I loved it! The design is very beautiful and the gameplay is very well done. Congratulations! ♡♡♡
Excellent animation and great Idea for a game. After a while I just went strait for the end of the levels not sure about the point about the bananas.
Had alot of fun playing this. I did struggle with bouncing off the enemies at level 10 tho as it felt a little too specific in my timings and momentum to get past them. Perhaps I didn't do it the right way but got through it nonetheless.
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you had fun.
There is (almost*) always a slower but easier way to approach obstacles. In that last level, you (almost*) never need to actually bounce across enemies. You can take your time, jump on an enemy without horizontal momentum and turn it into a platform below you, temporize, rinse and repeat.
* I think there's actually one single jump in the last level you can't take slowly.
I really love this entry! Its got fantastic graphics and sound with good level design that plays into the mechanics. I did find the lack of checkpoints to be extremely unforgiving in the later level where you had to bounce on top of enemies with blind jumps; The collision for bouncing on the enemies especially over the first pit caused a lot of deaths where the monkey's fall speed is extremely fast and doesn't seem to be clamped.
I really like that the tutorial is in the form of animated gameboys. The banna collectibles seem quite pointless and detracts from the game as there's no reason to explore these huge levels when a one hit death is extremely penalising.
The monkey's dance is nothing short of amazing!
Overall I could see this being a really great game if further developed.
I *may* have forgot to cap the fall speed 🙈
I don't believe we have blind jumps in any of our levels. We paid particular attention to making sure the player is always able to grow platforms somewhere so they never have to leap into the void (but maybe we missed some?).
We tend to agree, the level design is kind of stuck between two ideas: making you want to collect all the bananas and giving some kind of actual platforming challenge. Both somehow contradict each other and it'd have to be refined a lot to make everything feel more natural in a complete game.
Anyway, thanks for the kind words and constructive feedback!
The game is AWESOME i liked the concept of the game and cute monkey by the way and i liked the tutorial in the game boy
awesome! it totally has the soul of the 90's games. when i found out that you could also create a platform by shooting i couldn't believe it!
I have no words. This game is just studio grade!
The intro with Kid Monkey chasing the enemies was so nostalgic. Perfect!
Really clean backgrounds, very Kirby-esque. Really engaging gameplay - just the right level of progression, meeting new enemies was always a pleasant surprise!
I only have one critique, the platform sprites seem a little blurry to me.
Hey, thanks for the comment! Glad you liked the intro, we spent way too much time on it because we like it a lot too.
Can you be specific about which platforms look blurry?
I've been having a think about this, looking at the screenshots...
I think it's the way you've highlighted the edges (using the lighter grey-blue).
Again, maybe this is just in my eyes! I was really impressed with the game and feel bad for picking such a small element but I think feedback is valuable and a sign you enjoyed the game.
