do you have two submissions of the same game?

Developer(+1)

No just this submission. I can't see a duplicate anywhere, where have you seen two?

Submitted

I can't find the other one now , maybe i was wrong

I really liked the ambience of this game! It really got me into the mood of scouring this cursed, ancient tomb for treasure, and I wound up bracing myself whenever I opened anything in case I needed to book it. It was a bit difficult for me to play, though, as while it might be my computer, the game lagged often for me. This made running or reacting to mummies or navigating a bit difficult, but again, that might just be an issue with my computer rather than anything else.

Developer

Hey thanks for playing and it's great that you enjoyed the ambience, we were going for a dark horror like vibe :) - Did you play the TombDescent download or the TombDescent_PolishPass one? - The latter has much better performance and a lot of bug fixes :)

Good game, the graphics are really great, dynamic lighting and 3D models at the level of a good indie game in steam. Got the atmosphere perfectly.  Nice work.

Developer

Thank you :)

The aesthetic and the atmosphere are great. The gameplay, though, requires some polishing to be immediately clear and fully entertaining. Hope to see some updates soon!

Developer(+1)

Hey, glad you like the aesthetic and atmosphere as we put a lot of time into that side of things. We plan to add more features and improve the game after the judging period is finished. Do you have any recommendations on what needs to be made clearer? - There are tutorial messages in the first room that explain most of the mechanics.

Submitted (1 edit)

Tutorial messages are nice, but players tend to forget them, especially if the actions you introduce them to are performed sporadically. So I would refresh players' minds from time to time, for example suggesting to them the keys to press whenever they are near an interaction. The final decision is up to you, though, but I am really interested in where you will bring the game ;)

Developer(+1)

There should be some pop-up text that appears with the key to press when you get near an interactable. I will check that there are not any bugs with it in case it didn't appear. Thank you for your message though, we will definitely be doing more with the game idea in the future.

Cool game, I enjoyed the feeling of exploring a spooky tomb while looking out for the mummy.

As people mentioned before, I noticed that the torches fire effect caused some text to dissapear which was making it hard to read. My laptop also heated up quite a bit while playing it. Another thing I noticed is that it is possible to open wrong doors with the key, I guess it can be used several times until getting to the correct door.

Still a very nice game regardless of those issues.

Developer

Hey, thank you for your comment :)

Currently Steve has fixed the torch/text rendering issue, and now is working on improving the performance, we will be uploading the new build soon.

The key can open any door, but you need to figure out which one is the correct door by finding a plaque within the level (or if you choose incorrectly you can break the door, but this is not without consequences ;) )

Hello guys, I really enjoyed the visual part of the game (low bow to 3D artist) atmosphere and level design.  I'm sure you've put much effort on that,  god job, you nailed it) and I agree with previous comment, it was heavy for my laptop too. Also torch and  hammer are too big and close in my opinion. Btw are you going to add any music to game?

Developer

Hey, I'm glad to hear that you like the visuals, I think Oliwia did an amazing job with the 3d models/textures in the time limit. I could look into the held items sizes/placement during polish. In terms of music we had only thought to add a basic background soundscape as neither of us are very experienced when it comes to music, I think it works ok currently but we could look at improving it when we do more with the game.

the game really grabbed my attention at first sight
it's a simple game, not much gameplay, and challenges there, but the game is so heavy on my laptop and it's shouldn't be, just read a bit about optimization and you will be good.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I will be optimising it along with fixing some bugs this week, it was the first time I've used Unity's HDRP so I didn't get a lot of time to look into optimisation. Our original idea was to procedurally generate the levels so we would need to find a way to handle the lighting without losing atmosphere. Could use baked lighting if the levels will be static though, again something I will look into this week.

Nice work

And good luck with the polishing

Good use of theme! Interesting game. Its a simple and straighforward game, but overall good effort :)

Submitted(+2)

It's a decent game for sure and I absolutely love the style of it. One big distraction was the rendering for the hand torch, some invisible aura made in game text disappear so it was hard to read some stuff while too close to it. Great job though!

Developer(+1)

Yeah the particle opacity behaves weirdly on the torch as I set the held items to always render in front of everything else to prevent them clipping through walls when you get too close, didn't have time to look into a solution for this but I will see if I can fix it this week. Thank you for playing and the feedback! :)
