Very nicely done! I played through it all. :)
And now for some constructive commentary: it seems that it doesn't detect when there are no moves left (or maybe I missed one?), that would be a nice detail. Also, I found that being able to buy moves so easily made it not so challenging. Finally, and that's purely personal, I found the music not that great. But I'm a musician, and a picky one. ;)
Getting things polished vs adding new features became a battle towards the end :).
Rather than figure out and work in the code for auto detect, i decided to stick in a manual reset button. As i developed the gameplay, this turned into quite a good strategic tool to use as a player. Choosing when to clear out the mine to start a fresh, to try and gain new bombs and such. With more time i'd like to add a few more things, such as move suggestion. Auto shuffle may come in with some game formats, depending on gameplay style, but it's on the list (i should write this list soon :D).
Buying moves was something i wanted to add in, specifically for the last mine, where it's expected and required that you'll need to use up your gold buying moves to complete it. On a difficulty level front i leant towards trying to make things easier, so that more people would get through and enjoy the process and complete the "story", especially in this GameJam set-up (the old mantra that your an expert at your own game, and other players won't have played it before). But moving forward the cost, and such for this element will need to be looked at i think, so it's something to consider moving forwards.
As for the music, you're the first to not like it :D. I've had loads of feedback from people loving it :). I was restricted to things i could find, Copy-write free, and redistributable (which is very hard to find with Music). But i respect your'e opinion on that front, even if i disagree :D. I'd probably look to get new music anyway in an expanded project.
Thanks for playing and the feedback, i appreciate it.
Well done - UI and gameplay were all in good order and it was fun and addicting. Art looked great too. This was really well scoped and fits the theme nicely, so good choice!
Thanks! i'm glad you liked it. I was fortunate with the Art to find a couple of excellent fake on openArt whose Assets i could tie together nicely. I'm glad you checked out the UI in particular, i spent ages keeping on top of anchor points and such :D.
Excellent all around!
thanks a lot :), glad you enjoyed it! :)
Great visuals and presentation! Well polished game.
Thanks a lot :), I appreciate it.
Incredible work. Havent gotten past mine 2 yet but i noticed on mine 1 after some time bombs stop appearing. If you rset they come again. But i bought more coins three times and no bombs appeared and then i reset. But you did and incredible job putting this together. Its brilliant.
The types of explosives are linked to the size of the matches, starting with dynamite on a match 5, bomb 6, of type match dynamite on 7 and above. So if the play area gets clogged with Stones, then it's hard to match. My strategy tip is to use the Reset button to clear out the grid, and start a fresh, get some new explosives form easier matches, then blow up more stones! :).
Hope that helps you on the way to the Danger Mine! :D
Also,.. thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you like it, and it's really useful to get this feedback off players to help me know where things could be clearer :). I appreciate it.
Such a great game, I don't have much feedback because this is such a well-polished game :)
Very well done :)
Thanks! I really appreciate that :). I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great game. So much of a goal post for what I will want to do in future Game jams.
Thanks a lot :), i'm glad you enjoyed it!
5 star review here, I honestly have nothing to say about bugs for this one, great game, a true winner and a beast for making this one!
Wow, thanks so much Underdog! i appreciate it! :)
what a polished match 3 game! You also managed to squeeze in a lot of level design here, good job!
thanks so much :). I'm so glad you liked it!
Well done, polished match 3 with some flair. Suggestion for improvement would be to animate the gems falling in after a match.
Thanks a lot, im glad you enjoyed it :).
I had a delay effect on the gems dropping (with a wait for seconds delay in the loop), but found my machine struggling to deal with that when it had to do the whole board, and slowed down gameplay. It's something i'd like to try again though.
As it was i decided to go for faster smoother gameplay, rather then waiting to long for drop animations. I need to find a better answer though.
But yeah, i'd like to improve and fix that if i can.
thanks for the feedback :)
One of my favourites, really well presented in the visuals department. While I can't say the gameplay is my jam, I did appreciate some features you added. With a bit more polish I can see this on steam.
Match3's aren't everyones thing :D, but i'm super glad you still enjoyed it even so :).
And that's very kind of you to say, thanks a lot!
Super Game! Loved the visuals!
Thanks :). I was fortunate to find some very nice free Assets i could bring together and theme.
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Nice and fun match three game.
Thanks! :) Glad you had fun!
A very good game! I love this kind of games and they are difficult to find in game jams!! Polish and with very good visuals!!
Thanks very much :). I had to balance new features with polishing in the last few days, decided to focus more on polish the set up i had.
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks for playing!
Soft mood. Like the difference between Panning and Cave. As said, the 'panner' image could be a bit more dark/contrasted.
Glad you liked it :), thanks for the feedback!
I loved it.
It is quite a fun game, with very good music and cool mood.
I love the way you're teaching us, the players, new game mechanics.
Anyway, I would change some few things
The first is to make the gem fall animations a little more animated. It needs some work.
The second is that let the game detect by itself that you cannot do more moves. To make a reset by you when it happens.
The third and last is to let the game to make some move suggestions to you, when you don't move for some time.
Thanks for the feedback and appreciation :).
All good suggestions.
I initially had a delay to the gems dropping down individual, giving more of a dropping down feel. But it was slowing things up, so i ended up taking it out. But something i'd like to improve moving forward on this project.
Auto reset, and Match suggestions are things i'd like to implement, but i ran out of time to implement that. But again, something to work on for future version :).
Thanks again! I hope you make it to the Danger Mine! :D
Oh, I already did it :P
Very, very well executed!
Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Absolutely amazing game. Played this one on a live stream on my youtube channel and everyone loved it as well. Great work.
Thanks! was great to watch you play as it made me realise some things i could make more clear!
Great chance to see some play testing in action! i appreciate it!
Wow. You are born to be Game Dev.
Awww :D thanks :
Nice job! This turned out really well and I can tell you spent a good chunk of the two weeks on this. At first I didn't understand the matching system because additional blocks were disappearing when I matched, but once I figured out that adjacent types also cleared, it really opened up. That's not a typical match-3 thing, but I really liked it. Gave the game a lot more relaxed feel compared to your standard match-3 fare. Well done :)
Thanks :). It was a pain at the time to wrap my head around getting the matches to work that way, and initially i wasn't sure if it was the right thing gameplay wise. But i'm glad i stuck with it.
Thanks for the feedback, i appreciate it!
