So creative and impressive! The mechanics fit perfectly with the theme and message. I'm so impressed with how well everything works. Love the freedom in where you can place towers, the slow unlock of new towers as you progress, and the useful mouse-over tooltips explaining the towers. My only minor gripe was that clicking the trash took too much precision, their small size in combination with the custom mouse cursor made it sometimes take multiple clicks to collect. Minor issue aside this is an awesome submission. Amazing job!

Aww, what a gem this one was! Next time, I'll make sure my glass bottles get thrown directly into the ocean so those coral reefs can get +10 energy ❤. (just kidding)

Seriously though, this has a great message, and the game itself is legitimately fun! I'm impressed that you guys made all these models, that's quite a lot!

I did have a game-abusing moment occur that I leveraged to win after I got utterly annihilated during wave 4. One of the minions got stuck in the main base and wasn't moving, and my only tower was an urchin that couldn't hit it. I decided to let the minion sit there while I farmed trash for a while, giving me the resources I needed to go into Wave 5. On the one hand, I shouldn't have been able to do that, and on the other hand, I felt like I needed to.

But gosh, for a game jam game, this is very impressive work! Loved all the little story moments between each wave, and while there are some game design tweaks I'd consider, I think overall you did a wonderful job!! :)

Fun and looks great. I was able to beat the game but most my towers get destroyed. I need to rebuild most of them every wave until the very last wave. So I was hoping people would throw more trash into the ocean so I will have more currency to buy towers.

I like the way for your resource gathering and that the garbage after some time sinks into the ground. It's a bit difficult to get where to click on the bottles though (or rather which part of the cursor is the trigger point).

And it seemed that when they start sinking they're not clickable anymore. This could need some extra feedback.

I liked that they got announced through their shadow.

After the big bag arrived the performance tanked quite a lot, though...

Yeah, we were happy it ran in browser at all, but you need a beefy pc xD

The middle top end of the coral is the hotspot of the cursor.

Really well made, inspired, tower defense! Beautiful theme, got all the way through. Fun variety in the "towers" and cute story going on between waves. Cool variety overall. Great design to keep us picking up trash to get reef power, keeps us occupied while the coral reef is doing its thing. Nice visuals, felt like underwater, cute fishes and good looking vfx.

Got some framerate drops sometimes, for example when I spawned my first eel. Hard to deal with for a jam but fyi!

I also agree with the comments below that I definitely clicked the enemies when I thought they were trash. I'd like to add on to that, that I had hard time distinguishing things overall when there were many enemies on a tower and the healthbars layered on top of one another.

But hey the fact that these problems exist is a feat, almost a complete tower defense game made in a week. Love it guys, great job.

Definitely one of the games so far, added to my list of favorites. You guys did amazing as team with what you accomplished in so little time. The game looks beautiful and is fun to play. Some suggestions:

  • the mouse cursor is ambiguous and didn't make it clear where in the cursor the click happens. Took me a while just to figure out how to click the initial trash. I like the idea of a coral as a custom cursor, but maybe have it shaped a little more like regular mouse with a regular click position
  • I would like to be able to skip the initial intro just like you can with the rest of the dialogue
  • As Akaki said, it's hard to tell apart some of the trash pick ups from the trash enemies. My suggestion would be to add a slight glow or outline to the pick ups.
  • Would have liked a little more details about each tower in the tooltips, it was hard o tell how they were different from each other.
  • Maybe an indication of where the waves will come from before they do so you know where to setup your defenses?
  • The sound effects are probably the only thing that doesn't feel very polished. Sounds for attacking, hits etc would go a long way.

Over great game. Grats. Wondering if you'll continue working on it after the jam?

One of the best games of the jam, for sure. And the best tower defense, for sure (at least from those I've played).

I loved almost everything: the visuals, the water shader, the variety of towers and enemies, the progress curve.
The story was also very well constructed.
The fact that you have to collect trashes during the waves makes the player always moving and watching. It kept me active during the whole game, unlike a lot of tower defense where there is a build phase and then a wave pahse where you look at your defenses shooting.

Impressive work, really!

One (very) little downside: some collectable trash look exactly the same as the enemies, which can be confusing sometime.

Really a GREAT game. One of the few that I've rated 5 stars (and I've reviewed more than 200 games for now).

Bravo!

My parents always told me general trash bag isn't real! Thank you for letting me fight that trash
Awesome game!

Bruh, I tried my best. I put the corral and waited for something to happen, once I put it I wasn't able to do anything else. So I just watched how those "fly" things slowly damage the main building. Please give more information on how to play this game.

Read the rules section, or read the story, or hover on the unit tiles. They all explain how it works ^^'

The coral is just a hub that supplies the other units and doesn‘t fight itself.

Click on waste to gather resources for more units.

kk, will try it tomorrow

Didin't quite understood how to kill enemies, really liked the aesthetic and story but lack of sound for getting damaged or placing corals disappointed

We had a lot of technical problems in the end leading to a rushed release with some gamebreaking bugs that hindered tower placement and unlocking, also including no sounds playing, sorry TT

We fixed most of them. It should be playable now till the end. You need to click waste to gather resources. The first tower can‘t fight, it‘s only needed to place other towers. We added that functionality to the main coral you start with to make that clearer.
