I had no idea this was a platformer to begin with and killed myself over and over :) Some floor contrast may have helped here. But then I figured it out, collected things that boosted my light and finally collected some treasure!

- A game that mixes Spelunky and skeletons. This game uses light and darkness to generate its exploration mechanics. Investigate around the dungeon and turn on your flashlight more to dodge obstacles! As an improvement, it would be interesting to correct some collisions with spikes, as even if you don't touch them you die, and it can feel unfair.

Nice little game. I really like the pixel art graphics. Here is some feedback on how you could improve the game:
- The green floor is not very visible in contrast to the background.
- The sounds get a bit boring after a while and especially the sound when you die gets a bit annoying.
- At the very bottom, I died when I ran into the wall in the middle with the spikes on top. It looks like the player somehow collides with the spikes.
Still a very solid entry! Congratulations to this game!
Awesome use of the theme! The core platforming game is solid and the lantern gives you a strong feeling of advancement as you are slowly revealing more and more of the map. The biggest issue I had with some of the visuals. The ground you are standing on in the start is very hard to tell from the background for me so at first I didn't realize it was a platformer. Also that first spike strip to the right is fairly long and the hitbox is pretty large for how restricted your view is at that point. But these are fairly minor things that don't take too much away from how fun the game is.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. I did run into issues with the hit boxes and I know there is room for improvement with the background foreground contrast.I wanted the player to learn to avoid spikes and tread carefully, but I agree that not being able to see the hazard could be frustrating. I think a cool idea is to trap the player with a hazard that they are able to overcome rather than instantly die to.
Fantastic power concept, it really fits the theme well. I like the skeleton pixel art animations when you jump. Overall very charming and fun platformer game.
I found the treasure, so I think I won. The style of the game is nice, and I like how you interpreted the theme. I enjoy music in a game, but the tune only has 1 or 2 bars, making it too repetitive. A longer tune would help.
It would be fun to play more levels and add some additional layers on top of the theme you have already, but it’s good for a 2 week game jam. Well done.
Cute little game. A few extra levels would have been nice but this is great work.
Really enjoyed the sound and movement. Wish it had lives bc i suck at games😭
I have to say fantastic platformer the movement feels incredibly smooth and the style is good. Excellent job!
Neat challenging little platformer! Explanation of controls and lightning increasing light power would be nice.
Really nice platformer! I thought the movement was solid and I liked the art style. Great work!
The differences in the background were really hard to read, even with the light powerups! Once I learned the layout of the level though it was easier, though I was disappointed a bit once I got the treasure and it just reset again haha. Also there was a bit of an a bug for me at least where the music would sometimes start overlapping and playing multiple instances at once, but it actually sounded great haha. Overall well done!
The sound of dying is hilarious! It keeps me playing this game. The light mechanic is a good find!
getting a sword is much easier than collecting light. Apart from that, this game is good because it really tests your patience. There is no difference whatsoever in picking up a sword or getting pricked by a thorn, in the end back to starting point. I mean, when you get pricked by a thorn it will confirm you are dead or something like that. And if you take the sword, it will confirm you win.
