Does your game include art/sound packs or pre-prepared code?
Yes
If yes, please provide the source of the packs used
A handful of sound effects are from my existing library. Code is based upon a YouTube tutorial as a starting point: https://youtu.be/cIeWhztKyAg All music and visual art was created from scratch during the jam.
Please provide a link to a 30 seconds gameplay video of your game

Note: Currently I only have a Mac. Only watched the gameplay video.
This game has some "volume" sound effects. They jump out of the speaker! Wow! Does fit well. I like the different music loops for the different parts. The sound effects dominate and unfortunately I can't hear/ enjoy the music very much.
I like the graphics with the stylised text bubbles.
Beautiful artwork. Really interesting game. I loved the overall feel and all that was missing for me was a little custom particle effects. Check out BlackThornProd on YouTube for some great tutorials on that.
Here you go!
I like how abstract the game is such as attempting to shoot down what's weighing on your mind like "self-doubt", "ignorance", or even "competition". It's a unique idea and it's very simple and easy to pick and play.
Thanks!
Did I just spam the bullets while circling around in the middle? hahahaha. This is a nice game but would love to see more of it like limited bullets forcing me to move around. Would love to see some score/points to make it more interesting for me to play non-stop. Good job! :)
Thanks! I probably will add these features once the jam rating and judging period is over. I also wanted the level three blunderbuss to have a scatter shot, and some other changes too.
Positives: good vibes. Good sense of demographic.
Negatives:
- spelled competition 'compotition'
- the game starts on the left edge, but restarts in the center (just odd)
- restarts on death don't get rid of existing 'asteroids' which results in spawnkills on the player.
Oh no, how ombarrassing!!! (I also specifically googled how to spell pursuing only to write persuing in the rush to submit on time).
The player is invulnerable for tgree seconds on respawn. I don't communicate this well (or at all) but it should give you some time to move out of the way before getting killed.
I'll address both of these issues in the polish version today. Thanks for pointing them out!!
Also, could you check that your rating has saved? I'm missing one compared to the number of comments. Thanks a bunch!
I am likely to put off rating till the last minute and/or rate fewer games than I comment on and play.
I have been telling myself that I am grading on a curve so I need to soak in all of the data, but if I am completely honest, the numerical rating process is just not something I like to do with my time.
Fair enough. Ratings help the teams be rewarded for where they put in their efforts though, so I'd encourage you to at least rate the games where you are impressed by specific aspects of the games.
I was actually thinking about this quite a bit this morning... like what specifically bothers me about assigning numerical values to work? I don't think we should go around assigning numbers to works of art or human beings.
It's like that old saying... "there's lies, damned lies, and statistics." It would be nice if everyone gets at least 10 ratings so they have a value of n large enough to be statistically significant... but it sort of doesn't matter.
I'll try and get you a rating soon, because I can see its something that's important to you. I sincerely hope that it is a useful reward signal.
The concept is really cool but I struggled with the controls. Otherwise the game as a really cool atmosphere. I loved the art and the sounds.
Thanks for the kind words. Any suggestions for improving the controls? I guess that Asteroids-style controls aren't for everyone, but is there anything specific you would like to be changed?
I like how you have made it so the things we are leaving behind are the negative I think this sends a really positive message. Well done and thank you for this game :)
Thanks for noticing! Originally, you were going to need to abandon your dreams to survive, but I felt that gave the wrong message. I'm more optimistic than that!
Can you check that the rating saved? I'm missing one. Thanks a bunch!
Oh, I like your artstyle and sound design. That little shmuck when brain hits screen border - such a pretty touch. This is cool, I had great time playing
At one moment one of the balls hit a lightbulb in the centre and it started slowly rotating around. Because of the text aligment I think it could be a nice effect for it to actually rotate
Nice job and good luck in the future:))
P.S. Cant forget mentioning that your game page is very informative and you definitely put some thought in it. Maybe a web build could be added, so more people would try to play
I'd love to do a web build, but I used Wwise, so i can't.
Can you check that the rating saved? I'm missing one. Thanks a bunch!
Yep, it is saved:)
Thanks for checking!!
If it's not broke why fix it? I enjoyed playing this and the message came across loud and clear. Everything work as intended and was well put together. If I had to give feedback it would be that the brain gun combo could have been a little smaller on screen. It was pretty hard to avoid the doubts! Good work.
This was fun! It's a simple game in premise, what with it being a "shoot at things so they don't hit something you're trying to protect" defender style deal, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a blast- no pun intended. The art style was charming, the background music was simple but not repetitive, and I enjoyed the sense of progression in the guns. I noticed that because of how the physics and enemies worked, though, it was easier to die so I was started in the center than ricochet everywhere, as sitting in the center let me defend better.
I also would have loved to have seen more variety in the bad thoughts, but given the short timeframe we had to work, I understand why there weren't more.
Great job!
There should be a different set of bad thoughts/enemies/asteroids per level. I'll have a look at fixing that bug during the polish phase. Thanks for the feedback :)
