Welcome to round 5

Round 5 is the classic remake round. I've chosen a game from the video game graveyard that was Atari in the 1980s and it's now your job to recreate it in your own style.

What do I need to make?

You need to remake the game Leaper by Bug Byte. The game is a simple 1 screen arcade style 'cross road / frogger' type of game. You need to get your character to the top of the screen 6 times to light up the letters from the title 'LEAPER' jump through the gaps and avoid enemies and falling back as this will deplete your energy bar.

You don't need to make an exact clone, so put your own spin on it. Just make sure the essence of the game is still evident.

Who will be judging?

The community judging will determine the ranking but rankings won't determine who qualifies for round 6. Instead you'll be randomly paired with another dev and whoever ranks the highest will progress.

How many Devs will qualify?

At the end round 5 13 devs plus 1 wildcard will progress. In the event that 2 competing devs tie, both will qualify for round 6.

How should I judge the games?

Judge the entries on the overall polish of the game, but also score higher for unique and well thought out features.

The judging questions will be:

1. How polished was the remake of Leaper (Primary)
2. Art and Visuals
3. Sound and Music
4. Technical Implementation
