Interesting core mechanic, but I didn't find myself using them to beat the game.

This is neat for a jam game! It's a little unpolished but I think the main thing that would improve it for me is requiring a more decisive input from the player for some things (such as the menu, which seems to have buttons activated by mouseover rather than a mouse click) and clearer feedback when something happens (such as reaching the door to end the game, which pretty much left me with a blank screen - though I assume I'd collected enough arrows etc. for that to happen). I also think the leaderboard does more harm than good right now: the banner at the top covered most of the UI to begin with, and I'm not sure I was ever in a position to enter a score at the end. Still, an intriguing premise for a game! I'd like to see a version where the opening/closing doors make more of a difference, as you mentioned in one of the comments here.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback.  I am planning on fixing the menu,  it has been an issue that was sited. It is strange that you found the door but didn't appear on the leader board,  it is blank from the menu screen but pops up when you go through the door. I wonder if this is why I only  see 2 name on the board? The banner was for you to sign in so maybe if you didn't sign or close it,  was why the leader board failed?

Ah - it might have been that I haven't signed in or connected to Liluo from itch? I'm currently logged in over there and have been able to manually enter a name to other games, but I'm afraid I probably can't offer any further help: it's not a feature of GDevelop I've used myself (though having seen some of the entries for this jam, I'm very tempted to work it into my next game!).

Nice and simple, keep it up!

The idea s cute. I am a little confused at what shooting the hearts does, but I like the added elements that don't just make this a find the exit platformer.

Developer

Shooting the Hearts opens and or closes them.  It was to be a much bigger part of them game as I had plans to make big mazes with more areas you could only get to thru the hearts.  Sadly, that ran into an issue with randomizing the external layout maps.  I will be expanding the use of hearts after the Jam.

Okay, that makes sense. That would be very fun. It's an idea you can expand on even more, too. Good work!

Neat idea and I liked the look and style of it. One big issue I had was if I held down the shoot key by accident my game crashed as it couldn't handle the arrows. It'd also be nice to control which way the arrows went, but I imagine you have a list of ideas along those lines already. Really good concept though hope to see you keep it up.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback.  The aiming of the arrows is the one bug that you are the first to bring up. I thought I would hear about it and the fact the bow does not change direction with the character before this.  I had not had it crash yet but it is in the plans to fix.

The vibe and aesthetic is very nice! Very calm!

I jumped off the ledge and entered a bottomless pit! I'd fix that if I were remaking this!

Which games inspired this?

Check out my entry for something more fast paced! :)

Developer

thought I made a big enough deathbox,  I fix it after judging is over thanks for the feedback

This game is cute!  I love the color-scheme, with the bright "rainbow-sherbet" look.  The maze/level design was really good too.  I can really see this expanding into a full-blown game, with some really challenging obstacles and enemies.

Great loading screen! I know someone already gave you some feedback below, and they mostly covered what I was going to point out. The timer and the shaky camera are the two things that stand out to me the most. I also suggest watching the tutorials that Gdevelop provides on their youtube channel and also ones that fans make as well! Thats what I constantly did every time I ran into an issue. Best of luck going forward!

think I  forgot  lerp to smooth the camera,  I will have to wait for the judging to fix, thanks for the feedback.
