Only one dimension and other bizarre interpretations of the theme?

For my project I ended up making a 1D game based on the idea of a number line, where all the action takes place on a single axis (here's a link if you want to try it: https://quid314.itch.io/number-line-runner) Part of the idea came from seeing animations of multiplication and division being represented by a number line stretching and compressing, but I mostly figured no one else would think to limit their game like that.

Course I was wrong and there were definitely people who did that, so if anyone sees this and made or played other one dimensional games, let me know, I'd love to see how other people got around that limitation. I'd also just like to hear about unique or limiting "only one" games in general, so feel free to share those too if you don't know any that went with one dimensions specifically.

FINALLY

The most suitable place to post my game 😂

Technically....I'm kind of cheating the theme here but my game is about "only one" pair of platforms.

It's a rather DOS-ish platformer about the above mentioned pair of platforms and some very delicious cherries

Well, my game is a simple platformer with two twists:

- You only got one eye. Therefore you are only able two see half of the objects one screen colored and have to "blink" if you want to change which objects are colored.

- You only got one hand but you need both your mouse and your keyboard to control the character. So you have to switch quickly between mouse and keyboard controls! (You are allowed to use both your hands though.)

Can you beat all ten levels? There's only one way to find out!

It’s not great, but SINCE the Jam, I’ve had more ideas about how to do 1D puzzles

We have a trippy game where there are actually multiple dimensions (planes of existence), that you travel all at the same time.

A topic for the most bizarre game concept?
Ok, count with me.

Here is Single Digit, the turn-base battle RPG using only one digit.  I'm still waiting to see something similar. ^^

Gotta give a try to every game posted in here, now! Let's bookmark this topic.

This was fantastic, really really enjoyable.

I'll confess I was acting a little randomly at first, but as soon as you let me change the numbers I started to really twig on to what was happening.

The final boss, 'Myudas' (spelling?) was rad, see my comment on your page.

Our game is based around the idea of “just one axis”, the character can only travel up and down and the world itself has to be moved underneath him. Technically, you play as the world not the character, but relatively speaking the result becomes the same visually...Isn’t it wonderful what 4 sleep deprived brains can conjure?

This is only our second jam and are still getting to grips with unity, I myself am just the artist! Do let us know what you think of this years effort 🤘

A Programming game where you can add only one instruction!

It's not as uncommon as 1D games, but I think the programming style is quite rare, I saw only one in this jam
