Visually brilliant! The little robots especially were fab and had a lot of character for me (graphics and audio-wise). The opening narrative was really excellent, amazing how a great intro really helps you settle into the game! Music felt just right and gave a nice amount of energy to the experience, and main menu music was ace too. I had a bit of trouble using the grappling hook, felt like I couldn't move towards the point I'd grappled as I was expecting, but managed to make things work by sort of swinging around where I wanted to go! A few other things that other people have mentioned, but I'm sure they're straightforward enough to fix :D Great job, and can't wait for that opening cinematic!

The voice acting was my favorite part of this entry: the beginning cutscene was really well voiced, and I loved the little robots' "gimme that" when they barreled against you to steal from you. The audio suited the game, as well. I would suggest in the cutscene that you add subtitles, and maybe a menu that you can open up in game to show you the controls again, as I had trouble remembering everything off the top of my head once the game started. It's probably also my computer, but the game lagged pretty heavily when I was playing, so it felt a bit disorienting at times. Like I said, though, it's likely just an issue with my computer!
Other than that, I really liked the design of the level. The robots were cute nuisances to deal with, and it wasn't hard to take my things back from them when they rushed in for the steal. The grappling hook took me a second to get used to, but once I did I had fun swinging around from the roof and onto platforms.
Good work!

This is a great entry. Lots of super solid work. The art style is nice, I love the audio. The actual game loop felt a bit clunky but that is something that can be refined over time. The excellent voice acting was actually really let down by the black screen, something, anything could have been shown on screen to support it. A blinking dot would have done but the black screen felt bad. It's hard when the jam means things are left out and I feel that with mine, but because this was the first thing we meet it set the tone incorrectly for the attention and effort that was so obviously put into everything else.

Thanks for the feedback! I understand what you mean with the black screen, so we are actually going to be putting a cutscene instead of the black screen for the polishing round.

Good game! The intro cutscene's audio work was very clean and nicely done. However for repeat playthroughs, there's no way to check the controls except for the end of that cutscene again, and it would be good to have a way to skip the cutscene for the less patient or those who want to get back to the game quicker.

Minor bugs below

  • There's a problem with the settings - Music and SFX don't actually adjust
  • Jumping and Retracting sounds can be spammed even when they don't work, like spamming jump after double jumping.
  • In the controls, there's never an explaination on swapping to the EMP grenade, it's the 2 button, yeah, but still, it was never mentioned.
  • The grenade also works differently than I expected, rather than a large explosion, I have to lob the thing directly onto the drones, and it doesn't throw too well.
  • Gathering above 20 or so cores, the UI becomes squished
  • Deposit bin was missed the first time around, whilst neon arrows pointed to it and it had a sign, I think it generally blended into the enviroment too much.

You're already polishing gravity and movement, so I won't say it again, the floatiness makes things feel less responsive, even if it matches the moon's atmosphere or so, it'd be nice if it was increased across the board in general. I got used to the grappling, but I can describe it as a bit unituitive, such as it's best to shoot directly up instead of a 45 degree angle, jumping to grapple almost never works at that angle as you'll fall to the ground and grappling gets canceled.

It's concept of gameplay was quite interesting and fun to experience as well. The grappling, once I was used to it, was quite fun to use! (The above are images because there was apparently a server error at the time and I couldn't post, so I can't edit it XD) It was fun, but there are a few small bugs here and there. Great job on the game!

Great fun! It was a bit floaty, but I had a jet pack and grappling hook on the moon. So it was a nice floaty!

Like others said, the starting sequence something being on the screen would be nice!

The counter in the bottom left doesn't make sense to me. I expected it to show how many are left, but like... it said I was 20/0 but still lost. So I think it doesn't count them if the robots are holding them?

I lost cause I couldn't find the last ones cause the robots ran off with them. So a way to find the robots holding them would be nice.

But overall really good quality game!

Hey, first of all, cool idea! Even though the movement was quite floaty (especially with some weird effect that when I was grappling something on the ground I was ending up levitating near the ceiling) - it has a charm to it with feeling less gravity.

I did hear the initial sequence, but must admit that it feels a bit long. Even though the narrative was good, it did take some time before starting the game. Maybe having it play in the backround would be better (as in, you can already move around)

Some polishing could definitely make this game really fun :)

Hi Aonee! Thanks for playing the game and taking the time to give some feedback! The amount of gravity is something we are actively working on this week as well as making the grapple pull the character, I think it will alleviate the feeling of floatyness when you can just grapple around as well!

As for the initial sequence, i hear you, i agree to some degree but like i was saying with a previous comment, we inted to do a cutscene which will hopefully make the black screen feel not as long! I do like the idea of some of the dialogue happening when your in game! I will bring this to the team and maybe try and incorporate some of the last few seconds of the dialogue into the in game when the player has control!

Thanks again for the feedback!

Once I got the hang of it it was very fun, but I had to push myself through the beginning tho. The giant black screen intro with audio made me think the game was broken, and restart a couple of times… and no tutorial or controls made me feel lost for a while. But when this beginning is fixed, it’ll be a great game!

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for the input! The black screen is eventually gonna be a cutscene we do this week!

The games fun but t feels a little sickly moving around, i get quite motion sick especially going up the stairs and was a little confused where i was supposed to deposit and the gravity was a little annoying, it felt like it took a while to fall it felt a little too floaty, good game overall though :)

Developer

Yeah i think there are to be some tweaks in terms of movement and gravity potentially and maybe we could make the deposit bin a little easier to see, maybe it glows? Thanks for the feedback! the team will try and smooth out mechanics and polish up the game as much as possible for this week! hope you come back and give it another try once its been polished!

Unfortunately, the game results in a permanent black screen once play is pressed :(

Developer

do you have audio connected? there is an introduction sequence that is audio only. After this the game begins.

Submitted

Yep, but the game probably froze. So now I know it is my PC's fault.

Developer

Sorry you were having trouble Perdons22:( Thats strange! Did you hear any audio during that black screen at any point? The black screen might have actually been our "Cutscene" where through audio, the story is told to the player. After about a min and a half or so the instructions pop up on screen and you are loaded into the level. Did you download your build for windows or Mac? I have tested it out on Windows and it worked for me but if its not working for you i appreciate the feedback and would like to know a bit more of your situation!

Developer

I think the problem is you might have muted the game, and then the cut scene played for 1 minand 40 sec, and during that time you might have thought the game was broken
