Game description
The King's Courier is a narrative-driven adventure game where you assume the role of the King’s courier, entrusted with delivering crucial messages across the realm of Falgarod.

As the royal courier, you must carefully choose your words when delivering the King's commands, for what you say can shape the fate of the land. Out there in the country, not everything is what it seems, and underneath the peace that binds the realm, there stirs a plot to overturn everything.

Theme interpretation
One of the main plot points is the existence of a secret society operating beneath the kingdom's reach.

Played it through to the end. You captured the obliviion look and feel almost perfectly. I like the idea of low/no combat games and the style fits the kind of simplified conversation style well. The walking sounds were a little loud relative to the music and I'll echo what everyone else said, lock/hide the mouse and the FOV is way way too close in. I think the FOV might be good for conversations but for exploring it felt rough. I did see the lady in red which seems like a luck thing and chased her down. The bones of a really neat experience are here and it looks and sounds really good.

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! I've actually never played Oblivion myself, but I'm familiar with it through videos and lots of lore reading, so that might have been a subconscious inspiration indeed. I'm glad you got to experience the Lady in Red sequence as I intended! But I agree it could be made easier to notice so that more players can catch it. Thanks again for playing it and sharing your thoughts!

I really like your writing style, it fits the world well and the first town feels like something out of an early 2000s CRPG (in a good way).

I agree with Grubwall on most of their feedback, especially locking and hiding the mouse cursor, I got very distracted seeing it fly off my screen while playing. I also did not see the Lady in Red walk into the forest, so it took a little bit to find her. Something that may help folks visually find her is if the forest is a little darker, but a dim light (candle or magical flame) is in the distance. Alternatively, you could alter the textures to look like grass that's been walked over so there's a slightly less obvious visual cue, but still something.

You should keep working on this project, I'd be interested to see where the story goes!

Thank you so much! I'm still fairly new to game design, so feedback like this means the world to me. I hadn’t realized how distracting the cursor could be until it was pointed out, so it's definitely something I’ll address. Your ideas for helping players find the Lady in Red are a great help, and I’m grateful for the suggestions. While I’m not sure when I’ll return to developing this game, comments like yours really motivate me to dive back in as soon as I can.

I really like the idea of being just the "courier" instead of a "standard fantasy hero", I think you did a good job on the writing too.
Some feedback to consider: I think the field of view is a little low for a first person game. Pressing menu while playing teleported be back to the horse. I guess I wasn't looking in the right direction when my character noticed the "lady in red" so it took a while to find her, thankfully you have the boy mention she's in the woods. Locking and hiding the mouse cursor when walking around look and feel better. Best of luck with developing the game further! :)

Hi, thanks for your kind words and great feedback.

I was unsure about the FOV too, and will try a broader perspective that feels less like you're viewing the world via a looking glass. My game tester/girlfriend also missed The Lady in Red on her first attempt, so you're probably right about fixing the view at her direction when she appears. As for teleportation, thanks so much for noticing it as I haven't while testing, will look into it.

I haven't been able to work on this project for a while due to life stuff, but your comment was quite encouraging, so thanks a bunch!
