One of the best entries I've played, neat concept which fits perfectly! Glad this game was brought to my attention.

Only thing that felt weird is when your actual mouse (which you can't see) leaves the gray play area and you reenter at a different location the games pointer behaves strange. Would've expected the actual mouse to be locked in place.

Developer

Hmm, the mouse should be captured by the game window... The only way to escape the mouse is by pressing escape, and it should recapture any time you click on the window. Are you playing the windows version? I haven't had a chance to test the other builds yet.

Submitted

Playing on windows, yes. The mouse is captured by the game indeed but I'm talking about leaving and entering the gray area of the current level. Nvm maybe I did something wrong on my end.

A fantastic jam entry! Really unique idea and pretty good execution. It could use some more time spent on level design, as some levels feel like they’re more based on random chance than puzzle-solving skill (like the mentioned by others before me level 2), but for a 48h jam it’s a very good game. I hope you’ll work on it some more, I’d be happy to check it out and see how it evolves. ;)

Very nice game! The second level was a bit frustration though, but all the other ones were very fun!

What a weird game :O just love it !

Oh hey, a fellow mouse cursor game! :) Super neat and creative idea! Didn't figure out how to progress past the level where the goal is in the bottom right corner of the room. Missing audio! :)

Developer

Ooh, I'll have to give your game a shot soon! I haven't seen many other projects using a mouse either. I agree audio would help a lot, between time constraints and my own lack of experience with it I decided to focus on other things. It's definitely something I want to include the next time I do a jam!

And if you want a hint for that level, try putting some momentum into your cursor before you let it go ;)

Submitted(+1)

Ohhh, thanks for that hint, I wouldn't have expected that! :D I made it! Level 10 was pretty fun, as well. Took me 99 retries overall! :P Thanks for making this!

Submitted(+1)

Also, yay for Godot! Would be curious to learn which nodes you used to design the levels!

Developer

The pointer is a bit of a mess, it's a RigidBody2d with a dynamically offset area2d for collision detection in normal cursor mode. In hindsight, I think it would be better to swap between a KinematicBody and a RigidBody when it changes modes for a number of complicated reasons, and I plan to try that out and release an updated build after the jam. As for the levels, they're pretty simple, walls are StaticBodies and just about everything else is an Area2d. Then I just used signals and AnimationPlayers to make everything work, and slapped a level graphic sprite on top!

I got stuck at the level where you have to throw your cursor uphill to a star through a small tunnel, but had a ton of fun with this game! Awesome idea!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! If you want a hint, you don't have to throw the cursor up that slope. Take a look at the other things available to you in that level

I went back and gave it another try; realizing how to solve that felt like finally understanding how to use portals in my first play-through of Portal.. This is honestly amazing! Good Work!

Really fun & original take - felt a bit unresponsive at times with the artificial movement speed limitations, but overall a really great submission, congrats!

Submitted(+1)

Why doesn't it have more views? You totally deserve more, because the game in insanely detailed, polished and smart! Perhaps, one of the best and the most creative games I've played from the jam. You even made a proper smooth tutorial for new mechanics. I was lacking the sound design, but we were restricted with time, after all. Good luck to you, and please, keep up making games, this is so cool

Super elegant design, and you explore it in a lot of interesting ways. My favorite submission so far, really great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it

Very simple and elegant, which I find to be beneficial in jams like this. Having a game that fits the theme and yet still doesn't rely on randomness makes this game stand out above a lot of the other games seen. Good Job.

Intelligent, fun and fits the theme so well!

Charmingly genius, with a dash of absurdity.

Developer

I'll be sure to include this quote if I ever make an accolades trailer XD

Super fun game! Very creative level design, nice visuals, loving it!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you like the visuals! They're one of the last things I added, but I think they help the game feel a lot nicer.

Submitted(+1)

It's probably the most original game I've ever seen! I love both the idea and execution!

Developer

That's the best compliment I could ask for!

Submitted

Really great idea. It's a bit annoying that the cursor can't leave the screen so you have to exit with Alt-F4 though.

Developer

Thanks! You can actually free the mouse by pressing escape, by the way

Submitted(+1)

I just found out your game and man, it's a really cool idea. I went to the end and still wanted to play more !

Developer(+1)

Thank you! That means a lot :D

Submitted(+1)

Very original idea. The second level was a bit annoying but the rest of the game was really fun

Developer

Thank you! I did wonder about that one, slowing it down a bit probably would have been a good idea.
