Hello! Very interesting take on the theme. There are quite a few flaws, however, that hold this game back a bit. First off, player feedback. There's not enough feedback when the inspector sees you/your slime/a banana peel. I didn't even realize the banana peels were lowering my score, because it wasn't obvious to me. It sounds stupid to you since you literally know the game inside and out, but the player is stupid, so you have to be very clear about what's happening, when, and why. It would be like a stealth game where you don't get told when you're spotted. Secondly, the mechanics weren't very well explained. I was very confused about what the inspector could see, which is why I think this game could benefit a lot from a view cone for the inspector. That by itself would make the game a lot more fun, simply because the game is more transparent about what's actually happening. Without that, it's kind of like a platformer where you can't see the platforms. Obviously that's an exaggeration, but you get what I mean. A few more issues I have is that the slime takes too long to clean, and the mop's range is a bit short. Aside from all of that, the art and sound design were very nice. It sounds like I hated your game, but it was pretty good. I just want to give you real criticism instead of trying to butter you up and make you feel good.

Fun take on the theme! The rules were simple enough clean your trail and throw away bananas. I think making it easier to clean up behind you and maybe giving you a head start on the inspector would be great additions. Good game. :)

What a crazy game!

Such a strange premise, and such beautiful art!

The slime artwork was so cool, I filled the floors with it instead of cleaning them hehe!

Can I ask how you programmed the slime to appear and the arrows to show on the path?  I suppose its grid-based and you cover the tiles? (its Godot, right?)

Well done! Going to play some more to see if I can figure it out.

PS: Couldn't seem to find the Duality theme. Is it the: Snail-Brush?

Thanks for the nice comment! ^^

The slime is created when the character moves and is positioned at the characters location. It is a sprite with the same size as the floor tiles (64x64).

The 'Duality' is the irony that you play as a cleaner, but you also make the place dirty with your slime. It's a bit out there but it is what I came up with  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey OrangeIsNotAColor

Got a negative score on the end HAHA, the game was fun though but wasn't able to clean up the slime, the reason I got a negative score there.

Cheers!!!

I really appreciate this original idea ! I think it might be a very promising content if some reworks go into it. It might get too repetitive real quick. But I really enjoyed the art and the concept nonetheless ! Cheers :)

Very nice looking game. It just gets a little annoying to clean the slime behind you all the time, it also takes quite long to do. Nice take on duality though :D

Dislike

  • Slime takes to long to clean

Just too much slime, comes too fast, takes too long to clean. Got me pissed too fast .

Are maybe makes it a bit more enjoyable and rewarding to clean up

I liked the core idea though

After reading the comments and tried several times I started to understand the game a little. Great idea it feels very original!  I think maybe you can mark the slime and banana somehow(like change color or add a frame) when it is seen by the inspector to help the player understand what the score gets minus from. And maybe make it into small levels to let player practice(since the mechanic need some time to understand), but due to the time limit of the jam, I think this is really a good game!

Really awesome design and idea! The negative score made me feel kind of bad though :D.

Really cute and really loved the concept! Takes a while to clean up the slime you leave behind, but I guess that's intentional haha. Maybe starting the score at 100 instead of 0 would make that part feel better but that's a very minor thing.

It took me some time, But then I in the end got a score of -22

Nice litle game :D

(Non-developer here) Game was fun, but I never knew how the inspector actually saw, so I think I cleaned up way too much of my own slime. Some music would be nice, but otherwise, solid game c: 4/5

is there a way for me to not get to huge minuses for no reason though?

game is really fun but frustrating cause i am always in -15 after the first stage

Thanks for the comment!

If the 'Inspector' "sees" any slime or banana-peals you will get minus-points. By using clever positioning and by cleaning up the slime after oneself, it is possible to avoid getting any minus-points at all, but it requires training.

There are only minus-points in the game, so getting a negative score is the default.

This is my first real game-jam, so the UX might be a bit wonky 🙃 but thanks for the feedback! It is true that it might feel like you are failing if you get a negative score, I'll have it in mind for the future ^^
