I really like the idea behind this. It just needs polish and attention. The difficulty spike in level 2 and beyond is too sharp. You need to ease people in to this. Would consider making the ability to catch the bullet easier too as the hitbox feels a little small.
Other than that this feels like one of those little brain killers which do well. Nice.
Thank you! Difficulty is deriving from a collider issue, so it will be easy to tune down once the jam is over :D.
So this was made by a one person team in a week, well done on that! I liked the graphics, choice of music and colors. They all fit with each other very well. I couldn't get past the first level, however. I couldn't catch the bullet. I think you may want to check that part again and lower the difficulty. I like the one bullet dynamic. Nice idea!
Cool idea! Using your life as your only bullet is interesting for sure. Haven't done a single level on the first try, and my goodness, the last level was tricky for sure. You hammered down the Carpe Diem theme a biiiiiit to much for my liking (it was annoying to see it pop up constantly).
The ricochet wasn't glitchy and felt believable and predictable, so the core mechanic felt solid. Even if you retry each level a bunch of time, the game feels a bit short though. I love the sense of depth that the skybox and the glowing cubes give, making the levels feel a lot larger than they really are.
Not much to say about music - it worked for me, but nothing groundbreaking. The sound effect of the bullet time-out was very fitting though.
Congrats on pulling this off on your own ^^
Thank you, very valuable feedback! With the last level I wanted to finish with a tension-filled moment... perhaps there was a bit too much tension :D
Very fun game, could really feel the portal inspiration. Could use a reset button as it can take a bit of time to die, but it's very satisfying to pass levels!
Congrats, great game. 1 person team makes this even more impressive.
<3
Brilliant idea on this one! Had fun playing it!
Done by one single man in so short time? Amazing!
Well done mate keep rocking this jam! ;)
Congratulations for the game!! It's very impressive you made it all by yourself in 1 week, veeery goood job!! :D
Thanks! There was so much I wanted to add!
very fun and innovative idea. I have some porta vibes from this game and I love it. With some polishing and by adding more content ( abilities, dash, etc.) it could become very interesting.
As of now I think the gravity is weird and sometimes it takes too long for you to die even if you see there is no way for you to catch the bullet, but congrats on this first build
Cheers! Portal and Super Hot are main inspirations for this :) Dash ability sounds really interesting!
I had fun :) and the only comments I have I think have been covered in the previous comments haha.. For me I think the gravity is too weak and the bullet is a little fast.. and some times when I mess a puzzle up I know I'm gonna lose anyway so if there was a reset button that would make it easier to restart!
Thanks for the great game! I can see it becoming a full length game build on this mechanic alone! 😄 Good luck!
Glad you had fun! Thanks for the comment :D Fun fact: player collider was even smaller originally haha
I can't add a lot to previous comments, just voting up that bullet is very difficult to catch which is annoying. Checkpoint system imho should work after you catch your bullet because otherwise personally (and i think many others) i'm losing motivation to play because i have to repeat same things again and again. Also i think would be better to not have so low gravity because sometimes i wanted to catch bullet midair and this way i have like only one try to do jump right... Either way very original idea, audio (except arlarm sound) and visuals (that only gun shadow tho :) ) are really good, nice game overall!
Thanks! Checkpoint system sounds great and restart button will definitely make it to the next update :D
I state that I love shooter games, and this one gave me a good feeling about shooting at things! The bullet-life mechanic is really interesting and well done, the possibility to “grab” the bullet blowed my mind. GGWP
Here are some notes:
In first person it’s difficult to understand how big is my trigger capsule, for me it was a bit hard to grab the running bullet. Maybe you can solve this with a grace mechanic like automatically attract the bullet in a certain range (bigger than ch. trigger).
Moreover I would also add a “reset level” key, instead of waiting the bullet death, knowing already that I have failed.
[a little bug report] If I’m in the “level completed” screen, I think that the scene continues to run, so if I don’t rapidly click the spacebar, the “you’re dead” screen appears.
I'm glad you liked it! I'd like keep developing this idea into a fully fledged puzzle FPS in the future, I think there is potential for interesting gameplay.
I love the magnetism idea, it would make the game more accessible. And reset key is definitely in order for future iterations! :)
This game really piqued my interest! The idea is brilliant, and although I hate FPS games, I found myself trying this repeatedly! The alarm sound is a bit annoying, but the bgm is very nice! The fact that this game has been done by only one person is astonishing, well done!
If I really have to point some flaws out, I’d say: never put a HARD quit on the escape button, I have the bad habit of hitting it unconsciously whenever I’m testing out different approaches to a puzzle to reset the level as soon as possible.(and a think a lot of players do as well)
As a side note, I didn’t get past level 3, where the ricocheting bullet is almost unpredictable and most times it will bounce off the targets in a way that doesn’t even get to the third one (so, unless you know precisely where you are and in which way you shot in the previous attempt, you’re gonna be stuck there forever), where the game got a bit frustrating.
And I’d say that you should add the RUN function on every direction possible, not only on forward, because you’re tempted to look at the target while running to keep track of the bullet, and you can’t reach it if you don’t run straight.
Good job overall!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback!
Oddly enough, I also unconsciously hit the ESC button in the hope of speeding up game sequences :p . Time was limited and I cut a few corners here and there, but I'll surely address this in the future!
