I think you did a great job incorporating Leaper elements into your game to kind of add an extra layer of gameplay. Reminds me of some of those alternate levels in Donkey Kong Country. I did see the black screen from time to time.

It took me about ten tries to beat the game. It was a little frustrating but a lot of fun. Great work!

Great to see the Lasso again! It makes me look back at how everything started!

Nice usage  of the screen wrap mechanics and the climb towards the letters. The platforms were missing though, but I am not quite sure if that should impact rating.

Great work! I always fumble around the controls each time, hehe

This was a lot of fun as always! I really enjoy the mechanics, and it's fun figuring out each new level. In the third level when I finally managed to hit the swing as the ground exploded under me it was very satisfying :)

The bad - I don't see much of the essence of Leaper so doesn't feel like a remake to me. As you mentioned in comments below, there is still some elements that you chose from the original like the wrap screen and climbing higher so there is still something there

The good - Really like the game, great to see Lasso again and love what you added to it. It's a lot of fun to play and love everything about it. It's so professionally put together and a real joy to play

It's pretty good but has a lot of bugs, like for example my screen would randomly just black out and  I'd have to reload the page, The level design was okay, the mechanics were pretty cool, but it doesn't exactly feel like leaper. Still, it's pretty fun.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Any idea what caused the blackouts? What browser did you use? I tested a few different times in Chrome without trouble, but that’s far from comprehensive testing. Any chance you have footage?

I was a little burned out on ‘80s remakes after redoing Asteroids last round, so I tried to capture the spirit of climbing higher and higher and using screen wrap movement. I knew it was a risky choice, but I missed working on Lasso and decided to go for it.

Thanks again for the feedback. Let me know if you have any idea what might have triggered the issue.

I’m not completely sure, but I think it was when the player dies and loses all their lives.

Developer

Thanks! I’ll have to look into it. My buddy said that happened to him once. Then he lost all his lives on three different levels and couldn’t recreate it.

Maybe the game thought you needed to be in auto-hard mode without continues!

he became white forever... now he lasso in the eternal desert sun, finally free...

Developer

Thank you for the poetic bug description! Made it sting less. Was it during a normal lasso throw or an auto-aim throw? I'm guessing auto-aim since that's new and I didn't get to fully test the scenarios you might find yourself in.

I gotta admit i was button-mashing.... so your theory is entirely possible!

Love a good button mash!
