I had a lot of fun completing your game! The level design is excellent, I was never stuck for too long but still had to think to solve some of the puzzles. I appreciate that you can take your time and that there is no quick thinking involved, you can just stop your character or the enemies if you want to plan properly. Great use of the assets too!
Very solid entry!
Appreciate your feedback! 🤗
very cute game but i could not figure out some levels p.s pls play my game https://coolcodedude.itch.io/a-light-in-the-dark ratings are greatly appreciated
Thanks! Your game is dope. Could specify which level was too hard for you?
the one with like 3 or 4 moving platform
Ah, yeah, that one is a bit hard!
loved the colour pallet u used on this. Pixel art was nice too. Need abit more of a tutorial perhaps but fun all the same.
Oh, first levels were like tutorials. At what point you felt confused? Because I also heard that people are not getting right away that you can stop the character
Ooh, this was really fun! The puzzles were well thought-out. I especially liked the final level.
The paths of the chain platforms could be better telegraphed. While it was usually obvious where they would stop and start, it was less obvious when there were four of them with slightly different mechanics.
The impression I get from the types of movement bugs I experienced (bouncing off ledges, moonwalking, falling into a wall and starting to walk despite not being active, bouncing off of the sides of chain platforms, inconsistent spring height, movement speed) is that there seem to be a lot of "physics" getting in the way of the movement. That's only a guess — I don't know how this was programmed — but it feels like the movement and collisions need to be much simpler.
The cover image is great. It has a very old-school video game box vibe, especially in how nonrepresentational it is.
Great work!
Yes, I added physics behaviour in many objects, but I probably shouldn't have done that and handle it in simple collision check. It is a valid remark, thank you!
Regarding the cover - I agree, the artist did awesome job and their info is in description. Actually, you may commission them too if you would ever need help ☺️
One of the best games in this game jam, despite the bugs !
The little character often does a moonwalk, though... XD
Can't blame them for wanting to be like a Michael J. Jackson :D Thank you for the kind words!
Very nice game! I like how you control the player character, the enemies, and the various environments throughout the game!
Yeah-yeah, that's what I wanted to do. I would probably tweak a few things to have even better feeling! But I am glad people are still liking it!
Great game! Fits the theme well.
Thanks! It is plain simple, but yeah, does the job :D
What a cute little character and fun little game! This was relaxing and fun to play
Appreciate the kind words!
Great game! I like the level design a lot.
Thaanks! Fun fact: Level 7 can be finished with only one action.
I like fun facts!
Beautiful game and a cute little fella. I like the idea, good learning curve from level to level, fun to play! Music loops for the levels and the ending might be a bit too short (I made a very short music loop myself for my game so who am I to judge lol). Fella going wild when hit by a lift made me die a few times, but it wasn't a major issue.
Well, we not to judge here - we to provide the feedback, so thanks, I agree, especially for ending, I felt it myself, but unfortunately couldn't find something longer with the same vibes. And, yes, unfortunately the behavior of the character sometimes breaks :<
It even has Ending!
Yeah! The happy one! Didn't want to disappoint players :D
Very nice, well presented game! The only thing I wish I had was a switch to turn the character around.
If you have a chance I'd really appreciate you playing and rating my entry as well :)
Yeah, but turning the character around would screw the whole idea behind the game, IMHO! On the other hand, you probably were tedious when you had to wait for a character just bounce off the wall to change direction, so maybe If I would make better levels - it would not be so noticeable. Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, I thought of that. Like I know you need to preserve the core mechanics of the game, but it can feel very punishing for the player when you accidentally get turned around and have to start the level over when the goal is just right behind you. But I'm sure there's a good solution. Still really enjoyed the game. Very charming and fun!
What a cute game!
What a lovely comment! Thank you!
What I liked the most: Pixelart and the layout of the dungeon controls.
What I didn't like: Short music looping. I thought there would be a pretty redheaded girl to control in the game :P
I found two bugs. In the first fall of the phase with creatures that fly appear, in the fall, the player walked to the left, however, his sprite remained to the right. Pausing and starting his movement, he went to the right.
The second bug, I suspect is a problem I had with my game. On the springs, I couldn't get the character to reach height at all, I was stuck there. My game, for some strange reason, also got jump-heavy suddenly and only on my computer (even without any code changes). Did you use platform behavior?
Well, YOU are a pretty redheaded girl :D I mean, if you want to, because, I guess you understood that redheaded girl from cover represents the player themselves! But I feel your disappointment. Maybe, if I decide to continue working on a game, I will do some cutscenes where she will guide a player a bit and compensate?
Yeah, for full version (if there will be), I would definitely do more tracks (by do, I mean I would probably hire the same artist to write one more track).
And regarding the bugs
1) Yes, it is true. Unfortunately, I didn't have the energy and time to fix it completely, so for now, I can only propose to do the hack you did and think about it as part of the narrative - character is angry with you managing them, so sometimes, they behave badly :D
2) It is interesting because level 7 can be passed with only one toggle :) But no, I did use platform behavior, I was just applying force. I can share the source code if you are interested.
Thanks for the very great feedback!
lol yes, but I noticed that the redhead was the player afterwards, anyway, it was just a joke :)
It's not necessary to pass the source code, it's not just the platform behavior that's causing problems here, other things are inexplicably unstable, but normally the problem is in a situation of constant addition per frame. I feel like this is going to give me a lot of headache. Good luck with the Jam results!
I loved! Very, very good game, with nice art, where everything fits. The game design was excelent too. I manage to finish with 2 deaths, and taking 8 diamonds.
Could you try my game too? I would really apreciate it.

Oh, I suppose you did not find the "hidden" one? Thank you for completely finishing my game! It means a lot!
I tried, you game is great too!
Cute little multi-tasker type puzzle game. I enjoyed it!
Thank you ^_^
Love the graphics and the concept. Well done :)
Appreciated!
good work, very well implemented, show work, please rate my game as well
Thank u! I will!
Love the art style and the gameplay is fun. Good Job
I thank you for the kind words and for checking out the game!
The minimalist graphics are cute. Sounds and music are also minimalistic, but fit perfectly. The game is fun. I don't know if it's a bug or intentionally made to have an unlimited number of lives. Nice work.
Oh, yeah, that's intentional. It is more about the journey, you know (but if you fail too much there will be F on your final screen, so I kind of did both here :D)
Thanks for checking out the game!
