Very cool game. Very original. I've never seen a game quite like it.

Great game! There is a lot to like here and I think you have a great foundation to build upon! The mechanic of building the level and then having to quickly navigate through it is very strong! I am not sure if the dark background was really necessary but I guess its cool cuz you have to remember where you placed stuff. I would have liked more control over where you can place the hazards, seems a little limiting. nice work!
Nice game and very cool idea that you have to place the obstacles and dangers on your own. I really liked also the sound and music of the game. It fitted very well. Just a detail, but I liked that you offer so many different control variants! Here is some feedback which might help to improve the game:
- Unfortunately SPACE did not work for jumping.
- The game is pretty difficult. Keep in mind that when the game feels easy for you, who played it a lot, it means that it might be still pretty difficult for people playing it the first time. Especially for a game jam, where people do not spend much time in getting good at the game. Make sure that for game jams you always start with very easy levels.
- I wished I had a bit more freedom to place the obstacles. Especially for the spikes I had the feeling, that the choices I had were all more or less the same.
Anyway, I think this is a very solid entry and congratulations on finishing your first game jam! Well done!
Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately I didn’t have time for people to play test my game so this feedback is very helpful. I wish I could make the placement less restrictive but if the player gets too much freedom they could just place traps in the corner and not worry about them at all. I’m glad you enjoyed!
Very impressive for your first entry, or any entry for that matter!
Very cool entry!
I really like just about everything about this game. It's a really cool concept to place the traps that you are going to have to get past, and also to have to sort of remember all the traps you have placed to get further.
I'm sure that you didn't have enough time, but it would be really cool to be able to use/spend your paycheck money on upgrades or otherwise also!
I am not used to the controls so timing the jumps are hard. I miss controller.
I could not get past level 2 as there are not enough space for me to maneuver.
Prob make the starting levels easier plsss.
The concept of designing your level but being forced on certain level is quite interesting.
And also like how each time the starting level is different.
I know you will have to switch back and forth to mouse to place the traps, but I've gotten where I use AntiMicroX program to map controls to my controller so I can play most all of these games with a controller, even if the game isn't made for them :)
You can download from below, or they have a Github that I think they put releases on also:
Platformer with a twist where you place the obstacles yourself. You might consider improving the following:
1) Sometimes it was hard to understand where the obstaces could be placed.
2) Restarting from the beginning isn't too much fun in the long run.
3) The levels are too dark.
Good job!
I love the UI, music, game, and I familiarize the game mechanics after a few rounds of playing, but i think you should put some light at some points like at the start, at the spikes and at the furthest room.
a wonderful game that could translate into something big in the future
Interesting concept of editing your own level before you go through it. It also has good music.
I feel the one little thing missing, is that I would really like if the lights actually turn on when you reach the switch at the end, and as a bonus you show interesting stuff in the room. I feel that'd be more satisfying.
You did a great job with this game! Placing objects into a pre-built level is a concept that's rarely seen on its own, but adding object to make the game harder is something that I doubt many have done in the past. And the fact that every new level, you have to go through the same obstacles as before?
Man, all I'm saying, is that you really cooked with this game.
This was your first game jam!!?!?? This game is great! You should be super proud!
The styling is coherent and well done despite being simple. I love the scene transitions and the UI worked perfectly well.
I really like the idea of the game, I really made it hard for myself in the first level with some poor placment of the obstacles 😅
