned on the game page

The concept of this it's very good! I hope you keep improving it :)

Developer

We are working on it! We are adding a bunch of new features, been working on it every day. Thanks for your kind comment!

Concept sounds nice, but I couldn't get the game to run, it just kind of occasionally moved the camera.  Hope it continues later, map traders can be fun!

Developer

It works in the downloadable version. If not: Can you let me know what is going on so that I can fix it!

I tried for a good while to get your game running. Both Full Screen and not. No matter what I do, I can't get past this tutorial text and into the map. It's possible I'm missing something, if so, do let me know and I'll circle back here later on.

If I'm right and this where your game is at, I'd argue this is not playable. You are allowed within the rules to fix game-breaking bugs in order to get your game and your month of hard work in front of players as long as you publicly disclose what you changed. I think you should do this. Fix whatever camera bug you have and get that text out of the way at least. Feel free to contact someone who is actually on the jam staff if you're unsure, but I don't think you really have anything to lose. Let me know if you upload an updated version of your game, I'll hold off rating until then. Best of luck

Thats interesting. I never seen the text doing that. I already fixed up the camera and UI problems but I am not sure if it is allowed to update it. I will upload a new downloadable file that works (from the tests that I have ran) I am not sure where would I disclose the changes I have made as this is the first time I am using itch.

However by the time you have read this, the file will probably be up as a new downloadable windows version.  Thanks for your interest. Comments like these make my day. Cheers!

Edit: The file is now up. I think I fixed all the issues that I have seen up untill now. Except for hitboxes sometimes being weird.

Hey great, I just had a chance to take a look at your game again now. I'm glad you decided to upload a fixed build, I hope it leads to even more players trying out your game. Now I can see what you were going for and my! These are ambitious plans. I really like the art style you guys chose, the rich pixel detailing on the map and the cute little ships. The trading system appears both robust and complex. I really like the idea of being a Merchant in Venice at this time, it's such a rich period of history and so rarely explored, even less so in games. Thanks for your entry!

This means so much to me! We really did put up a hard-work. We were kind of discouraged because of the state of the game when I submitted it. I felt like I betrayed my teammate because all the errors were due to my responsibilities. Maybe I should've spent less time making music for our game so it wouldn't have any problems when we first uploaded it but thanks to your kind words we really feel encouraged again! We are really new to the game development scene and we don't really know a lot about stuff but I hope by keeping the game updated and adding new features we could build an audience. Itch seems like the correct place to do so.

Thank you so much!!!

As long as you learned something, and it sounds like you did, I think you can call this Game Jam a success. In my opinion, that's what they are best for. I'm sure your teammate understands that game development is difficult work as most people interested in games do and hopefully has the grace to be cool about any difficulties or disappointments you faced. In the end, there are no real stakes here, no prize money at stake, it's just a friendly gathering of developers online. I wish you all the best for your own future as a game developer!

Nice job on the cover art! And I can't believe you made this in a jam! Great work!

Developer

Well to be honest it was in an un-playable state when the game was uploaded to the Jam :) I wish I had just another day so I could have made a better submission that would most likely seen success but this is my first finished project and I am proud of it no matter what. Thank you for your kind comment:)

the capsule art is very cool! I also liked the main concept, but sadly I couldn't really see anything without turning fullscreen - then I read what was on screen - then I had to exit fullscreen to be able to pan the camera. And after doing that 3 times I just gave up. I think you were very ambitious with this idea and I really like the overall feeling of it, but I couldn't get into it in this state.

Developer

Hello, thanks for your kind comment! I uploaded a new file that fixed a lot of errors. It is playable from the tests I have done. Hope you give it an another chance :)

Ambitious making a trading game for a jam.

I like the map of Europe.

I just wish the text were a lot bigger so I could read anything.

Developer (1 edit)

You are right. It was way too ambitious and by the time I've realized that it was too late. We didn't have any time for testing so I didn't know that UI would be so small :// UI is easily fixable however, the camera is where all my hopes went down. I should've just used cinemachine but I didn't. And I don't know if it is ok to fix the camera using cinemachine after the jam ended.

Concept seems pretty. Art and music are good, but UI and font are too low.
Will be glad to see you playing in our game <3

I like the overall concept! I think with some more work put into it this could be really nice! I really like the pixelated atmosphere of the time the game is playing at!
